  • this sounds great!

  • Great track. He's still got it hasn't he....I've never been a Queen fan but they're great with Paul Rogers.

  • Not a huge fan of Paul Rodgers, but 2:50... goosebumps...

  • Great Paul Rodgers!

  • Rodgers is just an excellent, smooth vocalist.

  • he is a great singer in his style but that style is not queen. Queen never wore the emotional content on their sleeve. im not being purist its just not a good match.

  • @whynottalklikeapirat Er... yes they did. Almost every song by Brian May was very emotional. And Paul is a great fit because they were trying to do something new instead of trying to replace Freddie

  • @SigandGibbs Not implying queen werent emotional, theatrical or even melodramatic. However they were not on the nose. Paul is great but the styles clash to me. he goes all-in as well but without the irony and calls more attention to the singing than the song which to me better suits other, possibly more improvisational or rough styles, or styles that heavily showcase "the soloist". I dont desire queen to replace anything. The dramaturgy of these two styles, to me, have way different objectives.

  • 2:29 to 2:37 PERFECT TIME!!!! BRIAN IS THE BEST OMG!!!

  • @Queenmaniaco666 yea i thought that too ! this is so good

  • Chuck Norris !!!!!!!!!!

  • Paul Rogers what a superb voice !

  • freddy would have loved it....rock on paul and queen

  • This old dude loved this clip...Freddy and Paul are two of the greatest.

  • @Forestdons - your point is really well made and well said.

  • Jau, unser Päule wird gefordert und...läuft zu Höchstform auf... Klasse Queen !!!

  • This is where Paul Rodgers is good at. The bluesy stuff. Not on QUEEN's material!

  • The most beautiful british soul voice of all time, combine it with the most bombastic backing band of all time - you CAN NOT tell me this is a bad thing!

  • @umbudamidlun I couldn't have said it better myself. Spectacular!

  • does anyone know what chord he plays at 0:27 ?

  • @lukeredspecial123 its just a bend of the string on that fret

  • @lukeredspecial123 Just an E chord i think. One of my favourite songs to play on guitar :)

  • Paul Rogers does well on FREE songs .Not so good on QUEEN songs.Maybe Brian May go to the Philippines and find a singer like Journey did. hehehehe

  • IS THIS CHUCK FUCKING NORRIS SINGING?

  • @AttilaThe1 No it's Bruce Lee.

  • Read Keith's book. You will learn how he came by it honestly.

  • Brilliant.

  • Queen + Paul Rogers = mystic + awesome conglomerate

Pure pleasure to listening it. Holy 70' when such music was born.

i am lucky i was there

  • im a guy but paul rogers is fit !

  • Stella krataw maxairi .....

  • Greatest voice of all time...

  • Freddy couldn't have cut this.

  • @exntryk you have to be kidding right?

  • @gizatoob I don't think he is kidding.. no offence to you or F.M but I think exntryk is right......

  • @gizatoob

Nah, he isnt. Freddy never would have nailed this song like Paul. But on the other hand Paul cant nail the songs of Queen as good as Freddy ;)

  • @smitske1990 That is out of question coz we could never ever gonna hear that to happen. The myth is always the same for every great song and the original singer is always the best.Freddie might not have sounded as much as paul on this song or any free songs coz thats something only Paul could do justice. That is the same for queen song coz nobody will ever sound as good as freddie but hey all this music and GREAT music.Enjoy the music and dont compare legends:P

  • This song never sounded better, even when the Free recorded it...but then again, Brian May and the Old Lady would be my personal choice for my 'backing band' anytime, anywhere!

  • @makwabid69 yep...and Paul would be proud...was this the last FREE album?

  • Is there some other link to FREE other than these guys doing all of their songs?

  • Really awesome. I LOVE the way Paul sings this - it's amazingly good, and it was close to 40 years ago since that album was released. This is a super band. I love this collaboration.

  • Danny Bonaduce on vocals ladies and gentlemen.

  • my favourite song

  • BRIAN IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GREAT JOB W/QUEEN !!

  • My teenager song, when i was 13 years old.

And after that i could entjoy rock and prog.

  • NO DOUBT! Paul is the best soul singer of the world.

    I'm a Japanese,but I know his career.I 'm always his side

    Thank you Paul.

  • ิbeautiful song

  • If I were to create an ultimate band, Paul Rodgers would definitely be lead vocals!

  • @spugh07 NO FREDDIE MERCURY DNT BE STUPID!!!!!!!!!

  • @RAMMSTEIN1720 One problem with that, he's dead!

  • @RAMMSTEIN1720 Just discovered Rammstein in last 6 months. They kick ass.

