  • at 1:06 she's really swinging her left foot around, maybe you should check the balance of her hoof

  • i have a 15 year old QH and we took him to the vet and they said he had the worste case he has ever seen and he could have sold the pics for a good deal of money cuz they were sooo bad!! but we got him to where i can ride him NO RUNNING for a good amount of time. My farrier made him a SPECIAL shoe with bars going across his heel and the middle of the shoe with that was a full pad under it andd silicone underneath that he felt amazing and now he only has a wedge pad on and reg shoes.hope it helps

  • hi

my pony has just been diagnosed with low grade navicular and can still keep showing and being ridden with no special padded shoes.

She may also still be able to be jumped lightly in the future on soft surfaces :)

navicular is not the end of the road :)

  • ya my horses was diognosed with the WORST case of navicular desease and he is doing good..

  • what do you do for your horses navicular? my horse has it too and we are trying to find someone who has a horse with it and is doing good.

  • omg i found out about 6 months ago that my horse was misdiagnosted and duz NOT have navicular! Which iz great cuz now i get to jump lol look on my channel and the auto vid is of me and him jumping lol but ya my farrier sed only 10% of jorses that r diagnosted with it actually have it lol i never knew that

  • my horse has navicular and he is going great now with padded shoes.

  • my 15 year old school horse had navicular really bad. bought him cheap because of it. 1 year 1/2 later after deshoeing and natural lifestyle he is sound and sold to a beginner rider who is winning for more than a year.

  • is all you did was let him go barefoot to get him sound caz my horse has it too and i wnat to help him.

  • @dreamhorse54 my horse was diagnosed with navicular by vets and i searched and found natural barefoot trimming loo up pete ramey navicular it turned out my horse doesnt have a navicular but natural barefoot trimmers can handle them really well

  • riding on hard surfaces (like the road) is horrible for horses with navicular! heads up!

  • Personally, horses with navicular should have shoes with a wedged plate on them. My beautifull mare has navicular and she has almost perfect conformation. She can hardly walk without shoes on. And its not because she HAD shoes on. Belle has been barefoot all her life with natural trimming. so its from shoes.

  • She HAD navicular? u cant get rid of it...its always there, u can just treat it

  • wait..so u didnt use shoeing? i have PRL shoeing for my horse with navicular. I am never having her go without shoes. if she doesnt have them she cant even walk. she almost falls down from the pain. Shes a 13 mare and they have a heel wedge on the shoes. They take the weight off her heels so there isnt alot of tension straining on the navicular bone. the people that say they dont need shoes dont kno wat they are talking about. ur horse is prolly younger. oh well, she looks great at the canter:D

  • 13 is young. Putting more pressure on the tip of the coffin bone deforms it in the long run and you are not correcting the problem. What do her x rays show?

  • Actually my horse is 14, and people have different view about everything, thanks tho.

  • @samroxxs actually u should look up barefoot, its very good for horses... they actually dont need shoes. Shoes on = no circulation in the legs becasue the frog cant touch the ground

  • @astrophel94 I AGREE navicular=go with natural barefoot trimmer

  • My horse was just switched to barefoot in August because of Navicular and now I ride him everyday. He's better now than he ever was. In my opinion, Navicular is not a DISEASE, it is a name given to horses with sore feet that the vets can't diagnose and its caused by shoeing. AND horses are NOT born with bad feet. Congrats on a healthy horse and she is lucky she has an owner like you who is willing to go against everything she knows for the love of her horse!!!!

  • yes! way to go, your horse is lucky too!

  • That's great for your horse! The worst thing you can do with navicular is shoe them. This is a hard one to beat.....congratulations!!!

  • thats totaly wrong

horses with navicular need special shoes with a wesge heel on them. you clearly have never owned a horse w/ naivular as i have. my horse cant go with out shoes, when he does have his special shoes on hes perfectly sound for the most part but if he doesnt have them on then he cant walk.

  • ahsleyfield71- Same with my horse, and since you've owned a horse with navicular, i have a question that i hope you can answer. Is there any way to cure/help Navicular go away? I wish my horse didn't have to wear shoes at all. But he only has them on his front hooves, so it's not so bad.

  • yes , me and my mom have been looking into this surgery called denerving. its were they nuimb the nerve in there foot with the navicular. its sapposed to work great. ide research into if i were u. and another thing u can do that i do for my horse is that we get him injected once a year in his joint of his ankle bone in the foot with the navicular. it just makes a jelly like substance between the joint so they arent rubbing together. it works great. ask ur vet about it

  • Thanks for the advice, I will definatly ask my vet and research both of those things!

  • glad i could help!

