Good review. Actually opened my eyes in some ways. But still: I like the movie. I like it a lot actually. A movie doesn't necessarily need to be perfect in case of continuity, originality and/or believable character development. Of course all of that are big, giant bonus points, but a movie can still be entertaining even with all the flaws.

I get a lot about what you're saying but...you *are* over analyzing it. It's a movie where toys can talk, move, think, and interact with their environment...and yet you're calling them out on the physics of the golf club to the magnet? Fine, they took some liberties here and there but come on...if you watch the film without such a cynical attitude and, yes, with an appreciation for the previous two it's legitimately a great movie; despite some continuity problems and such. My two cents. XD
One last thing, I don't mind if you dislike the film, but was that ending really neccesary? It makes you come off as incredibly pretentious and ignorant to anyone who may happen to have a legitimate reason for disagreeing with you.

Many of the movies' plot holes/contrivances actually do make sense or can be explained without a stretch. Furthermore, its may follow the formula a bit too closely, but that's been done before to great effect (Terminator II). Besides, it introduces the theme of letting go and is still great fun to watch with its jailbreak sequence and such. Nevertheless, I do agree; the movie is COMPLETELY overrated. It provides some necessary closure and lots of fun, but it could have been much better.
I am so glad I am not the only one in the world who was fucking disappointed with TS3. TS3 = Fucking Overrated and people only say it's good because it's made by Pixar. Fuck Toy Story 3! Toy Story 1 and 2 ftw
Rango was no good, it has the same exact plot as many other childrens movies. Just with different characters and a different setting. But essentially just the same movie as others like "Over the Hedge".
I didn't think Rango was anything special. I liked the references to older films and the animation quality was pretty fantastic, but I don't see myself watching it a 2nd time. My point is that people put Toy Story 3 on a pedestal.

Yes, the toys do sleep with their eyes open. Their sleep state is the state you see them in when they're being played with, which Word of God states was happening to Buzz when he was being played with in the first movie. I still love the movie, and pretty much all of the points that you didn't come out and say "some people might not consider this valid" were valid. But the biggest question I have now is: what movies DO you like?

I don't hate you because you disliked Toy Story 3 and are proud to say it, but i feel bad that you missed out on a movie that connected with millions of people on an emotional level because you were busy nitpicking the animation for not being mechanically correct. People don't watch animated movies to see if the physics measure up to reality. They go to see themselves in the characters. @jbulletc I feel bad that you missed out on a well written review that connected with hundreds of people on a hillarious level because you were busy nitpicky to find flaws with the small points he made after saying that his main point was that it's a rehash of toy story 2 and was ripe with plot convieniences. I enjoy films where I see myself in the characters as well. Unfortunately, Toy Story 3 wasn't one of them. Like I said in my review, I could care less about the physics. My main point is that it's an over-rated, cash-grabbing rehash. When a film thinks I'm too stupid to notice such a blatant recycling, I feel stupid watching it. I mean, what other than subjective emotional attachment to the characters does this film have? I thought that was my point.

people project themselves onto the characters of animated movies because the characters are otherwise empty. Pixar has the easiest job in the world. They make empty characters with boring, plot serving, one dimensional personalities and people say "I can relate to this character" because its easy to project yourself onto a blank canvas. If you think the characters are enough to carry this film then you fit into the target demographic of idiots and children.
@sheamurph If the blank canvas theory were true, then audiences, critics and myself wouldve loved Cars 2, but it turned out to be shit. People found toy story 3 to be impressively darker and more sentimental than most children movies. It was a melancholy meditation on loss throughout for almost everyone that saw it. Millions of people felt it was deserving of praise for doing it better then a live action movie could. But im not trying to start a flame war which is why I said to each his own.

I agree with a lot of the flaws you point out. I always thought it was the weakest of the 3, but never spent the time to figure out why. I just watched "Monster's Inc." with my little cousin today and realized that the last 20 minutes of that has over-conflict, and so does the last 20 minutes of Up! It makes the movies entertaining and exciting, yet cheap and poorly written in a lot of ways. Disney should stop calling all the shots. HTTYD is wayyy better than TS3.