  • This song was written when Bon Jovi was just a twinkle in his mum eye

  • This song for some reason reminds me of Bon Jovi's "Living On A Prayer" I think it's just the pre-chorus that reminds me of it... But overall, still a great song.

  • @ScottNicholasSimpson It was written in 73, 14 years before living on a prayer

  • This version is much better than the slash version by miles

  • Is Queen still together, or was this a one time gig?

  • @agentshavers Queen and Paul Rodgers outfit existed from 2004 to 2009 :)

  • @agentshavers They have worked together alot over the years also.

  • Queen plays this song excellently. I never heard them play it before.

  • Queen play this song excellently. I never heard them play it before.

  • And CornCob6000 i'm sorry I said that about you. It was uncalled for, and I do apologize.

  • I do think that Paul Rodgers is a great singer, and performer. Not trying to imitate Freddy, but with his talent he doesn't have to imitate anyone. I'm glad he was able to continue with the Queen legacy, he's an outstanding singer.

  • OK. So I was wrong about it. Now I stand corrected. I honestly believed it was a Blackfoot Song. And I didn't put it "eloquently" I was just stating what I thought was the truth. No need for sarcastic remarks. Just correct me, and that's all. I don't have a beef to pick here. Geez, like I said I love Queen too, saw them twice with Freddy Mercury and he was a great performer and singer. I hated to see him go like that.

  • Comment removed

  • OK. You don't have to be sarcastic and mean to me...geez. I played in "Southern Cross" for 7 years, and played mostly Southern Rock. It goes over big in most rock clubs. I love Queen too. Saw them with Freddy twice, and it was fantastic.

  • @agentshavers hate to rain on your parade but its a free song off the heartbreaker album from 1973 check out the writing credits to see who wrote it its a song about frees guitarist paul kossoff and his fight against drug addiction

  • @agentshavers This song was originally by Free, co-written by Paul Rodgers who is singing it here with Queen. Free recorded this in 1972. I think Blackfoot's cover version was 1979. As you so eloquently put it, don't talk if you don't know.

  • is Paul Rodgers gay?

  • @citicoman Yes, and his beard is tickly!

  • @citicoman No

  • I got the impression that lots of Queen fans probably went to these gigs keen but sceptical, I'm sure they were pleasantly surprised to hear a great singer performing but not impersonating. I also suspect they were less inclined to go for toilet breaks during the Free & Bad Co songs than they'd expected to be - May & Taylor certainly seemed to love performing them.

  • Does anyone know where this concert was filmed? I saw this concert and it looks like the one in Toronto? I LOVE Freddy, but Paul did do an amazing job! This is what "real" rock was all about!

  • @StaceyPrieur I thinks it's from sheffield

  • Niente a che vedere con sua Maesta' Freddie ,Paul canta bene....ma solo le sue canzoni

  • Saw Freddie three times.....Rodgers is my fav vocalist....it will always be Freddies show....

  • Even Queen saw the genius of Free. Keep your time changes and complicated bullshit Beethoven, rock has a simple solution.

  • @notlazy99 heh...that is genius...

  • This whole concert must have been amazing to go see. A collaboration of two of the best british bands, Paul Rogers does an excellent job covering Queen tracks. He's not trying to be Freddie, no-one will ever be, however he does the songs bloody good justice. And along with the Free & Bad Co songs it all sounds bloody fantastic!

    Long Live British Rock!!!

  • Nice copy of the original. And good of Paul to ensure that some of his earlier songs from earlier bands were included.

But as a die hard Free fan I have to say Brian May came up short. Not even close to Kos.

Paul Kossoff didn't use any pedals to get the sound you made to failingly copy him.

RIP PK and God Bless the Shooting Star.

  • Comment removed

  • @snidder1 To tell you the truth, Kossoff was so messed up with drugs during the timeframe recording Heartbreaker that the band had to use a assortment of guitar players on the album including Rodgers. I'm not sure what Kossoff's contribution to Wishing Well was but I have been led to believe from different sources that session guitarist Snuffy Walden contributed most of the guitar riffs for this song. Even Rodgers filled in a couple of snippets of solo.

  • @GOODY61 Koss isn't credited with playing on Wishing Well on the album sleeve notes. But the Free bio (Heavy Load) suggests that he might well have been in the mix - somewhere!

  • @200Strat I agree, Kossoff did have some parts of the final mix. Rodgers contributed parts but if memory serves me right most of the studio track was performed by session player Snuffy Walden. However I recently

heard a live version of Free playing this in 1972 so maybe Kossoff at least had more contribution in the development of the guitar riff's than previously known.

