What did you get in your SAT 1 and 2? is it really tough? Like for example getting only a 2000 in SAT hints that you'd might not be able to get in?

@Nunchakus7 I got 2130 on SAT1. It wasn't too tough but that's only b/c I studied 4 months for it. SAT Math I got 780. And no not necessarily, I have a friend who's at MIT with me and he got in the 1800s. Colleges look at the application as a whole, not just one or two parts of it.

I'm a sophomore in high school, and i have a overall gpa of around 3.85, but honestly, I don't believe it's enough, that's why i'm going to take 3 AP courses next year& hopefully all AP courses in my senior year. But other than a decent GPA? What does it take to get into a top ranked engineering school like Caltech? Mind sharing your experiences? Thank you.

Over a 2100 on your SAT to be competitive. Preferably over a 2200. Your GPA isn't near high enough. For any other school, it's great. But you said "Other than a decent GPA..." It isn't a decent GPA. You have to have an OUTSTANDING GPA! My buddy just got into Caltech. 4.8 weighted GPA. 2250 on his SAT. Took up to Calculus 3 while in high school. 8 or 9 AP classes. You have to be absolutely outstanding to go to a top ranked school.

I started high school and I am starting to practice for the SAT right now. I got on the deans list this semester and I am trying to get on it for all of my high school years. I am also trying to do Computing for extra-curricular. One of my strongest subjects are Math and Science and my weaker subjects are English and Writing, but I am OK with History. If I try really hard for my 4 years, will I get into Caltech?

@DesiDito No, they ended up rejecting me. I'm a junior at MIT now and am really happy I chose MIT...even if Caltech did accept me I know I would prefer life here over there.
