  • I am the heroest hero of Herocore.

  • Did the Grand Annihilator Beta or whatever it exactly is kill itself by firing the Massacre?

Kind of surprising, though not caring for their health fits Komato Annihilatos in general and especially this example in particular.

By the way, I always considered those "super-charged shots" MPFBs, mainly due to their appearance, and the Guardian's (the Level 7 mecha-'s) blaster which fires three of these and is exactly like a MPFB Devastator.

  • I actually beat annihilation mode with relative ease, although that may have something to do with the fact that I use an SNES controller :3 I actually probably had a harder time with hard mode overall, mostly because it was waaaay longer than annihilation mode

  • @Jman37X Yeah, hard mode was insane. The room with the two Annihilators took me a couple hours to beat. Although, looking back at it, there were only 2 exceptionally difficult spots. The aformentioned Annihilator room, and the Level 7 (?) Boss. (The Mech where it's only vulnerable point was it's small core who's name escapes me.). But still, definitely not a walk in the park by any means.

  • @BeholdMyStrength Can't recall exactlly which boss you're talking about at the moment, but I do recall hearing about the double-annihilator room, and I recall seeing it in the game, but I never remember actually doing that room, so maybe it actually isn't required? I'm not sure, though, I'm playing through the game again on all difficulties, and I'm almost done with easy mode already, so I'll have to see.

  • @BeholdMyStrength Also, I think I figured out which boss you were talking about, does the Guardian Zone ring any bells? Giant robot that splits in 2 when his health gets low?

  • @Jman37X That's the one.

  • This makes me wonder how many Grand Unifying Theories this spawned. What exactly is the timeline, anyways? They could even take place at the same time, seeing as Earth.. well... everybody who's played Iji, you know it needed some protection. Especially since in Iji the Tasen are quick to say how they'll stop firing and pray that the Annihilator will just kill them swiftly.

  • @Death2NewGods My two theories on this are that Iji took place hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands of starturns ago. This is primarily inspired by the text explaining that the Annihilator is remnant of a terrible war of the past. Since the war in Iji is the war led by the Komato to commit Xenocide against the Tasen, we assume it was long ago that it ended, during Iji.

My other theory I found in a forum, explaining that the entire Hero series was made by Yukabacera, a Tasen Soldier.

  • @Dash123456789Brawl

Both of those make sense, but I personally hold that the Komato, despite the token efforts of Tor, Anasaksie, and others to further peace, created Tetron as a machine that would make war FOR them. Sounded good... but the Komato were far too along the path of self-destruction, and Tetron decided to go after the Komato as best it could: Zentraidon.

Following its destruction of the Komato in the near future of Iji, it goes after Earth / Origin to do what Tor never did.

  • @Dash123456789Brawl

This satisfactorily explains to me why Tetron's machines, who have no reason to be afraid of anything ((not even Flip Hero who, for spoiler reasons, they should be)) are afraid of the Ciretako. They are Komato, or at least Komato built. Additionally, if this were tens of thousands of starturns or even a few hundred starturns in the future, the rebuilt Earth in BOTH endings would have the ability to put down Tetron, assuming even a slow technological growth.

  • Eh, this seemed like a pretty lame prequel, Iji was a fun game, no question, but it really wasn't anything compared to this, and to have the two share a video game universe is really a bit of an insult to Hero in my opinion.

Plus, the Kamato Annihilator looks a lot better in Hero's graphics than in Iji's, it was just too simplistic too look cool in Iji, too little detail.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz I dunno, I rather enjoyed Iji, and thought it was absolutely great. Although the amount of effort he put into creating it probably blurs my vision a bit (Game Mkaer...I mean C'MON!), but still.

Although I will agree with your second statement, having all the extra detail on the Annihilator is quite good. Love the fact that you can see that this thing has been through hell.

  • "With our warmachines

    Gonna tear you up

    But they know it's wrong

    So they turn on us

    Welcome to Ciretako, aw yeah..."

  • Cool game and nice LP, BMS. I finally finished watching all of your other LPs, and now I can start Hexen. Looking forward to it.

  • It's funny how some of these weapons resemble the weapons from his previous game, Iji. In my opinion,

    Pellets: machine gun

    Bigger pellets: Shotgun/Buster gun

    Explodey things: Shocksplinter

    Giant pellets: Devestator

    Expel: Nuke

    Massacre: Massacre

  • lol i hope that first boss fight was just recorded fast foward and not played fast

  • Trollis was one of the testers for Iji who died during the development process.

  • @Ponicalica Oh, huh. I figured it was supposed to be the name of the soldier who'd been writing the ten logbooks, but that explains it much better, as well as adding significance. It really is too bad that Trollis didn't get to see the end product, or the positive feedback the game has received since it's release.

