WE REALLY NEED a new HD version, anyone can step up and offer the goods, I will pay them, $100....Ok, I'd do it myself if I knew the clip had existed. Always liked the song, had the cassette but it broke.

@thericecrispy2 : Razor & Tie re-issued it on cd in the 90's. Copies are pretty easy to find on eBay. I still own a perfect copy. Same for the Orion The Hunter album.
@dpumpkinqueen It was a good thing they left Scholz out. This was actually suppose to be the long awaited third album but thanks to Scholz and the label not wanting to produce it without Scholz led to one hellacious legal battle. This is the best cut on the LP but there are many other good ones. When you hear this song it is definately "BOSTON"
Barry absolutely loves his SGs.And Boy Howdy can he ever make them sing.Im sorry you lost your friend. He was good to this fan and Ill never forget either one of you or the great music you made together.KEEP ROCKIN AWAY
Fran Cosmo, then later his son Anthony both played with Boston. As Brad Delp would say in concert "Fran's voice rescues mine" at the upper end. Yes, they toured together. Saw them both in 04 then later with the "Home Depot Guy" in 08/09? Fran Sheehan was one of the "Founding Members" of Boston when Tom Scholz actually put a band together to tour.
Fran Cosmo is not the Fran from Boston, that would be Fran Sheehan. Marketing genius found a bass player with the same first name to promote the solo album and make it seem like Boston minus Tom.
Although Brad, Barry and Sib are a good core sound they didn't play on all the songs
@Noseyneighbor79 It IS Boston without Tom & Fran Sheehan. It sounds like Boston & should have been their 3rd album. So what if those other guys weren't there. They should've been as far as I'm concerned.
@Noseyneighbor79 Yeah, and I thought SURE Fran Cosmo and Sheehan were the same guy. I even drew a mustache on Cosmo on the Barry Goudreau album inner cover photo and convinced a bazillion people they were the same person. that was one BIG humble pie I had to eat.
Great song, great players. This should've been a major hit. Boston has always been my favorite band. There is "something about them" that just touches me & that says it all for me as far as rock n roll is concerned. I love the sound of Barry's guitar. Brad's voice will always be unmatched in this genre. I know that I'll be watching this one over & over again! Thanks!
My couins and I lived next door to each other and their father was singing and playing these songs all the time in their house. he was the guy playing the bass in this video. I was 11 in 1980. There is very few words to describe the Era for us on our street. It was really magic and we had a ball. This was a great video for me. Awesome*
Being that Boston didn't put out allot of albums(not that it's their fault) although all great, barry's first cuople solo records are just as special and are sort of like "the lost Boston albums" meaning they could easily be other Boston records.
This is a great song, and it was a shame that it wasn't included on a Boston album. It ended up on, Barry Gouderau's only solo LP. The record peaked at #88, and "Dreams" was only a minor hit.
Now, I have this song on my iPod. From March 2-6, I was listening to the song at a record 50 times.
this is not boston, sounds amazing but it isnt boston.
tom and brad was boston, i mean if you listen this isnt anything like how boston sounds.
and people who claim that third stage on sucks is stupid, third stage rocked, and corporate america was different but amazing. the only album that really stunk was walk on, but it had some good ones in there (livin' for you is amazing and get organized is awesome)
@twiggymac The More You Listen to Guitar Tones the More you'll begin to notice the Tonal Voicing Differences between Gibson's 24 3/4''Scale Length<(Which the L.P. & S.G. Share) and Fender and many others Longer 25 1/2" Scale Length!
@hyena667 i wasnt comparing the tone to a fender scale length, i know the differences in tone and such, the fact of the matter is an sg does NOT sound like a les paul. they are really damn close but there are so many factors that make them subtly different.
I find it incredibly ironic how this is Boston minus Tom back when they were great. Now its Tom and nobody else and he's trying to make it good when it should have been laid to rest when Brad was gone . Maybe he really has always been the problem. Incredible musician but he must really be a jerk....back then and now.
Brad ,Barry ,Fran, and Sib this is the boston I love and yea that guy Tom is not in this song but he by no means was Boston by himself .Even the great tom Scholtz needed a supporting cast and these guys were the best of the best ever in boston ! RIP Brad you are sorely missed!!!!.....
