Danny Boyle honestly has to be the best and kindest director ever. I saw the 'Making of' and wow he is incredible. He lets the crew do their work without even raising his voice. If Michael Bay is the Hitler of directors, Danny Boyle is the Gandhi. Just amazing.
@MzChelxoxo was it the part when he says " a kind of levity" made you think that? Cuz thats what I thought as well :P Probably because he was sitting next to Danny.
Jeez, the more interviews with Franco I see, the guy just keeps coming across as a pompous prick. I mean, I want to like him more than I do--he's a fucking good actor, but he just kinda takes over all discussions. Seems like he takes himself a bit too seriously.
its really sad that aron has'nt sleeped for five days! trying to escape in google it shows him escape with his arm! but in other pictures it shows he don't have a arm
@Mistaken4starz yes cos this is james franco, its a film...did you seriously think he'd cut his arm off for a movie?! the real guy whom its based on is aron ralston. google him, he has a mechanical arm.
@born2war1 yes cos this is james franco, its a film...did you seriously think he'd cut his arm off for a movie?! the real guy whom its based on is aron ralston. google him, he has a mechanical arm.
An elderly couple on an off-road adventure battle for their lives when their vehicle turns on its side. Without water and with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees the couple wander for 4 days through the dangerous and rugged canyons in New Mexico.
James's acting had me fully believing it was actually him that it happened to. He took you inside his head and the mental emotions he was going through. I don't think another actor could have done it so well. Amazing performance!
@xdonline69 , they didn't. The real Aron has a mechanical arm now. His real arm was decaying as he was trapped. It lost circulation and "died". It took 13 men and and a Winch to remove his arm from beneath the 800 lb boulder and Aron, himself, had it cremated and he scattered the ashes near the canyon where he had his accident. It's really inspiring, in fact.
@EDHtheauthor where did you find that out? I have never heard that until now. I saw the interview with Aron 6 months after the accident when he went back and his arm wasn't there but the boulder still was.
JF deserved his Oscar for the role of Aaron Ralston.Watch his face go from defiant to scared to regretting to lost without saying a word. Watch his body once he's trapped down, the tears that form in his eyes…
Yes, Firth did a good job but just re-watched this movie.
No doubt some will bring up his hosting and use that to belittle his acting ability. It won't work. the guy is one of the best actors working today.
Marvellous film, it had me hiding my face behind a pillow due to the tension, but remember folks: the moral of the story isn't "If you're arm is trapped, cut it off." I would have been happy to died down in that canyon. It's too much emotion pressure and pain to go through.
This was such a great movie,i love the message of the movie and the saying at the end of this video:"there is no force on earth more powerful than the will to live". I wuld have also loved to see the real aaron rolstons video clips he made.
I love the rapport between Danny Boyle and James Franco...they seem to have this mutual respect for one another...there doesn't seem to be this big ego trip to show whose the "bigger man" looool. it is rather refreshing to watch interviews likes this. I agree with "cinesimonj", the interviewer was also surprisingly good.
James Franco... you are not English... so why doest thou sound like one in this interview? You are from Palo Alto, California, dude. Were you not aware that you were being interviewed as yourself and not a jolly Brit character?
@thestranger4812 No, not all movies. Many filmmakers today are too indulged in effects and box office receipts that they fail to make fully-realized films that reach their true potential.
@thestranger4812 not necessarily. i wouldn't call documentaries works of art. those are more informative than anything. they want to get a message across, rather than tell a story. i'm not saying that movies dont send messages, but u know what i mean. maybe the phrase "work of art" was not the right way to put it, but it definitely was a very appealing movie.
Goodness you can really tell just how much danny's accent rubbed off on James during this period, especially when you compare these interviews to other ones. Haha so prominent.
the movie literaly made me cry at the end not cause it was bad or sad but just because it gave me this type of emotion that made me feel as if i was one of aron's family member and I had watched him get out from first person. Really put a good story of triumph and will
read some of the comments. 127 Hours was my second favorite film. Inception being the first, with a VERY VERY close thrid favorite of The King's Speech. I understand why TKS won, but I still hold to Inception being the best film of 2010...BUT, with that said. 127 was a personal favorite. @TopazSkillMauler Get off facebook!! The soc. Network was made because the producers knew it would make money, it wasn't art, they got a good director, and told the writers to make shit up so it would be more "exciting."

I thought this was the best movie of 2010, and seeing the social network, I don't understand why the social network won the golden globe.

@3ISAMAGICNUMBR I thought Social network was really good, but not quite "Best picture" worthy.

@3ISAMAGICNUMBR It's easy, cause it's about facebook. AKA, society's downfall.

@TopazSkillMauler Get off facebook!! The soc. Network was made because the producers knew it would make money, it wasn't art, they got a good director, and told the writers to make shit up so it would be more "exciting."

@3ISAMAGICNUMBR "Network was made because the producers knew it would make money" What produces makes a movie to not make money?

@TopazSkillMauler Matter of opinion and two entirely different movies. Of course Oscars will always choose the boring movies.
