I have to say I was very disappointed with this video. When it first started, I thought the video wouldn't do the mistake of many other videos and try to recreate the events in the song as the metaphor and the meaning contrast.
A better idea would have been to have the puppet not play out the events, but instead have the girl use it as a consolation as the events of the break-up have already occurred as she wallows in her sadness and ultimately conclude this post-break-up period in tragedy.
Started strong, but ended soft...I think a fewer quick cuts were due, especially when it kicks up "and he walked all night long" -quick flash of ocean, about 20frames- "till he was stopped by the shore of the ocean" -shot of his feet getting splashed by water-...etc....
Also, the camera wasn't level, which is annoying as all hell. Otherwise, good, but it slows down too much in spots.
