  • the guy that is commentating sounds like my pedifile teacher mr.b

  • i am happy someone in USA wants High speed, it's like the only high speed you guys have is Acela or what ever its called, Maglev is really safe as well, But lets see how it goes

  • We better have better trains by 2020 like in OpenTTD or I'm going to flame the internet.

  • avg gas price in us-$3.61 as of 3/31/2011

    japan- $6.62

    france- $8.29

    china- $4.54

SO SUCK IT! YOU COULD KEEP UR TRAINS...WE GOT CHEAPER GAS!

  • @phspong We won't for much longer.

  • @0.49 epic wrinkles!!!

  • Someday the US will catch up in terms of transport I hope

  • Why the hell do Americans think they're entitled to be world leaders in everything? xD

  • @1Nickk1 Americans always get everything first, like they think they are the most important people on the planet and no one else matters.

  • @andrewbarrett42 not all americans feel that way quit stereotyping.

  • Usa poor still act cool man!!!!! still act as if very rich bla!!!!!

  • You don't know how expensive these are to run and how much electricity they consume. It takes hundreds of megawatts to accelerate them. You need to build build more power plants and it would greatly increase air pollution. The real reason us doesn't build them is becuase there is no demand for them. Almost nobody even takes trains in that country, since cars are so popular. It would be a waste to make something so expensive for such little use.

  • @xygomorphic44 Our rail ridership is so bad because our government screwed it up. We hardly have a passenger system at all. But where there are passenger services, ridership is high and still growing. High Speed and/or Maglev trains can work easily in the USA in certain regions.

  • @xygomorphic44 The only electricity that will be used is the track section that it's basically on.... It is green as can be, only using electricity on the track that it's sitting on or floating on... It's pretty cool!

  • @xygomorphic44 What the hell are you talking about??? There would certainly be a demand if there was a train that could go 300+mph. NE Rail Corridor ring a bell? And I'm sorry but you are flat wrong about the "extreme energy consumption" that these trains supposedly use. At 300 miles per hour in the open atmosphere, Maglev consumes only 0.4 megajoules per passenger mile, compared to 4 mj per passenger mile of oil fuel for a 20mpg auto that carries 1.8 people (the national average) at 60mph

  • @xygomorphic44 They are more energy efficient, extremely fast, no pollution emitted. In fact, even if they use electricity from coal- or natural-gas-fired power plants, the resulting CO2 emission is much less than that from autos, trucks, and airplanes, because of Maglev’s very high energy efficiency. If I had the opportunity to go from NY to Chicago on a high speed rail or CLE to either NY or CHI I would do it in a heartbeat. And I'm a freaking pilot.

  • these trains can reach the speed of light

    quantum mechanics is freaking awesome

  • @MrMrfazle No they can't, no matter can reach the speed of light, never mind a huge train.

  • why why us why me i love trains i will love to see this by my home why usa

  • @jaguarclaw You hit the nail on the fucking head

  • $4.36 Billion between DC and Baltimore?! That's only 30 miles which comes to about $145M/mile. That's more than triple the cost of the Shanghai Maglev! WHY DOES IT COST SO MUCH?

  • mono. Doh!

  • We don't have it because we're broke as shit, and it's completely fucked anyways because of decades of horrific planning (suburbs). GREAT JOB, USA. -_-

  • yesssssss! eat our dust !!

  • HAHAHAHAHAH both the highest rated comments start with 'lol'

  • if USA cannot afford that imagine India...in India there is a lot of money but in everyone's pockets........another 100 years also I don't see that happening in India...

  • so hows that 'hope and change' working for you?

  • "The hold up is because of this group?" *cough Government Regulation *cough

  • Arrr Scary new Technology... I don't like it! Lol joking... I sort of like Maglev but for some reason I just like the good old two rail system better. But with fast trains =). don't worry America cause Australias the Same.. Theirs been various plans since the 1980s but nothing has happened.. Slack ass Government!

  • Yah, I don't get it either.

  • tl;dr version: corruption and politics

  • Lets unite the world with maglev tracks.

  • Mag-lev is the future, Seattle to Vancouver Canada!

  • yes this is something we should have built 20 years ago. If Obama wanted to make a real new new deal he should have put all the stimulus money into mag lev trains. The interstate highway system was the result of the first new deal, so why not a interstate Mag lev system this time?

  • @Doggy589 gov't is somehow tied to oil industries. Since maglev involves 0 oil, the oil industries will be furious. U.S. gov't does not want that for some odd reason. This is why we haven't shifted from gas powered cars to electric cars. It has been done in the past, but that program was stopped because of oil industry.