All I know is I saw Boston on "Third Stage" tour and I saw RTZ at a small hall in Atlanta, and RTZ sounded much more like "Boston" than Boston did. Sounds strange but true.
I picked up on the 60's vib in a posting I made some time ago. I thought the Beatles, with the shaking head movement. Brad Delp was a big Beatles fan, maybe this was some inspiration. How's Finland, cold I bet. I used to travel a lot to Oulu. Seem to remember a Tar flavoured drink called Lion's Head in English (Jemamo, something like that). If your could drink 12 you got a special badge to wear. I never got the badge!
Didn't they do an album under the name "Return to Zero" or something like that, I remember it in the 80's. I remember the name because the old vacuum column magnetic tape drives had a "return to zero" command and I used to work on that kind of stuff
This is neither. Its the first solo Barry Goudreau effort. Barry pulled this off when Tom told the band he wasn't writing any more songs for a while and needed to go on hiatus and settle a lawsuit with his manager.
I Like This Classic Boston Line-Up Barry Goudreau On Guitar Brad Delp Lead Vocals, Fran Cosmo Lead Vocals And Sib Hashian On Drums. They Still Have That Sound When They're Together Like What Boston Had.
I love this track, and there is something in the video that looks familiar. I think I've worked it out: Brad was a massive Beatles fan, this video reminds me of old footage of "She loves you", look at the way Brad shakes his head. I think this is a homage to the Fab 4, anyone else noticed this?
Anyway, thanks for the great music Brad, you are missed - bigtime.
a similarity between Michael Jackson and Brad Delp (can you believe it?!?!)...the surprisingly hidden negative private life behind the public image they portrayed. Is there a commonality between the two, in how their lives were destroyed?
Not sure how you draw this parallel,as I am not familiar with Delp's private life, but Jackson's is well documented. Maybe it was the pressure of maintaining, or returning to, that level of fame that lead to his untimely calling. His negative private was not hidden.
I think Brad was a lost soul, and beat himself up due to his own personnal expectations. Brad should have realised that his music meant a lot to many, many people. But, maybe even this would not live up to his expections, sad.
LHZZ12MM thanks for the feedback. I would have loved to have seen Boston live with Brad on vocals. Sadly this will not happen. I've seen the Blue Oyster Cult twice in London, and the Steve Miller Band in Toronto. Boston were on the list! Shame - RIP Brad, thanks for the great music!
i have the cd of the album that this song came from, i got it at barnes and noble, great album 1 of my favorites, i bought the album when it was released back in 1980 and i still have the record album almost 30 years later, r.i.p. brad delp, he was the best.
Ive never heard this one, and Im sorry I havent. This sounds like the old Boston,Brad and Barry forever. Scholz was too much of a dickhead. He also needs to put Cosmos back under that rock he found him under , "Walk On" was a f'kn joke!!
This song is played in my area (Minneapolis) by KQRS and they always comment on how this song cannot be found anywhere else. This seems to be fairly true (other than Amazon and maybe a couple others). Was hoping to find on iTunes or some mp3 site but no luck. Anyone have any download options???
Barry and Brad sound great! I heard they were brothers(in-law)? Why all the lawsuits from Tom? The band pictured on the 1st Boston album was the real band, right? And this is the drummer here playing great like we all remember too....
Tom Scholz was a control freak. While he was trying to reinvent the wheel with his MIT education, the rest of the band wanted to PLAY! This and RTZ was the result. Tom was too busy...in an effort to make 60's technology modern, w/o modern technology. In the meantime, he'd been passed by. Wished he'd just made music, as the rest of Boston did
"There were only two performers signed to make the debut album in the original Epic Records agreements, Brad and myself. We wrote all the music for the album, recorded the six demo songs that landed the deal, produced them in my basement, and funded all of it from my Polaroid salary.
The only other person who helped make those demos for the album was drummer Jim Masdea..who was the drummer for every demo I sent to record companies back in the 70's." - Tom Scholz, 2009
Tom may have had some issues with other band members about direction, but Brad Delp was never, ever considered a "troublemaker". Brad and Tom were very close -- friends and partners for 35 years. Rumors about Tom putting pressure on Brad were pure BS and Tom was treated unfairly after Brad's death, and Brad would not have wanted that for Tom. Brad was the kindest, most loving, sweetest and gentlest soul.