  • when you denerve a horse he no longer feels pain and therefore can cause more damage to himself not to mention can stumble and be dangerous to ride. I have a question is your goal to compete or to make this horse better?

  • i know that and they are also more prone to abcesses if they get denerved . and obviously he doesnt compete hes my moms trail horse. i would never pick competing over the comfort of my horse!

  • woooooooooo barefoot all the way! if my TB can go barefoot and walk/trot on gravel/concrete any horse can!! what if i NAILED a slab of METAL into yewr feet?

  • Umm.. no. My Thoroughbred can't go barefoot what so ever. His feet are very sensitive and will limp and abcess with shoes off. Not every horse is the same.

  • That comment is to deadxemoxkid.

  • Hi

I have a question to ask you, what signs, symptoms did your horse show before she was diagnosed with navicular, my horse is having a nerve block and x-rays today, scared it might be navicular?! x

  • aww I'm so happy for her she looks great!

  • cont/ time to look for our own reasons and answers to things. Thank you chestnutpony14 for sharing this if only it serves to give hope and inspiration to anyone facing similar delimas to my own it would have been worth it. (Rionas mum)

  • Cont/ Prior to going barefoot I had a real reluctance to trot on roads, I kinda had this thing in my head that I was creating a rippling effect through the sheer vibration of the steel shoes pounding the ground which would eventually cause no end of damage, for those who ride barefoot you'll know what I mean the difference is amazing! Like everything in life we reap knowledge from our own experiences and sometimes its only when we are faced with life or death situations we bother to take the /

  • Felt I needed to stick my tuppence in here...sorry folks! I'm Rionas mum, 4 years ago she was diagnosed with Navicular wouldn't accept the vets advice but got lucky came across a vetenarian in Arizon TOMAS TESKEY from whom I got education and inspiration to do what I believed to be right for my horse (google search on him, in particular please read Crystals story). All the typical symptons (not standing square, stumbling, reluctance to go downhill) have all gone, my horse has 4 healthy hoofs /

  • i can definetley see why that horse has problems!! you trot and canter it on freaking pavement!!!

  • ok you obvouisly dont know what your talking about now :D

    1. We dont Canter on pavements

    2. She doesnt have shoes on anymore and so has natural shock absorbers (frogs) and is not slamming her feet on Steel/Iron shoes!

    3. The shoes caused her navicular, if she isnt dead by now (after 5 years) then i think we know what were doing... Maybe you should do some research before telling people lies and saying that they do things wrong with thier horses :)

  • hahahahah!!! oh, maybe it was the fact it was stepping all wrong when you were trotting it on pavement. obviously you dont know that can severely damage their feet, espically with no shoes. shoes are not made of iron, its aluminum and steel. i doubt shoes caused her navicular issues. i was definetley telling a lie when i say going faster than a walk on pavement is harmful to a horse!! you must be some kind of super genious.

  • aww well im glad that you think of me as a super genious, really i am :P Actually shoes did cause her navicular, you really need to learn things, she is my horse after all i think i know her a lot better than you :) She also has muscle problems in her right shoulder and has bad conformartion, if she doesnt do enough walk and trot work then she will get stiff, thats due to shoes aswell if you must know!haha lol horses arnt meant to have shoes on,that severly damages them, serouisly do some researh

  • you must have a very bad farrier then. i bet those muscle problems are from a lack of work and trotting it on pavement. some, actually many horses do need shoes. espically ones with bad feet, or if they are in heavy training. it could also be dependent upon the discipline in which they are ridden. as i can see you wouldnt know about that, as you have backyard horses.

  • lol you call my horses backyard horses... have you seen yours????

    Horses with bad feet?

Where do you think the badness comes from?

How do you think wild horses live without shoes!!! argghhh no RUNN go get the farrier ive found a horse without shoes its going to die!!! RUN!!!

    Honestly how thick are you!!??

  • hahaha. yes i do and i have. i highly prefer mine. enlighten me with the reason for you calling mine backyard?? haha. you seriously make me laugh.

  • haha lol cool so im a super genouis and i make you laugh? lol thats cool! really it is :P

You havent answered my question though?

I asked you where do you think the badness comes from in the first place and how do you think wild horses live without shoes??

  • it depends on what is wrong with the feet. some horses are just born with bad feet and need shoes to help them. for example if they have under run heels, you put wedge pads and aluminums on them. the horses we own are not wild, they are domesticated.

  • you still havent answered my question?