  • America is just so 19th century.

I'm going on the Shanghai maglev in the new year, can't wait.

  • Warren Buffet invested in the American Railway System

  • someone make a car with this technology please. =]

  • in Roumania, between 1960-1980 was started production of ROLEV-Train(RomaniaLevitationTrain) After the revolution when communism dissapear, ROLEV was stoped :(

  • Without all the waiting and security bullshit.

    "Better"? Mind defining that term?

  • No, this is cheaper and less harmful.

  • LOL US can't afford this shit. They owe too much money.

  • Yeah they can their National Debt is smaller percentage to their GDP then, Italy, Greece, England etc. They are the wealthiest country in the World.

It's like if A: debt 100$ Worth 2000$ and B: Debt 10$ Worth 9.99$ See italy is 106% in debt of their GDP U.S only 56%

  • I think you have a hard time understanding how GDP works. The US also owes 56 trillion promised dollars to medicare for baby boomers. Again, the US can't afford this shit.

  • @laurent0etienne Italy and greece are NOT the wealthiest countries you moron. You prick where did you get that information??

  • @Alientank How about less military spending, and every country owes money. Countries will never not owe money...

  • @kevindagod Not true. It's possible for countries not to owe others. The unfortunate thing is money management.

  • fuck this, toss a maglev train in a vacuum, now your talking some serious speeds

  • China gets all the new toys.

  • yeah but china sucks

  • why there pretty cool (noticing how 80% of things in amerca are made in china)

  • yep

  • i went on this! its amazing!

  • I want to go! that sounds so cool!

  • First priority: GTFO of debt.

  • well said sir

  • Thankyou sir

    canada ftw!

  • @SatoTM3

In the end, I know maybe 1 out of 10 people that wanted Bush in for a second term. Its silly that you think the American people actually have a voice over what our government wants to do.

We live here so we must pay taxes. They have trillions of our dollars and we don't get a REAL say in what to do with it.

The USA Government is atrocious, the rest of us are just along for the ride and we can't do shit about it.

    Fuckin lobbyist crooks.

  • Word. Just live fuck and die xD

  • @SatoTM3 Obama sucks so bad, I'm actually starting to miss the Bush Administration.

  • @gibb1991 But he looks so smart and emotional when he's reading a teleprompter it makes me want to cry! You must be a racist.

  • @gazz12345a lol

  • @SatoTM3 thats my country ur talkin about usa dont suck

  • @SatoTM3 I'm from USA. Wish I wasn't though. I totally think USA sucks though.

  • they should run these trains trough vacuum tunnels since they dont get air resistance then :D

  • Hmmm...

Adding another 4.7 billion on the nation debt. I guess the financial department manager will losing hair even faster.

  • if all debt was paid off, there wouldn't be a single dollar in circulation due to the fact that chartered banks create debt out of thin air.

Besides the fact that because of interest, the national debt will never be paid off, because money to pay back the interest on the national debt doesn't exist. Which is what holds technology back.

  • hahaha I think someone just recited the Zeitgeist, I found that movie interesting but I think those statements need to be taken with caution

  • there is also the skytrain in Vancouver BC Canada. US is really slacking. damn car and oil companies.

  • that would be nice to go from major city to major city across the US in a fraction of the time. think about where you could go for the weekends!!! (if they built a huge infrastructure across the continent).

  • love the idea! it sux looking up and seeing a milky white sky from jet trails. it should be blue!!

  • Holy eff, 400km/h? That's crazy. I would totally love the idea of this.

  • for the fact we bailed out companies we didn't even need with the same and more money then this cost. It makes sense to let some of those sink. For the amount of money they could make over time allowing people to get to work and about.

  • they always have these pie in the sky budget estimates....until construction starts. then the real costs are revealed (think big dig, highway/bridge projects, etc). that is one reason this is not happening. another is you still have to drive to a train station, take the train, get off and somehow get to where you need to go. if not downtown served by another direct train, you are paying big money or making bus transfers. many professionals don't want that.

  • jajajajaj , of course we wont have this technology , lets continue making war to the world , right obama ?

    La Revolucion in process

  • are you here legally?

  • i do , i think stopping wars will be the best for humanity and start helping each other will be the solution for all our problems.

i still dont understand your question.