tom and boston are still together, yes tom is the reason they have their unique sound. when brad died a part of boston died, and also fran cosmo didn't come back for 2008 tour, now they have newcomer tommy decarlo and stryper's michael sweet on vocals. boston is going to do another record, i just hope fran's included. brad rip
Without Tom there is no Boston, but the Band was never really a band in Tom's opinion. What I am saying is listen to this song written, produced and performed without Tom. Even though Boston was a better band with Tom, the other members ALL contributed. I'm sure Tom has his issues and had a right to sue when he did. But he also drug his feet to the point that the record company sued him. Boston screwed up by not riding that wave when they could have. They would have been a super-group.
Sorry for the typos below. Don't get me wrong. Tom is a Genius. What I am saying is historically Brad was stuck in the middle for all of those years. Trying to keep Tom happy and helping the rest of the original band whereever he could. It was a political nightmare, especially with Brad marrying one of his ex-bandmates sister-in laws.
You can always see how Brad was almost scared of Tom. And Tom acted like a Boss to Brad. He worked as the lead singer for Boston. Tom is brilliant and was the leader of Boston, but he screwed over all of the other members. And Brad committing suicide the day before Tom's Birthday was a private message to Tom. Remember what you did each year.
you seem to know about boston's members. I'm confused. Did barry and Tom not play at the same time? And was Tom not a good member? Can you send me a PM explaining all of this because I'm very curious. Thanks
Boston without Tom. Shows how important each original memeber was. I think Tom never recovered from those early Boston lawsuits and just became litigeous. And this killed Brad Delp. Bing stuck in the middle, as he kept in touch with all of the original members, who were ousted by Tom.
one thing ive wondered about boston is why tom sholtz stayed idle between 79-87 i believe barry and the rest of the band decided to put this out in 80 and why the hell epic didnt promote this album its brilliant
Between the years 1979 and 1987 Tom was busy defending himself in two lawsuits. One from Boston's manager. A guy named Ahern who demanded royalties from anything Tom wrote or produced in the future. And from CBS records who were pissed about the third album taking so long. While he was trying to defend himself he also was building a state of the art studio in his basement and he was writing music for the Walk On album. So he did keep quite busy. And don't forget about his electronics business.
Barry Goudreau left the band in 1980. But the delay between Don't Look Back, and Third Stage was caused by the band's former manager's lawsuit regarding the rights to future Boston songs. Tom Scholz was smart in not recording anything until that was settled. Sib Hashian had also left Boston prior to performing on this album. And Epic didn't promote it because they had nothing to do with the album
Actually Boston didnt do this song. This was a solo progect that these two did while wating for a lawsuit to settle between Boston and their former manager, who claimed he owned a percentage of all Boston songs...
KILLER song! GREAT melodic guitars, vocals, songcraft, etc.! I just 'rediscovered' the album which this song is on (titled simply 'Barry Goudreau'), and it is EXCELLENT!!!
Dreams are all that I had with you, "Barry Goudreau" (the group). Boy... these fellas were totally ready to crank us out more jams! This is total proof that we could and should have had more Boston music. :-/
Hard not to just blame Tom Scholz, but I'll reserve judgement since I dono.
Who's the bassist and drummer on this video? Great song, beautiful voice. Brad Delp's not dead in our hearts, he'll be always alive for those whom loving his music and his blessed voice!!
GREAT song and sound! I remember cruising around in my convertible, going down to the Jersey shore with my friends... top down... CRANKING this song!!! Ahhh, the memories and good times!!!
Brad was trying to help his buddies out here. The rest of the members of Boston. All that is missing is Tom. Listen to them.Imagine being in the middle of all of these guys. ALWAYS having to hear both sides. It would kill anyone. A sad story, behind a lot of amazing bands are lawsuits & in-fighting. I will always love & respect this Band. Regardless of what happened. I only wish they all could have been happy. Including Tom. It must have bugged him too, to feel he had to protect Boston's name.
I bought a copy from Barns An Noble, They have a website, I ordered it like on a Monday, an it was at my door on Wedesday! They don"t make music like this anymore do they.
someone somewhere HAS to have a better copy of this CLASSIC....

