I don't understand, when the crew captain say the rules of the flight, like:Turn of the cell phone, turn of the video cameras,etc...so,how this guy(of the camera) is making a video of this landing? With his camera turned ON....how it's possible?
@felipegames12 it really is a stupid rule. Cameras dont interfere with anything onboard the aircraft. If it was a serious issue, then wouldn't it just make sense to not allow cameras in carry on luggage?
why do pilots turn off the A/P so early??? in the flightsimulator i turn it off about 500 ft in the air before touch down. i know its different but im curious. I want my flightsimulator expirience to be more real until im a pilot!
@ThePilotBuddy well basically there are three different procedures: Cat I( about 2500 ft), Cat II ( about 1200 Ft and Cat III which is 500 ft but there's also the CAt IIIc, it's generally used when the visibility is 0/0 and you only disconnect the autopilot after you've landed. Unless there's no visibility at all, manual landings are way safer simply because you have a human being at the controls, not a computer.
Very good video, but, what is the company??? Where this flight is coming from? I don't think it is Alitalia by the way because the pilots are inglish even though they may have inglish pilot, I don't know...
nice vidio, back in the days they didn't have speakers that tells u how high u r,i have always loved boeing and,if it is no't Boeing no body is going and, flyig scare bus is my least favorite plane, thanks 4 posting!
Stable approach after AP Dis...followed by a soft touch. Still can't believe the A/C only has 8 items for Landing Checklist. Aint technology amazing? "If its not Boeing, I aint going." :-)
"lol about the dvd but on a flight that long you would have an extra crew (relief pilots) to take over for a short while during cruise while the main crew rest (some 777s have a crew rest area above the main deck). In the cockpit pilots moniter whats going on and look at the amazing views or socalize with their collegues."
i thought they just used autopilot. when i flew B744 to LA from auckland, new zealand it was a 14 hour flight there were no other relief pilots
I am amazed when I see videos like this. Huge pieces of machinery like that, all controlled by two highly trained people operating all of those knobs, switches, controls, computers....it's mind boggling to me, and very impressive!
@smitty195 Its really not as bad as you might think most of the plane is automatic my dad went through training on the 777 for COA and it took him 6 weeks to get his FAA type rating. A lot of it has to do with knowing where the switches are which actually doesn't take that long. The only difficult part is the systems test in which they have to take which consists of all the aircraft systems such as, pneumatics, flight controls, flows, etc.
what the sound at 0.15 and why don't they continue flying the ILS this must be equipped with CATIII, also why is the first officer the one landing the plane doesn't the captain do those sort of things or do they switch round
the captain isn't always landing the plane! CATIII??? there was a great weather condition. they were able to see more than 10 miles!! I think its great when pilots land their planes manual!
haha yes it may look like that but with the time a pilot will be able to do a great landing with a 777. Usually a landing by hand is smoother and the pilot can have some "fun".
I know some people will not believe this. Just have a look at other cockpit videos of Airplanes landing. If the visibility is ok, the landing will be flown by hand...
Sometimes they turn it off before lining up with the runway, and sometimes when already lined up during finals.
Well the copilot needs experience so the captain will let him fly. If the conditions would be bad (gusty wind, bad visibility etc...) the captain would be flying...
Well im not really sure about that. First you would have to enter there cadet programm (minimum age 18 i think) and then after a few years you maybe could be a 777 copilot. You would start on a smaller jet.
i friend flew 777s for american . he was copilot. i thought he said they take turns taking off and landing but never can he taxi. only the capo can taxi. anyway my favorite airliner...
True, mostly the copilot is on the way to the dest. the Pilot Flying, and the captain back. It's no rule but mostly the captain asks on the CP if he wants to do the first or second flight. And mostly first is choosen because copilots don't want to land on their home airport and captains doesn't care if they land on TNCM (Sint Maarten) or EHAM (Amsterdam). They did already hundreds of landings
i looooooove 777, but i dont like fully auto landings and this one was auto-land, its just a hard landing ( vertical speed -800 !! ) thats why i like Egypt air because they never auto-land...
He did use reverse engines. He engages the levers immediately the plane touches. Just incase, its the two levers that look like they sitting ontop of the main forward thrust levers.
I thought BA stopped service to GRU/GIG with the 777, thats why they use the 744 now. I remember flying on a T7 to Rio, but now the route is operated with the 747.

Yeah, it must be a BA 777, at 0:06 their accent sound quite British.