  • huh? then what did you respond to? yikes. further "stopping war"...so what is your response to 3k dead Americans, al Queero supported by Afghan govt, which says "FU ahole, they can stay here and do as they wish".?

your name is "latinonyc7" and you have spanish in your post. simply asked if you are here legally. perfectly legitimate question.

  • No body is building these in the U.S. and that upsets you? Why?

  • Haha, it's the central station in Stockholm at 2:01!

  • very cool

  • I thought of the "Maglev" when i was 10 years old (10 years ago). I didnt know i was 30 years too late lol

  • That is cheaper than i thought it would be. we spend that per week on the iraq war.

So instead of war we could have bought a sick nationwide MAGLEV system.

1 trillion on Iraq war... we could have also built a castle on the moon. or built a self sustained colony on mars. or built enough nuclear power plants, solar plants and geothermal plants to power the entire country forever.

Makes me want to punch our government in the face.

  • To Meejoe:

    Excellent comment.

    I agree 100%

  • wow, 1 trillion?? really?

  • why do you think we can't drop bombs on people and build trains? cut size of govt to 1/3. There's a huge chunk of change, and I could do it EASILY. "war on drugs" by how many different fed agencies? 14? +state+local and they don't get much done. fed ed department making obama vids for kids. cut it. etc.Why do you want to build a castle on the moon? Plants already use solar. I would like to see you "punch the govt in the face". funny, no matter how you do it or how it turns out!

  • what is the point of investing in MAGLEV if the French built TGV and the AGV - running on Rails are faster than MAGLEV??

  • Maglev is wáy safer and eco friendlier. :)

    No more train-car accidents. :)

  • $4.3 billion to build a maglev track from New York to Washington. That sounds like a bargain compared to the $15b 2 mi. tunnel that was built in Boston.

  • lol @ Boston

  • yes, sounds that way until you get actual numbers, just like the big dig. sell you pie in the sky numbers until the work begins, then "it's too late to turn back" and the sky is the limit.

  • omfg, c'mon, 8 BILLION dollars to develope this? boul s**t

  • magnets are expensive for one, two speed is never cheap. 4 high end cars will run 1million and those aren't even hyper cars. one Bugatti will set you back 1.2m + depending on the exchange rate

  • I hope this comes to Belgium so I don't have to sit in the bus for more than an hour to go to school

  • I wonder when uk will get this

  • maybe this would happen if we did not have to pay useless taxes for stuff like global warming and the stimulas package

  • the problem in US is that airline companies are lobbying against high-speed rails, and always were. it's not just about maglev. while Europe, Japan and China have plans already to take advantage of new technologies - US will be left behind. Unless americans actually wake up and do something, especially now when the white house is not run by a moron anymore.

  • I agree.

One more thing, Americans think that "the bigger the better". Like cars, why do you need a V8 that drinks gas like its going out of fashion when you have a car with a 4 cylinder engine that are just as good or most of the time even better. Take the Volvo V70 Flexifuel or the V50 DRIVe for example, sure not as powerful as a V8 but how often do you need the "extra power"?

  • first: learn to spell correctly.

second: calling someone a dumbass or using words like "shit "doesn't make you right.

third: you might be right on one thing though - you don't have enough money, especially now when your country has biggest debts and you continue spending money on wars.

P.S.: for some money do grow on trees.

  • o did you know you made a grammatical mistake when you said do grow on trees it should be does. This is youtube everything has to be right. I bet you 20 bucks you fantasize about men.

  • first, learn something about the US economy and history before lecturing others about debt and war funding. Using basic math and history skills, we see EVEN Clinton very quickly knocked down "the overpowering crushing debt...", although I disagree w/ how he did it. Current war spending relative to GDP is TINY compared to WW2, for example. You are a part of the new "hysterical media complex" which turns a grain of sand into a mountain. Hey, you still caning kids over there?

  • It seems to me you're the one that needs to learn some basics in economics, but that is another subject. The war is just one of the factors and I didn't say it's the main one, though it contributes... and taking just that into account would change a lot. Talking about what can be achieved by an economy or a country is a whole other subject as well - there are no rich or poor countries, there are simply good or bad managed ones.

  • typical, uneducated, b.s. reply. nah-ah, you're the one who needs to learn econ. that was brilliant. If you have nothing to say (like that...it is meaningless), shut up jerkoff. Next: here are YOUR WORDS: you might be right on one thing though - you don't have enough money, especially now when your country has biggest debts and you continue spending money on wars.>>debt and war...only two things you mentioned. I accurately debunked your b.s.. Of course some countries are poor. grow up idiot.

  • FYI: I have a PhD in economics.