  • This is why the UK is THE rock capital

  • @bazstar33

    Damn right mate!

  • Great all time best track. May covers it well.

  • blackfoot were awesome, unique, but it's a good cover

  • some of the best rock ever

  • No-one could replace Freddie Mercury and I don't think Rogers is trying. This is the first time I've seen Queen & Paul Rogers and it's okay. Rogers has got a massive voice and sounds good with Taylor and May. They're only doing it for the love of it anyway.

  • Comment removed

  • Paul Rogers rocks..The best...FREE with QUEEN..Awsome.

  • Better than the version with Neal Schon and Slash.

  • In fairness, brian may doesn't have many ideas when improvising.

  • I'm sorry, but no one will beat Freddie, but Paul is an excellent vocalist and the "new" Queen may not be the same, but they are doing pretty well. I'm impressed, especially with Pauls voice!

  • I gotta say, Paul Rogers, in my PERSONAL opinion, is far better than Freddie Mercury.

  • @mark22160 brother you are not alone, Paul Rogers is UNTOUCHABLE. My favorit singer is Ian Gillan of D.Purple but this guy brings tears to my ayes...

    Cheers

  • holy fuck old drummer

  • 2:32 to about 2:38 - No one but Brian May could look away, yet still play that well. Legend. Does anyone else think he looks a bit like Top Gear's James May now though?

  • THIS IS REAL ROCK MUSIC, MEANINGFUL, LOUD AND LIVE

  • his voice is sent from heaven SWWEEEEET!

  • my god- he looks 35!

  • @drumsanddrumming , makeup is a wonderful thing, along with spray tans and boto idiot

  • Comment removed

  • @impishmiss lol! you`re probably right! but still.

  • @makuZz94

I'm not so sure he is right.

Paul was always known for living a really clean life, exercise, good diet, and the rest (especially compared to his compatriots). I've seen him interviewed recently and he does look good. Maybe looks 40, and can still sing with the best of them, although I think his voice was just a trifle smoother 20 years ago.

I think it just goes to show if you take care of your self you don't need to end up looking like Keith Richards - no offense to Keith.

  • @cjsmit77 Keith is his own offense.

  • Paul Rodgers looks like he signed a deal with the DEVIL. He looks so young. His voice is shit hot too :-)

  • Brian and Roger do this track well. And Paul - well omg!!

  • classy cover

  • Isnt it funny?? All through the Paul Rodgers covering Queen tracks... He gets slated by people on here.... Yet here we have Queen covering a Free track..... where's the nay sayers now??? Seen Queen Live, Saw Bad Co live in the 70's....... Great combination, he'll never be Freddy in Queen, any more than Freddy could have been Paul In Bad Co or Free,,,, get over it and enjoy a melding of two great performing icons.

  • @19Graywulf Your so Right there my Friend

  • Isnt it funny?? All through the Paul Rodgers covering Queen tracks... He gets slated by people on here.... Yet here we have Queen covering a Free track..... where's the nay sayers now??? • he's one of the few singers who has lost absolutely NONE of his vocal power even though he's almost 60 now (Sammy Hagar is another). But I do wonder why he just jumps from one band to the next all the time.....

  • @fanofprotopic Paul's voice still has great power, but I think its not quite as smooth as it was way back when - but still top shelf no doubt

  • Although Paul still sounds great, it would be interesting to hear the Paul of the 70's singing this song with Queen - that I think would be totally incredible.

  • I played this tune in a crappy copy band back in the 70s - it was one of the few tunes we did that was actually fun to play. I was amazed to find I still remember the lyrics. This is a grand version of a great tune.

  • great voice ,,hes not trying to be freddie ,,his own style ,,queen fans should think themselfs lucky paul took theses gigs on as not many could or would and you wouldnt hear there great music again

  • how good is Brian May!!!!

  • Mr Mecury had a great powerful voice and Paul's never joined Queen with the expcetation to fill Freds boots, but if anyone can find another singer out there(after watching this video) who can even come close to this level of vocal talent, well good luck is all I'm saying. This sounds better than the recorded orginal.

  • Unbelievable that a man over 60 still sounds so amazing!!! He sounds as good if not better than 40!! years ago!!! A true pro and unbelievable talent!!!!!

  • @patoo1000 im guessin you dont like bands like free led zep queen iron maidon metallica bad company anything to do with rock at all basicly

  • This is unbelievable! Paul Rodgers sings better than he did 40 years ago. What the...? How is that possible?

  • Wow! Most singers lose the strength of their voice over the years due to wear and tear but Paul still has a fantastic strong voice! Amazing singer!

