I first heard this when i was a toddler. My dad loved mike oldfield, so he'd play it a lot. First time listening to since i was 14 or so. Thank you, uploading marvel.
"This stereo record cannot be played on old tin boxes no matter what they are fitted with. If you are in possession of such equipment please hand it into the nearest police station."
My dad had me listen to this when he got in on CD (!!!) when I was 14 or 15. That was a long time ago, and I still listen to this every once in a while.
Doesn't matter how old you are in relation to what music you listen to, it should never be a factor in deciding or questioning what music you listen to. Listen to whatever you enjoy ;).
A musical genius. And I see by the like/dislike meter that everyone who has heard it has liked it. Heard it at age 17 back in the early 80's still love it today.
This album terrified me after The Exorcist. I swore I heard the devil in every note! The Catholic Church really knows how to scare you when they want to....without even touching you :)
This was introduced to me when I was three...and I couldn't get enough of it! Now that I'm heading off to college, it brings a nostalgic tear to my eye. It's amazing what Oldfield's music does for the heart.
I am currently reading Mike Oldfields autobiograpy, he doesnt even mention music, .. all he goes on about is clothes and fashion. It's a complete let down.
This music is an amazing piece of art, and to think that Mike Oldfield wrote it way back in the early 1970's, He also recorded the sound track to Blue Peter the long running kids program. Damb I wish I still had my VINYL copy!!!! :-(
Progressive: Define it? I cant, but it may try to resume it, it goes something like this: The active stream of imagination from the mind to a physical plane.
@devey28 So true, I always used to hear my dad playing his stuff afew years back when i was a wee one. Now I'm finally actually listening to it, and I'm appreciating his musicality. Not many of my fellow friends listen to New Age, nor I to their favourite tastes.
@devey28 I began getting into progressive rock since I was 16, I'm 17 now, but I always loved the intro to TB Part 1 since I was very young, before I even knew what it was. It's so good, to me at least, that it practically stands as its own song - no wonder it was at some point released that way.
@devey28 I know, there is a kid in my son's class who doesn't even know who john lennon is! ok, i can understand not knowing mike oldfield, but john lennon!!!
@devey28 I was at your age in the 80s and obsessed with Mike Oldfield's music - but hardly anyone at school listened to it even then. It's probably only people who are really into music and have the kind of good taste that is required to appreciate it (like classical music) that have a chance of getting into it.
@devey28 I used to listen to this when I was 16. My friends were into it then. Now I'm only 2 years old and I don't bother about what other people think is good, cause everyone's so different. I still like this though.
@devey28 I'm in the same boat, mate. My dad brought me up on the roaring twenties and all the other good periods of music. This is the good stuff, not what our generation is gumballing out.
@devey28 its because they listen to new shit they dont care about the talent, they just want it to sound like all of their other songs. we listen because its unique and different, and for talent. 15 by the way :)
@nokturnal5647 What's your problem, I'm not one of them dick heads that thinks i'm original because I listen to decent music, I was just pointing out the fact that my generation has lost, well, not even lost but never found the decency and emotion in the music that came before our time, I'm not bragging or anything, I wasn't stopping anyone from enjoying the music and by commenting doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the music myself. I see no reason for you to reply in such mannerism.
@devey28 That's exactly why I replied in that manner. It's just arrogant and naive to say that this generation doesn't have emotional or "decent" music. There's is plenty of great modern music still being made, you just aren't looking in the right places and probably don't have an open mind to it anyway. I know, I used to be the same way. And pointing out that you're 16 only further proves that you're naive. Anyway, great song!
@nokturnal5647 Freedom of speech is an important dilemma, so I respect your reply as any.But I'm not saying it's all bad, chart wise, it's not all as good as it used to be. I pointed out that I was 16, as the comment is ancient which you also have to consider, to emphasize on my age group and what I've been brought up around. You judge to easily on a comment, I'm not as much 'naive' as you're led to believe, I still listen to new music, I just wish that there was a bit more of music like this.
@devey28 I was listening to this from 14 onwards and I'm 22 haha. Times don't change sadly, but as you get older you will meet more people that know quality music like this. Half my age group still don't know who Dire Straits or Jethro Tull are either
@devey28 I'm 29 this year and have been listening to this since I was 12. My parents had the album, and even then it was an "older" album and none of my friends had heard it, or even cared that it existed. You are not the only one lol...
@devey28 i first heard it 7 years ago when i was 10. ahh the memories. i love this, no one i know younger than about 25, outside of my family, know who mike oldfield is either.
@devey28 I listen to this number, i have been listening to it since i was 12 i think and i am 17 now. this is one of the best music ever made! Mike Oldfield is a music god!
@devey28 its my favourite piece of music ever written, i'm only fourteen i've been listening to it my whole life... i'm also a huge fan of dubstep , hip hop, heavy metal, chart, blues, jazz, classical, baroque.... anything but overall this is my favourite piece of music ever written... I know how you feel haha
Sorry but I really regret leaving how old I was, this was ages ago, stop replying to me, I don't care! xD

Of the locomotive breath,
Runs the all-time loser,