Actually putting shoes on a horse with problems just causes more probelms, the proof on the outside might go away because the shoe is forcing the foot into an outline, it never takes the problem away just covers it up and causes more

  • yes i have answered your questions. obviously not the answer you wanted to hear. if done the right way shoeing helps many horses. espically if they are ridden and shown alot. and you have not answered my question. why do you think my horses are backyard

  • well if i must enighten the reason for calling yours backyard... i think it would be decent of you to do the same :P.... oh yeah and also shoeing doesnt help horses it makes the problems in the first place, and causes more... if you are serouis about this then type 'Barefoot horses' into google and read about it yourself

  • ahaha. you have to resort to returning the favor when you probably havent seen the videos of my horses. haha. you just keep saying the same thing that shoeing makes problems. it doesnt, if its done by a good farrier. well, if i am correct, and i am...one of the main barefoot dudes failed out of farrier school. i dont need to read about barefoot horses to know that not all shod horses have hoof problems, which they dont.

  • lol i have actually seen the vids of you and your horse and i must say i dont like them :D you hold his head way too low and in, not all shod horses may have problems straight away but they will eventually :P You say i just keep saying that shoes cause problems but you do the same saying that they dont!

  • i dont hold their heads low, they are naturally low-headed. its called a frame m'dear which your horse obviously doesnt know anything about. its called collection, it lifts their shoulders and drives their hind end up under themselves (impultion). definetley because most of them are past junior. i gave examples, you have provided not one of shoes ruining a horse.

  • yeah but your horse hasnt got impulsion and isnt on its hindquarters its wieght is resting on its front legs

  • I have read both sides to the "discussion" with razrbladefaerie and i have to agree with you that girl doesnt know what she is talking about...different things work for different horses, you have a truely beautiful horse, well done for all your hard work and effort, your horse loved you enough not to give up on herself aswell :-) you have in my opinion done the right thing with your horse being barefoot for the shoes would have made her condition worse, english horses are naturally hardy :-) xxx

  • Thank you so much!! Im so glad that some people (with common sense) can see that we have and are doing the right thing for her =D

  • There is 1 reason how people will know you are doing the right thing by her...she is healthy she is still here and she is happy...a truely beautiful horse, i wish you the best of luck with her...dont let people put you down when they dont know her, they dont own her nor can they even ride properly, the girls horses dont look comfortable or natural at all they look very stiff in the legs xxx

  • Aww that really means a lot to me thank you so much ^^

I know, i have tried to tell her this, they are way too much on the forhand instead of impulsating through the hindquarters but she wont listen to a word i say, just because she doesnt like that i dont have shoes on and dont use bits! I find it all quiet pathetic that she wont listen when im just trying to tell her about her own horse and give a bit of advise... lol thanks xD

  • Some horses have such strong hooves that they dont need shoeing!!! some horses have weak hooves so need that shoe on to provide support to the frog and wall, its healthy to do abit of light concrete work for her to keep her leg muscles strong and her hooves naturally trimmed, if she was at all uncomfortable she would have expressed herself by bucking etc...she looks wonderful a great job with her, some people just dont know anything about horses and if they dont they shouldnt judge!!! lol x

  • Yea Exactly!! lol thanks a lot xD

  • u have a beautiful horses lol

  • Nice tribute to a tough horse. Great that she's doing so much better . Congrats

  • Nice tribute to a tough horse. Great that she's doing so much better . Congrats

  • Thanks a lot :D she is doing a lot better :)

  • Beautiful horse. I'm sorry to hear she's gone downhill. She looks like a great horse with a beautiful personality.

  • Congrats! My horse Scout is an AQH 6 yeard old gelding with Nivicular. We do the same as you, barefoot, bitless, and treeless. LOL last year Scout couldn't even walk! Now I can ride him whenever, walk and trot hopefully a little canter by summer!

  • WOW THATS FANTASTIC i love hearing storys like this, its so good to be barefoot, bitless and treeless lol. Riona has gone down hill a little bit tho, she has a muscle problem on her left shoulder.. she has always had it but with the mud and stuff it has recently go a bit worse, but hopefull she will get better when the mud clears up :D

  • This is so inspiring.

It makes me think of our Cassia. She has gone through hell and back with founder and was skin and bones when we rescued her.

  • aww thats really inspiring.

i knew an older woman with a horse that got navicular, the woman could only ride for 10 min at a time becuase of her age and the horse could only be ridden a lil anyway so it worked out =]

thanks for sharing your story thats so amazing =]

  • your not riding her if she has nevicular right? Because nevicular attacks the nerves in the hooves, they cannot feel where they step and is dangerous if you ride them with that disease. I know this becuz I work for a nevicular program and someone rode their horse that had nevicular and it stepped wrong and had to be euthanized.

  • hiya no she hasnt got navicular anymore we got rid of it by taking her shoes off and she is totally sound now she just has a problem with her left shoulder muscle which need to be built up... thanx for been concerned but no she is fine now :D she won the desiese

  • wow. Did you tell the guiness book of world records? because there has never been a horse that beat a case of nevicular. they have survuved it, but no horse in the world has ever completely gotten over the disease because it attacks the nerves and once it hits them, its to late. Even with surgery its un-fixable

  • yea ik! i think you should tell them about Riona!

