Sounds a little like "arirang", but my ear for Korean has really deteriorated over time. Ah, all that time and expense learning a language, to never use it again. Your voice towards the end, it sounds like a note trailing off from a shakuhachi. Very nice.

it's not "arirang" but you are getting the gist of it if you are comparing it to arirang bc i'm singing repetitive "sounds" (akin to let's say "heave-ho") for the refrain which denotes the effort exerted in the action of rowing (it's essentially a rowing song) :) re: shakuhachi, in the ancient times japanese culture was very much influenced by the korean/chinese culture so i'm sure there are similiarities to this day ^_^ thank you Dan for ur well informed comment

I used to. I was a translator for about 8 years in the military. Mostly ground forces work. It's very much a skill that requires constant practice if you're not in an immersion environment and you're not a native speaker. Living in Kansas, not too much opportunity as compared to living on the coasts. I agree that so much of what we think of as distinctly chinese, korean, or japanese culture is really a blend and cross-pollination of ideas and languages. No people, or nation, exists in a vacuum.

oh yeah i know about learning foreign languages... i used to speak pretty good italian but i've forgotten most of it now cos of lack of practice...:( fortunately my french is still pretty good ;-) it's a great thing, learning a new language... why don't you watch korean dramas to keep up with your korean..? they are so popular all over asia now and some are really good.... :) i highy recommend " dae jang geum"