  • @Dash123456789Brawl Actually, I made a mistake. It wasn't a tester, it was Daniel Remar's cat.

  • @Ponicalica Oh, thank you for taking the time to correct yourself. Personally, I hate being misinformed, so I really appreciate it. Ignore the second sentence of my other comment, a cat wouldn't care much for that anyway. XP

  • IWBTG? Do it! Shitload of video games references also gameplay is not challenging but plain unfair. Perfect game for you BMS :)

  • You've impressed me again BMS! Seriously... I downloaded the game after seeing the first video of your LP, and, well... Let's just say I'm impressed, eh?

  • @BeholdMyStrength If you like challenging games check out "I Wanna Be The Guy". I have never played it myself but I Have seen youtube videos of it and it looks really fun and challenging, with lots of "vintage" video game references. Sounds like it would be right up your alley. check it out on youtube and maybe do an LP? =-)

Anyways good shit as always peace.

  • @420neoflash420 I second this. IWBTG is ridiculous!

  • I went back to Hero Forever and checked, they don't do anything but drag you to the next area and steal five of your flags.

  • I found one of those grabbers while playing Hero Forever. I was thinking it was one-hit kill, so I avoided it.

I'ma try to find it again and check it out again, see if there's anything special.

  • I'm glad someone's still reviewing old relics like this one.

    Beats modern warfares any day.

Have you ever played Another World? I'd love to hear you play that one.

  • @egzit Actually, this game was just released near the beginning of May...so I wouldn't exactly call it old! Another World? Yup, had an LP of both it (SNES Out of this World), and it's sequel "Heart of the Alien", but took them down due to poor quality.

  • @BeholdMyStrength Haha this one is new to me. I confess I hadn't read the description before commenting so I just assumed it was an oldie like the others.

Another World was intelligent, hell of a game. Any chance of re-upload?

  • @egzit Irony. :P

  • you aswell as another person has have be addicted to wanting to play this imma go download/save it and gladly waste hours ^_^. hmmm ill look around aobut trollis for ya?

  • @BeholdMyStrength Actually, Zentraidon, if I recall right, basically refers to the concept of self destruction though rampant technological advances, but I can't recall if the meaning of Zentraidon was mentioned in game, or something Daniel Remar said. Might have to do another playthough of Iji soon to see...

  • @AmatsuDarkfyre You're right, thanks for the correction. Went back and played a bit of Iji, found it, and it means roughly "self-annhiliation due to arrogance and rabid technological advancement". Seems your memory is better than mine!

  • Yeah i didn't understand the message in Morse Code..i dont remember that name being in Iji...where was it? O_o

  • @ChazDragoon "Zentraidon" seems to be the Tasen equivalent of "hell", but it's never elaborated on. A Komato text log as meaning "self-annhiliation due to arrogance and rabid technological advancement", a fate that the Precursors whom the Komato discovered succumbed to, research of said race lead to the Annhiliators. It's a taboo to suggest that the Komatos' research in these lost technologies, that clearly were the cause of one civilization-ending backfire already, will lead to Zentraidon.

  • There is one more secret that I know of. The room above..I believe it is the third save point, before the large snake you died to in the second part? There's a hatch with a different coloring. Go through it, you'll find ships. Inside this secret, there is a map to the whole Ciretako and something I have yet been unable to understand about Drones.

  • @Aurabolt That's bloody brilliant. Nice find there. I think it has something to do with a shapeshifting ability you learn after beating the game on hard.

  • @BeholdMyStrength Actually, you don't learn about it after beating Hard mode, you learn how to shapeshift via the secret room accessed from Old Base of hard mode. It requires that you beat every boss before Tetron however, because you need the 1/2 damage upgrade. And the text in the secret room above Ciretako explains that shapeshifting effects only the way the Drone enemy reacts to you, and nothing more. I'm not sure if this is useful in any way against the Reaper Drone.

  • @Dash123456789Brawl

By the way, the Reaper Drone boss fight is actually MORE difficult on both difficulties with the Drone shapeshift... rather than the Drones coming after you and presenting themselves for orderly extermination, they randomly move about the area... and knowing David Remar, this was purposefully done to slam people who tried to abuse their knowledge.

The man thinks of everything... putting this on TV Tropes under "Dev Team Thinks of Everything".

  • Is part of this video sped up?

    EDITING!

  • @BronzeAnkh easier then having to split the video and make a 4th part :P

  • @recentteen14 Plus, watching a 4 minute long battle, doing the same thing over and over would have been even more boring than it was sped up.

  • I dare to say this: Well done on a real good LP of annihilation mode. Three vids and you got just about everything down pat. I'd pose a sort of 'pacifist challenge' for you to take on against the living warmachine, but you have done well in this LP.