Like Pixar hurt me this year with cars 2 and shook my faith in them but people simply complaining becuase they like to go agienst trends annoys the shit out of me. You wernt to bad and I didnt dislike this video becuase you did make some good points, but you were also a little harsh with Pixar I don't love every single film becuase it's Pixar you could stamp Pixar on shrek 4 and I'd still hate it. I don't hate you because you disliked Toy Story 3 and are proud to say it, but i feel bad that you missed out on a movie that connected with millions of people on an emotional level because you were busy nitpicking the animation for not being mechanically correct. People don't watch animated movies to see if the physics measure up to reality. They go to see themselves in the characters. Many people feel that Toy Story 3 did that better than any other movie that year. Well to each his own.

@jbulletc I feel bad that you missed out on a well written review that connected with hundreds of people on a hillarious level because you were busy nitpicky to find flaws with the small points he made after saying that his main point was that it's a rehash of toy story 2 and was ripe with plot convieniences. So you're saying that defying the laws of physics is ok as long as there is emotion behind the plot, and by behind the plot I mean contingent on the first two. also, see 12:36.

I enjoy films where I see myself in the characters as well. Unfortunately, Toy Story 3 wasn't one of them. Like I said in my review, I could care less about the physics. My main point is that it's an over-rated, cash-grabbing rehash. When a film thinks I'm too stupid to notice such a blatant recycling, I feel stupid watching it. I mean, what other than subjective emotional attachment to the characters does this film have? I thought that was my point.

people project themselves onto the characters of animated movies because the characters are otherwise empty. Pixar has the easiest job in the world. They make empty characters with boring, plot serving, one dimensional personalities and people say "I can relate to this character" because its easy to project yourself onto a blank canvas. If you think the characters are enough to carry this film then you fit into the target demographic of idiots and children.

@sheamurph If the blank canvas theory were true, then audiences, critics and myself wouldve loved Cars 2, but it turned out to be shit. People found toy story 3 to be impressively darker and more sentimental than most children movies. It was a melancholy meditation on loss throughout for almost everyone that saw it. Millions of people felt it was deserving of praise for doing it better then a live action movie could. But im not trying to start a flame war which is why I said to each his own.

@jbulletc critics love pixar movies because they're condescending assholes. they think that any movie that tries to be deeper than its target audience must be art. the fact that it is animated and intended for children is the only reason anyone ever mentions how dark it is. i'm sure you could name dozens of darker and more melancholic movies that came out last year, but this one will get singled out because it targets 10 year olds. targeting children is not an excuse for making a shit film.

@sheamurph The targeted demographic didnt lower the standard for darkness in toy story 3. Nobody went to see toy story 3 for that in the first place. It was praised for how impacting and emotional it was for grown people outside the young viewer demographic. hence, it was praised by adult critics. shitloads of people were touched and impressed. If you weren't impressed or touched by it then fine. You dont have to. to each his own.

In fact, I'm GLAD someone has an objective opinion about this movie! A good argument can challenge your opinion and make you think of why you like something. This guy did make some valid points.
As for Pixar being not perfect... well, Cars 2 certainly proved that further than Cars. 30 on Rotten Tomatoes.

Yeah a bunch of these are just nitpicks...some things have to be done unrealistically for a movie to work.
But, that being said... I agree toy story 3 is OVERRATED. I still think its a good movie, its just not a perfect movie imo.
Barbie and Ken were focused on WAY too much and the jokes were much for forced than the first 2. Also, am I the only one that that actually wanted to see lotso have a good ending? Im like...there doing this again? Really? Give him a good ending. He went through allot.

I agree with a lot of the flaws you point out. I always thought it was the weakest of the 3, but never spent the time to figure out why. I just watched "Monster's Inc." with my little cousin today and realized that the last 20 minutes of that has over-conflict, and so does the last 20 minutes of Up! It makes the movies entertaining and exciting, yet cheap and poorly written in a lot of ways. Disney should stop calling all the shots. HTTYD is wayyy better than TS3.