Ive never heard this one, and Im sorry I havent. This sounds like the old Boston,Brad and Barry forever. Scholz was too much of a dickhead. He also needs to put Cosmos back under that rock he found him under , "Walk On" was a f'kn joke!!

Why the rip on Cosmo? Just curious. plus you might want to read bc1271 comment looks like he knows more than you and me

Barry sued Tom, not vice versa mate.
Frabcan 2 years ago

The only other person who helped make those demos for the album was drummer Jim Masdea..who was the drummer for every demo I sent to record companies back in the 70's." - Tom Scholz, 2009
stevenkh1 2 years ago
Tom may have had some issues with other band members about direction, but Brad Delp was never, ever considered a "troublemaker". Brad and Tom were very close -- friends and partners for 35 years. Rumors about Tom putting pressure on Brad were pure BS and Tom was treated unfairly after Brad's death, and Brad would not have wanted that for Tom. Brad was the kindest, most loving, sweetest and gentlest soul.

tom and boston are still together, yes tom is the reason they have their unique sound. when brad died a part of boston died, and also fran cosmo didn't come back for 2008 tour, now they have newcomer tommy decarlo and stryper's michael sweet on vocals. boston is going to do another record, i just hope fran's included. brad rip

Point blank and no fucking argument without barry there is no boston!!period!!!This song is one of his best and everyone thinks its boston!

Boston was 100% Toms bitch - I totally agree.
Miss the hell out of Brad though. First class guy.
luckyvet 2 years ago
Sorry for the typos below. Don't get me wrong. Tom is a Genius. What I am saying is historically Brad was stuck in the middle for all of those years. Trying to keep Tom happy and helping the rest of the original band whereever he could. It was a political nightmare, especially with Brad marrying one of his ex-bandmates sister-in laws.

well why would Boston get rid of Barry and Sid?

You can always see how Brad was almost scared of Tom. And Tom acted like a Boss to Brad. He worked as the lead singer for Boston. Tom is brilliant and was the leader of Boston, but he screwed over all of the other members. And Brad committing suicide the day before Tom's Birthday was a private message to Tom. Remember what you did each year.
MediaPointEnt 2 years ago
you seem to know about boston's members. I'm confused. Did barry and Tom not play at the same time? And was Tom not a good member? Can you send me a PM explaining all of this because I'm very curious. Thanks

"Tom is brilliant and was the leader of Boston, but he screwed over all of the other members"
Thanks for the heads up. I always thought Tom was militantly business / organized type while Brad was soft.
luckyvet 2 years ago
Boston without Tom. Shows how important each original memeber was. I think Tom never recovered from those early Boston lawsuits and just became litigeous. And this killed Brad Delp. Bing stuck in the middle, as he kept in touch with all of the original members, who were ousted by Tom.
MediaPointEnt 2 years ago
one thing ive wondered about boston is why tom sholtz stayed idle between 79-87 i believe barry and the rest of the band decided to put this out in 80 and why the hell epic didnt promote this album its brilliant
dadadruma 2 years ago
Between the years 1979 and 1987 Tom was busy defending himself in two lawsuits. One from Boston's manager. A guy named Ahern who demanded royalties from anything Tom wrote or produced in the future. And from CBS records who were pissed about the third album taking so long. While he was trying to defend himself he also was building a state of the art studio in his basement and he was writing music for the Walk On album. So he did keep quite busy. And don't forget about his electronics business.
spiderdragon1969 2 years ago
Barry Goudreau left the band in 1980. But the delay between Don't Look Back, and Third Stage was caused by the band's former manager's lawsuit regarding the rights to future Boston songs. Tom Scholz was smart in not recording anything until that was settled. Sib Hashian had also left Boston prior to performing on this album. And Epic didn't promote it because they had nothing to do with the album

this is my favorite song that Boston did with Barry Goudreau. Such an awesome song! can't get any better than that!

Actually Boston didnt do this song. This was a solo progect that these two did while wating for a lawsuit to settle between Boston and their former manager, who claimed he owned a percentage of all Boston songs...