Second: I don't have time to spend on ignorants that cannot even read what was said.

third: your tone and vulgar language denotes you got less brain and more anger. I suggest you make an apology before making any other comments.

and on a final note: I wonder if you'd be brave enough to meet face to face.

  • You don't even know me and you already labeling me? And also, my geographical location in the profile has nothing to do with where I'm actually from or where I live now - so stop with stereotypical conclusions, this is just pathetic.

  • And I also noticed your other comments... it seems to be you're very patriotic... but that sometimes blinds people. I'm a patriot of my country as well, but I would never make such arrogant comments.

  • Ups, shouldn't have tried to taunt lionbeat23

  • sorry to butt in but beyonce had one of the best videos of all time!

  • Massive!

Made me laugh on a shitty day..

  • ja ja ja , what we need is a new country .

  • We can expect it never. We don't even have a bullet train, let alone the concept of having maglev installed. It'd be stalled by complaints over budget and everything imaginable; not that maglev isn't a great idea.

  • i like the idea well it might cost some money but its worth the investmen to something that good i use train a lot and here we still got rails and it takes me about 2 hours to get to where im going cos of slow train and other thecnical errors or have to wait for incoming train or something so i would love it if it were like this all around globe.

  • Sure..Dep of energy is managed by big oil CEOs.They stop everything that doesnt involve their black water. They decide if a "alternative energy invention" hits the market.INSANE...Now bout maglev.Look&listen what they did 2 Timm Finrock

    watch?v=vTSvQRk8ra8

  • Yeah we need Maglevs, The problem is is that the already completed rail-infrastructure from the 20th century would have to be uprooted once again at a cost only to add more financial turmoil to the whole mess to BUILD an entirely new one. Much easier said and done for such a large country.......

  • Maglev is a very long term investment to replace not just traditional rail traffic but also short haul air traffic . Air traffic is going to become a lot more congested and expensive so it makes sense to replace short connections with these trains with almost plane like speeds . In fact Maglev trains may be near necessity in the near future and may look like a good deal for very crowded areas like northeast USA or sprawling cities like Los Angeles especially if it beats cars and planes.

  • waste of money

  • lol us is devolving into a 3rd world country.

  • @petrino: yeah, that's true if the government doesn't step up innovative research and development

  • cut the so called 'defence' spending and you'll have enough budget for everything else.

  • ya i think America made few mistakes in teh past that are holding USA back 1st is Vietnam 2nd is Iraq k there i said it instead of spending so muc money on those fucking wars we could have had those lavitating train babies from coast to coast from boarder to boarder

  • and when they lost billions and billions a year thru lack of ridership + maintenance, you'd cry "doh, stupid govt wasting....we could have rocket shoes". it is more complicated than "we are in Iraq, so we can't have a train".

  • people have no vision anymore. you only get to see the status quo.

  • the reason we dont see maglev all over the world right now is because countries and industry odnt want to build new infrastructure... they like the rails they have which dont cost anything, because they are already there. its the same with electric cars. using established systems is always cheaper than investing in new ones. and people are afraid to lose their share of the market (oil, rail, etc..)

  • man, I want magnetic trainy goodness too!

  • Oh how this country was forced to waste trillions recently. 8 billion is start, that number better grow.

  • America is dumping trillions just so B-2s, AC-130s, M1A2 Abram tanks and troops with M4 assault rifles can have some target practice, but they can't afford to fork out trillions to upgrade transit systems?

wonderful change Obama; wonderful change. I can just smell the mortars

  • where's that maglev in cannuckville. i want to ride it.

  • Americans are petroleum junkies!!

  • Think who is the pimp? The bourgeois of course

  • lol...whatever that is supposed to mean. i love you clowns who think you are highly intelligent, but simply spout idiotic slogans. What you wrote is an idiotic slogan.

  • Yay, Mag-Lev trains! XD

Anyone read Mortal Engines #4: A Darkling Plain? New London uses Mag Lev technology XD

  • bullet train?

  • trillions in pointless bail-outs and 8 billion for mag-lev development.

    change we can believe in

  • anybody else think that Biden looks kind of pissed in the Obama segments?

  • NO! You already have a a high speed train from DC to Baltimore that stops at BWI too! It's called the Acela, by Amtrak. It goes 135mh in that stretch in about 25 min. If you want faster times, upgrade that stretch of track. it's a lot cheaper to upgrade the current, semi-high speed right-of-way than to build a brand new one. Maglev's place is on brand new ROW, not existing rail ROW. The latter is more expensive & redundant.