  • All those Queen fans who complain about Paul should watch this-then they'd realise that this is a COLLABORATION, and not a cash-in effort or an attempt to replace Mr. Mercury (who realistically could?). Paul does justice to Queen songs, and Queen do justice to Paul's songs.

  • Brian May is awsome, Supports Rodgers brilliantly in this version!!!!!!!

  • brian may is awesome

  • I love that song, I think rodger is a good alternate of Freddy, but he is'n freddy.. we miss you freddy!

  • Rodgers voice is like a good wine, it gets better with age.

  • fabulous song, Brian plays it excruciatingly brilliant, and Paul Rodgers voice has blown me to the other side of the room!

  • OK Paul is not Freddie but then again Freddie is not Paul...got it.

He does Freddie proud and we can hear Free and Bad Co songs again, aswell as some good Queen.

  • One of my favorites of Free's songs, this version is kick-ass! Rodgers' voice is still amazing, and May and Taylor are great on it!

  • Love Paul, but I just realized these days he looks like a cross between Bill Bixby and Chuck Norris. Still sings like a motherfucker, though.

  • Can't wait to see Bad Co at Wembley. Keep wondering what the set list will be?

  • Always feel that Brian was a bit wasted in Queen. How good he is here and he was great with Cosy Powell covering Rainbow. Too much of a real rocker for Queen. This is MAGIC.

  • That's a hell of a statement!

  • Paul Rogers can't do anything wrong he's amazing, and i love him to bits

  • GOOD BRIAN!!!!

  • This song sounds much better live with Queen + Paul Rodgers performing it

  • awesome stuff !

paul rodgers and two amazingly talented individuals

and a truly esoteric yet great song too

how can they go wrong !?

    :)

  • he has still got it, he is a gd match with queen

  • Davvero in forma Dr. May !!

  • I think he had been perfect to RAINBOW.

  • He has a great voice!

A lot of singers should be jealous!

  • 1974 Blackmore wanted him for Purple. Rodgers declined and founded Bad Co.

Would have been nice to see Deep Purple going more towards Blues Rock.Ritchie at that time had a try with Phi Lynott on bass and Paicey on drums.

Also a pitta that Leslie West did not make the record with Ian Gillan. Would have been nice also.

For me its Ian Gillan, Steve Marriott and Paul Rodgers.

  • awesome freaking voice!!

  • Paul just got better with age, rock on Queen! Rock on Bad co, rock on Paul!

  • Love QUEEN and FREE its like them to together might go and see them next time they vist newcastle can't wait Paul rocks and so does queen miss freddy though sad that he pst away wow wow wow COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • He's definitely improved with age ... but then so have I LOL

  • Why does this sound better than the original?? Lol, how many singers get better with age?

  • I love that Paul doesn't try to copy freddie, but then he doesn't need to with a voice like that. Love him!

  • Muy bien me a gustado!!!

  • well im not a queen fan.only song they ever did that i liked was 7 seas.....yep i listened to all the lps ..but with paul as front man they pulled it off with "wishing well"..electricity from paul....bass n drum well into it. guitarist did good. but no sparks for me sorry brian.

  • im an equally massive fan of both Free and Queen, and i think Paul is a superb singer. Free were one of the best and most underated bands of the last century, and i think to comment on paul as a replacement for freddie is a bit daft. He doesnt want to sing like Freddie when he sings fantastically as Paul!! RIP freddie

  • genial!!!!

  • brilliant singer!!

  • I agree totally!!

  • hey this man never gets old!?!

  • Classic Rock GODS. Undisputed. I love and miss you Freddie. So glad to see this collab. Love Queen, Bad Company and Free, as well as all classic rock, glad to see it kept alive with such dignity.

  • This is one of the best from the tour but I think that Paul gets a lot of abuse from Queen fans when he does Queen songs. I reckon he does all the songs justice and should be respected by people as an excellent rock vocalist. He aint trying to be Freddie Mercury.

  • The thing that I like best about Paul in Queen is that he doesn't try to be Freddie. I hate those Freddie imitators singing in Queen, like George Michael. I saw Queen in concert last year and it was the most beautiful thing I've seen in my whole life!

  • @mcmicken I completely agree. He's the next best thing for queen so why can't people just respect Paul for who he is and the the great singer that he is, and that he sings queen songs his own way and does them just ice i think i love Paul with Queen. Rock On!

  • @rockwilllive4ever Rodgers split from Brian and Roger almost two years ago now.

  • @GOODY61

Sure they split...on good terms too. This was a one time project...
