I'd like to visit the town again. My hubby was born here but moved to LA as a baby. His Dad hated the cold/snow.We live in the south now and want to go back and see more of Oneonta.I didn't see that much of the town but is the library still in the old house?
@HattieLovesCattie Yes, the Huntington Memorial library, still in teh old Huntington Mansion. Huntington had a job in a little hardware store in Oneonta before he went to Calif and became one of teh "Big 4" that started the railroad to California. He remembered us with a library.
@sumiink I've seen the famous Huntington Gardens and lived for a few years in Huntington Beach,CA.My late in-laws lived mostly in Pasadena.Hubby said we saw enough of Oenonta but I'd like to see more, esp.the nice mansions.Hubby was born in the small clinic which my late MIL said he was born in the shrink's office as Fox Hospital was built I think a few years later.
I've been trying to talk my wife into moving to Oneonta. i grew up there and honestly miss the hell out of it. Hard to believe the prices of houses there. I looked online at Exit Realty and houses that would go for 300k here in NC go for 70-125k there. $320/mo. You lucky bastards. ;) Amazing seeing all those 2-3 story homes. Thanks for the trip, I recognised a lot. Feel free to reply to me, looking forward to talking with some of you to see how things are going. Went to Greater Plains. Now 34.
Jesus Oneonta looks so much nicer on video. It's like "wow what a nice town" in real life but here it's like "holy crap hometown america its so perfect".
Funny, I sometimes have the same feeling. It is one of the most popular tunes in Japan these days, from the big hit movie, "Spirited away." Sen to Chihiro...
My kid was playing it on the CD player, and it just seemed to fit Oneonta that day. Japan is the only country I know to have it national anthem in a monor key.
i live there and
i love it

<---------Haha look at my name (some where up there)
I used to live there, but my family moved back the California
Oneonta:•5 min. walk to the library •Only one big store, Walmart •Nearest mall is like 45 min. away in Gadsen •Many trees
Canoga Park, CA
•Mall is 5 min. walk away
•Library is 30 min. walk away
•Less trees
•No southern accents
•No grumpy librarians (it's a joke the lady at OPL is mean)
•More fights in schools
