to everyone talking about hiss on this amp....all I can say is I have problems with all my stuff because of the wiring in my house...if I shut down the computer...unplug the refridgerator....I get a cleaner signal...older houses and apartment blds have sub standard wiring and it really reaks havock on low end frequencies....please forgive my spelling as I have been drinkin all day at the pool....just trying to help...and im looking at buying this amp...why Im here...Nice vid kenecchi
i got the ba 112 today i started with the -15dB because they say you should use it if you have an active bass with i was disapointed with the volume so i swiched to the 0dB imput and let me tell if you want a ton of bottom end and bearly have to turn up your volume to make the windows rattle then use the 0dB plus if you this imput you will not have to turn it up as loud and there for not have the amp hiss at you
Help please! I am a begginer and uncle gave me this amp.. I dont understand meaning of "master" and "volume".. What about "gain"? Can I get better explaination?
@man0999 Whenever I've recorded with it, I've run a direct line from the XLR output on the amp to my mixer as well as mic'ing the amp itself . Keeping the gain on the mic fairly low keeps me from picking up the hiss, and the direct signal keeps the volume and clarity in tact, IMO.
hi! nice review. i got this amp two weeks ago, it sounds really nice. as someone said before, mine makes that hiss when i turn it on, so i guess every unit does it. One thing.. i think that when you turn up the volume to the top, it isn't very "loud". do you think it can be used for a small-medium venue?
@franchupucara Try using the 0db input. It is a relatively small amp though, 115 watts isn't a ton of power for a bass amp. I would think it'd be good for a small venue, and it's more than anyone would need for a practice amp. Anything other than that and you might consider getting something bigger.
@kenecchi its only 100 watts in the ba combos unless you have the 300 or the 600 the last two numbers stand for the speaker size i have the 112 it a 50 watt with a 12 inch speaker
i just bought this amp today and i like the sound but occasionally i get some crackles out of it. im not sure if it is from my bass or since its brand new? please respond
I have one of these. Really good sounds can be produced from it. My only complaint is that it's really heavy if you do lots of traveling with it, but it's soft of a stage monitor, so it really doesn't surprise me.
haha Pet Shops. Ironic cuz im buying this amp and i work at a pet store..so i know it will be good there! thanks dude. Might get a noise supressor for that hiss
I bought mine yesterday ^^ but when i started playing and turned the "bass" on the amp up it started making a wierd sound. it was like it was something loose inside so im going to go to the store again today:p
You could mic it, or use the balanced Line Out to your Interface / Mixer.
Microphones sound better, but you'll have to experience a lot of mics / positions to find the sound you want. Recording it on the Line Out it's easier.
Hey man, can I just ask if I had a Mic infront of the amp leading it straight to a P.A would the mic pick up the hiss? and if so, how badly would this affect my sound?
Thanks a million dude, I think I might go for the Hartke A100, I just need to hear one more good thing about it. :P Thing is, this has a horn and is cheaper. So if I can hear one more good thing about this, then I will probs go for this amp.
I don't see why you couldn't use it with passive pickups, but I'm pretty sure such a thing exists to take some of the "bite" off of the hotter signal which comes from an active set.
thanks for this video FOR FREE
very usefull

could you play like school gym with this or a small venue to a large venue with this and be over the drums or should i get a fender rumble ,350
skate4life7999 1 year ago
@man0999
some people put a switch on the tweeter, to turn it off when it's not needed
that cancels the hiss
best of luck

I was deciding between the non tube one and the heavy acoustic b200, but that's like close to 15 lbs more.
Nothing to a guy, but a big difference, esp when I can't get a guy to help me lug it around.

They all make a bit of a hissing noise, it's just part of how the amp is designed. Mine does that too.
kenecchi 2 years ago
Sounds really nice. What bass are u using this with? And how long have u owned it and how's it keepin up?
nirvana922 2 years ago
I'm playing an Ibanez SR2XEX1 with EMG pickups. The amp makes it sound like something more expensive. ^^
I've had the amp for about 2 months now, it sounds great and I haven't had a bit of trouble with it.

Hey man, can I just ask if I had a Mic infront of the amp leading it straight to a P.A would the mic pick up the hiss? and if so, how badly would this affect my sound?
kungfuridinghood 2 years ago
You might hear it on the mic, but just barely. Coming over a PA system you probably wouldn't even notice it.
