However, going through the Dark Passion Play booklet, I noticed Emppu (their guitarist) wrote "Whoever Brings the Night" and that Marco (their bass player) wrote "The Islander" and "Higher than Hope" from Once. But Tuomas does most of the writing and was the one who brought Nightwish together in the first place.

Ya totally. I was in complete awe the first time I heard Poet and the Pendulum on DPP. I didn't even know music that good existed period. The symphony orchestra, band, both singers, and everything.

The scary thing is though, Tuomas says that the long epics are the easiest songs for him to write!

she's actually the PERFECT choice when you think about it. They didn't want another classical singer, who could never be anything more than a "cheap copycat" as Tuomas said. I dont think fans want a Tarja clone, even though it was hard to adjust at first.

You know, Tuomas gave us an example of genius-like insanity with this song. In my opinion, The Poet is THE symphonic metal ultimate creation. At least for me, it's going to stay a legend hard to be passed by any other band. It's like the whole universe is concentrated in just one song.