  • aww my horse had excautly the same and she also came back fighting. its really nice to see her back working.. i no how it feels when they have navicular.. lovely horse and great video. xx

  • Shee gawwjuzzz X

    glad shhees doiinn okkkkaayyyy X

    Ghhhhddd Vidd X

  • at 1:40 she look very beautiful!

  • hey!

how the heck do you get pictures etc into your credits do you use windows movie maker? thanx cya

    xxx

  • Hopefully Shells will be like this!! lol

  • great vid and pretty horse! but j/w whats navicular???

  • basically navicular syndrome is when a horses navicular bone (in their hoot, behing their coffin bone) becomes infammed and causes the horse to become (in some cases) severely lame, and some seem to walk on their "tip toes" because of the pain in their heel. Thats really the most basic explaination I hve for it lol....oh and a reason this horse probably has it is ebcause she's got Tb in her, and due to TB's typically having long toes tehy are more prone. Hope that helps =D

  • oh ok that explains it now!(not in a mean way!) thnx so much!

  • o sorry i didnt see your comment there i would have explained it to you sorry again!

  • More nice still shots throughout this vid, I have no way of knowing which pictures you personally took, but whoever took them is talented (and should consider pursuing photography). I love the video at 2:43, great capture. Beautiful mare and seems like she would have a very willing, wants to please, sweet disposition. Also in some Parelli vids I've seen, he has ridden in a hackamore or bareback with just a lead.

  • my horse got navicular he's barefoot and sound now :D shoes scare me now, NEVER using the again on my future horses

  • yea same here i will never put a shoe back on a horse and the difference in how they move in amazing

  • yea i no! its so obvious now and its like why do people put shoes on their horses, never again.

  • yea well i will niether and especailly after seeing improvments and what my horses are wanting and willing to do now and not forcing them in anyway the horse in this video couldt bend before and couldnt even turn around the gate when we got her out and now she can turn on a sixepence

  • yea its amazing to see you trotting on the roads with her, i could never do that i couldnt walk on the roads, he'd go unsound straight away, but hes sound now, but in england so i cant really do anything with him :(

  • She is beautiful!!!!! u should have got little more of riding in my opinion though:)

    <3 the ending!!!

  • SHE'S ADORIBLE! GREAT SONG! This is Corine, btw

  • Hey hiya thanx for your comment how you doing?

  • Good, you??

  • yea im gd ta

  • very good! 5 stars! whats the song called?

  • hey thanx its called Heaven

  • by who?

  • DJ Sammy

  • thanks I love the song! so ur mos horse has navicular? wow! I'm sorry can u still ride her?

  • no she did have navicular she hasnt anymore as we took her shoes off and have kept her barefoot now for 4 years and since then she has had a few problems but nothing so serouis and at the moment she is doing fantastic doing a dressage show on her hopefully in january, but we took her the natural root instead of having her nerve bolcks removed and so on and she is still ridable yes and is loving life lol

  • thts good 2-3 yrs ago I thought my horse had it but he's just premadona! ha ha he he! lol! thats great thats ur gonna do a show on her and she's lovin life!

  • yea well she had had quite a horrible life before and used to get beat up and made to do things she didnt want to do and now she is really happy, especially when there is food lol she once bit my thumb *and has left the scar to prove it lol* chasing after a bowl of food coz she gets spoilt and gets lots of food and love lol

  • thats the same with my 2 horses! lol! one time my moms horse was running tordes my dad and I and we both thought he wasn't gonna stop but he did! he stoped right at my dads side! I don't think we were breathing for about 1min-2min! I was never scared of a horse till then! but he's just a big overgrown dog! I think he really thinks he is a dog its kinda funny!

  • lol hehe yea i think my Zelda thinks she is dog lol, check out some of her vids lol she is soooo cute and she is ma baby girl

  • yea same with my horse spirit! but h'es not much of a dog but sometimes! its mostly my moms horse dandy. do u do prelli? I think thats how they spell it?

  • lol yea its parelli hehe, yea we do with all of them do you? not much of a parelli fan though coz they use bits lol but i still think its fantastic i like haute ecole better though lol

  • yea dandy is more of a parelli horse than spirit, spirit does do some of the 7 games I think we've goten about 4-5 games that he and I know but yea its ok I'm not of a parlli person, my mom and i normaly just train or ouwn way, whos haute ecole? and why don't u use bits?

  • Awesome video!

  • Thanx :)

  • aww, such a cute video!

  • cheers :)