  • common sense. +1

  • america needs this bad :(

  • You know if we stopped spending BILLIONS of dollars on the space station, and diverted THOSE funds to more deserving programs. Then THIS? wouldn't be such a money issue. Look up how much our govt. spends EACH YEAR on the space station. It's INSANE!!.

  • dont even go to space, right hear on earth we're spending trillions on a pointless war!

  • here*

  • I know. Look how "rich" our country would be if we stopped spending all of our money on pointless endeavors.

  • yes....afghanistan certainly is pointless....until they kill YOUR relatives in some city somewhere....then the whining and crying starts. you are selfish and don't thinks things through.

  • if you stopped spending on space research, you would never advance science. much tech and medicine etc you have today is BECAUSE of the space program. I am sure there is a good bit of fat, but that is not what you said.

  • Medicine?.... Advance MEDICINE???? At the space station???? One example of this, that's all I want. ONE. I WAS, after all... REFERRING to the space station. (and that IS what I said). ONE example, pertaining to the SPACE STATION. If you are going to ATTEMPT to correct me.... Do it pertaining to my original statement.

  • I'm not saying you are wrong or right, but I have trouble listening to someone who utilizes the word "bitch" in their username.

  • Dear god.... my username is a JOKE.. Would you have a problem listening to me if I made reference to the fact that I am pagan/wiccan? Or if I had a name that implied that I am fascinated by death and decay?????? It's intended to be a JOKE, and is no reflection of ME as a person...... Get over it.

  • how about we just eliminate money from the world? just burn it all up and everything will be free!

  • It's nice to see other people say that. You've made my day, my grandfather has been writing for the socialist standard magazine for years now, and all my life ive been filled with the idea of a moneyless, classless society, and i think it'l make the world alot better place.

  • :) :) :)

  • A moneyless society is called Communism!

  • No communism is just state capitalism, not true socialism..

  • eliminate money and you've eliminated my and many other peoples incentive to work.

    good luck with that

  • Well, its a good thing then that most probably your job can be automated by machines, along with around 90% of all jobs now.. And plus if you didn't go to work, what would you do? sit at home all day? having socialism far outweighs the benefits of "the incentive to work" that's a ploy put into your head by capitalism. When you have true freedom, and not this wage slave we have now, people act a hell of a lot different than they would with money in place.

  • why do you live in a democratic, capitalist country then? feel free to move to a utopia like China or N.K. You are free to work as little or as much as you want in America....as long as you don't want a bunch of ....stuff. Want a lot of stuff? You certainly aren't going to get it under socialism/communism...you are lucky to eat. You confuse capitalism with corrupt capitalism. Go out and get involved in local/state/federal governance and achieve at work...when you do, don't get corrupt! easy.

  • lol this is the same reason trains are not famous and use in Brasil too..we like to drive!! btw Obama have good sentences!

  • good sentences?

i've seen him stumble pretty badly a few times :-)

  • damnnnn that's fast lol. i wouldnt want to be in it when it starts accelerating :D

  • it seems pretty selfish to think that "hey that's my money, i don't want you to use it like that". americans got it lucky with their low taxes. i don't get it but wouldn't a faster rail system mean good things for all? just seemslike they want to better themselves rather than looking at how helping others can better themselves too -.-

  • That's 4.36 billion dollars, not 4.3 billion dollars.

  • americans are poor and in debt because they use credit cards for everthing. they use them to buy a 5 doller sandwitch, which is dumb, you shouldnt use them on things that wwill just go away in little time. and you should use cash.. its easy and simple. no credit needed.

  • Buying cheap items with credit cards is not why the united states is in debt. You know nothing about our economy.

  • America needs a mag-lev. No question about it.

  • lots of questions about it, actually.

  • Why should I have to pay for it? And then pay $200 to ride it? Thats what billionaires are for...

  • i totally agree they beef up money from '"ancestors" or where ever and never return to the public (not saying everyone is like this but still)

  • Can I put my car on a maglev train ?

  • I know how we can get the money to fund this.

Reduce the amount of money we spend on Warfare.

  • That'll never work!!

Thats like saying a black person will be president!

    ...wait

  • fuk u

  • Sp0ngeb0bM0n but that isnt working out to great is it :/.

there is no money for it. You guys are in 1.8 trillion in deficit spending. you going have to Sort your credit card out, before you get some new toys.

money doesnt grow on trees, well actually it does according to the fed.

  • that was a joke.

    and NOBODY got it :D

  • i got it lol
