Play more with your fingers than wrist, Extreme Metal drumming use very few accents so the french grip / flying fingers technique is much more relaxing to play.
@scrumsie I have been a Dave Weckl fan for years, he's a great drummer. I know I'm not in his league but why would you even look at this video when the title associates it with a style of music that drummers like Dave would not even consider playing? I think the skills I display are fairly representative of this style of music which just makes your comment a trolling waste of time, go find something better to do wanker.
@jimzero1 Dear Jimzero i am a drummer , and i watched the whole video before i wrote . I watch alot of drumming here on youtube . I didnt mean to troll you , i just dont like your style ,it seems hard for you to play this , this is not drumming, its like watching somebody at a factory being very busy . Work on your technique , learn to relax while playing ,shoulders down ,loosen your wrist ect. Sorry for the spelling. I use more time on practicing the drums than english .
@scrumsie thank you for your feedback and I apologise for my less than polite initial response. Why is Dave Weckl being compared against death metal drummers? It's like comparing a Lamborghini(loud, brash, fast showoff) to a Rolls Royce(ultra refined, pure class), the two things are not equally comparable as the entire ideology between the two styles of playing is different. I can see from your profile that you rate Brann Dailor over Derek Roddy, this speaks volumes toward your style preference
@scrumsie At the same time you once again profess Dave Weckl over the top of either. Try Buddy Rich or Dennis Chambers or Jo Jo Meyer as they are all closer the the type of drummer that it would appear you are after. For ultra groove try Steve Gadd, he's a legend.
I couldn't help but notice that you have no drumclips posted, is there a reason for this? The advice you give me is spot on, it is hard to enact when you are chasing BPM though. The other band I play in is much easier to relax with.
@scrumsie I'm assuming your one of the Dave Weckl fanboys who only cares to hear anything his idol produces. Even Dave Weckl has some bad techniques that he still works to fix, and why would you suggest a different style of drumming on a video. Instead offer technical advice rather than stylic approaches.
hey men it doesnt matter what people said about how stiff you played men. THIS SHIT IS amazing men you have all the techniques needed. AND for the CorpsegrinderWASR bitch i would like to see him do what you do men you would murder him in a 1 vs 1 battle or duel.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MEN
@CorpsegrinderWASR Post a video response containing your skills then. All you have done in the last hour is troll drumclips, leaving 1 sentence responses that are badly spelled. Is this all the space your brain can contain at any given minute? It must be sad living a life where you bag uselessly on people for things that you cannot do either. Where are your drum vids on your channel? Oh thats right, there are none because you are too busy rooting your father who is also your cousin you inbred fag
@yopeterman The snare is just a steel shell piccolo 14" x 3", the skins are remo ambassador coated on top and pearl bottom, I have no tension on the snare wires whatsoever so they don't make any contact with the skin (I haven't taken them off entirely as I play in several bands and want the option of using them) and the lug tension is fully maxed out top and bottom, I use my drum key and a shifting wrench to get extra leverage, this abuses lugs badly which I break (and replace) all the time...
@whibbsy3232 up high there are 2 china splashes, in the vid one obscures the other, on my right top is a Stagg 10" china splash and on the left top is a Stagg 12" china splash, I've got a few cymbals, zildjian k and avedis series, paiste 2000, sabian aax and a 10, 12, 14 and 16 inch Stagg chinas and I've spent in the past a shitload of money on big brand cymbals that don't sound real great, I've found that for a "cheap" cymbal Stagg punches well above their weight, I recommend them :-)
relax dude.try playing slower for loooooong periods of time.it will help you play relaxed at faster speeds.sounds backwards but it works...from experience.
You have a sick sounding snare. Solid ass blasts too. Keep it up.

@Reegatron Never too many cymbals, technically I only have one crash and two chinas and a ride and hats and bell so all the rest are splashes....
