Carrie is so right on with what she is saying. Beginning and end. I really love how she sings this song. Growing up I've heard it sung by many different people and in different churches. They way Carrie sings this song; it's emotional. I'm quite glad that there are singers still that are willing to sing hymns. I woke up on Nov 10,2009 to my alarm going off & I was feeling badly down in the dumps. This song was just starting & the words really ministered to my heart, especially when I heard Carrie's version. Anyway, my daughter just sang it to a small audience on Nov 13th and many were also lifted up. You see, she sang it at my dad's funeral who past away on Nov 9th, which is also my birthday. Our great God has a way of turning tragic events & brings great healing.

honestly, I agree with both of you! 'thumbs down' all you want to, folks but it is very true. when she auditioned for American Idol, she was this down home country girl who said she would do nothing but Gospel & Country. now her Country music has turned into Country/Pop. they have made her up to look & sound like the world & have done it brilliantly. I love her to death but it just saddens me to look back on what she used to look like...to now. there's difference!
