  • boy he had a great deep toned voice. When I saw him in that republic b wester and he was singing Raw hide i thought that was excellent

  • A powerful voice, great!

  • Vaughn Monroe demonstrating his well-deserved nickname:

    "Old Leather Tonsils".

Sure, he's great. But to us his voice sounds like a foghorn.

  • For me this is out of left field - absolutely fabulous - cruisey sound to play again and again. Thanks RR. Graham Melb Aus

  • Great to hear this version !! Love the sax section !!

  • Great to hear this version !!

  • Oh how lovely.......

  • awesome! TY Candy and poster-for this absolute treasure!!!

  • A dream come true to hear this sublime Cole Porter classic come to life in the

fabulous voice of Vaughn Monroe! Very much enjoyed this elegant but upbeat

    arrangement! Thanks for posting!

  • Ahhh...it's almost like listening to a 33 RPM...love it!

  • Best baritone-sounds very trained I like his "Time Alone Will Tell"

  • Glad to hear this.

I love how the track doesn't end with the singer but wth the band.

This is the superior ItSotNight to the 50s song of the same name.

  • I love this song and I can't imagine where you came up with this recording. It must have been awfully hard to find. I'm a big fan of Vaughn Monroe and I never heard this one. Thank you for posting it. It must have been one of his first recordings. Thanks again.

  • Wonderfully sung! TY Candy

  • Great Baritone! and a talented musician.

  • You Wouldn't happen to have a recording of Will Osborne's version would you?

  • One of my favourite songs. Beautiful voice, nice recording. THANKS!!!

  • Wondering why the Four Aces version hasn't been posted. It's the one I remember most vividly, but can't find it anywhere.

  • example of...

  • Chapter 8 example of

  • Geez! Vaughn Monroe singing Cole Porter. How the hell can you top that? The All-American boy singing from the All American songbook. It's hard to believe someone somewhere doesn't appreciate it.

  • I also like the Vaughn Monroe song "Dance, Ballerina, Dance" very much. Mr Monroe sang right up the road a piece from where I presently live on Pompton Turnpike in Cedar Grove NJ. The name of the venue was The Meadowbrook. ~ Stewart Burnett !!!

  • Nice job by a true star.

  • One of the underrated singers in the business! For that reason Monroe has not really been given his due in the world of music. One of the greats, for sure. And so long as I'm at it, may I ask if anyone can post his timeless pieces, "Let's Get Lost" and "Now It Can Be Told," which I thought for certain would be included here on YouTube?

  • this good brother resembles uncle john wright

  • excelente

  • Very glad you enjoy it! Monroe had the voice quality to have succeeded as an opera star--had he chosen that path.

    Best wishes,

    -RR

  • Great rendition. Monroe primarily played trumpet with Marshard, and only occasionally sang. This was done before Monroe started his own band, at Marshard's urging and had his voice retrained to be more "crooner" like.

    One of my favorite recordings/

  • Excellent information, Herb--I appreciate it. I had always loved Vaughn's "Ghost Riders" but only recently discovered his earlier crooning work. A great talent, certainly!

  • @RReady555 How about "Racing With the Moon"?

  • Great rendition!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Very glad you like it too, Corrie. Stay tuned!

    -RR

  • thank you for another great post ,,,,,,

  • One of Cole Porter's finest--and Monroe's rendition remains the best!

    Regards,

    -RR
