Nice recipe. I don't like chunky tomatoes in marinara sauces or pasta, so I blend my can of tomatoes. Otherwise I do my recipe exactly like yours and the flavor is great.

Why would you add the basil so early? That will make it turn black and bitter. You should wait until the end to add fresh basil. Well not everyone can be a great chef!
@FriszOne Wow, there's no need for you to be so incredibly rude. I don't see you uploading cooking videos, so perhaps your jealousy has caused you to be bitter. She thanked you for watching her channel, and said it wasn't bitter (since she would know, being the one who ate it, and not you.) Unclench, seriously, it's not that serious. Just because you're miserable doesn't mean everyone else is. If you were such a "great chef" yourself, you'd have videos on here, but you don't. Fall back.
@FriszOne My criticism to you: stop being a know-it-all asshole to other people on their videos. Learn how to criticise constructively. Hope you have enjoyed all these negative comments from others.
@FriszOne you are an absolute arse, if you wanted to make constructive criticism then how about trying not to be such a rude douchebag and it might go down better. great video anyway, thank you!
Get real. She's done a great job. That's not constructive criticism. That's an outright diss. I should know the difference, since I live on constructive criticism.
huh wow, adding the fresh basil before the tomatoes like that? Never actually thought of that...is doing that better than just throwing it in at the very end? Everyone always tells me that any fresh herbs I should throw in at the end but I never researched why.
Thanks for the idea and any information you can give! I will try this method :D
@Radjehuty I always add fresh herbs like this and always end up with wonderful results. That is not to say that adding the basil at the end is not also a great idea. I will do that sometimes as well. This recipe will render you a delicious sauce. I promise! Have a great week!
@pastryparrot1 hey i just have a question.... should i quit the process of ading the water on the tomatoe can if im ussing it for cheese sticks? thanx! love ur vids <3
@shacks29 Tomato sauce is usually referred to pure and simple tomatoes. Marinara sauce entails a combination of olive oil, garlic, basil and tomato sauce amongst other things. Thanks for coming by!
@shacks29 Originally, Marinara was tomato sauce with anchovies. Today, Tomato sauce is just oil, tomato puree and basil. Marinara is a Tomato based sauce with oil, garlic, onions, salt and pepper and really could be a variety of things. I personally add white wine, carrots and bay leaves.
@rebeccarosewriter Absolutely! Used fresh tomatoes if you prefer. I have many recipes of this sort with fresh tomatoes. This particular day canned is what we had. Thank you very much for coming by!
@jtso6123 It would seem that way because of the 'marine' in it. However, I make it like this. Napolitana sauce includes carrots and celery. Thanks for coming by!
@Sadness1335 If you would like to add more olive oil in it go ahead! What ever makes you happy. I make it like this and find it does not need any extra oil. Thank you very much for coming by!
Good video, but there is no point in adding basil early in any recipe. The flavour is complealy killed by long cooking. Added when fine chopped just as the heat is turnned off to finish is the best way to get the flavour from the herb.
Really good vid. This is pretty much how I make quick marinara, only I add fresh basil (if I use it) at the end. If using dried basil and/or "italian seasoning" it can go in any time. I also ad a bit of balsamic vinegar because I dig it... and sometimes sausage/burger/leftover pork ribs/whatever for additional flavor. But your basic recipe is way cool. You can make it about as quickly as opening a can of sugary prego. BLEAH! :D
cover with seran wrap tightly. when you reheat stir first then replace sauce in a pot on the stove on low heat stir occasionaly so it wont burn or loose flavor.
or reheat on high power stop the microwave 3 times to stir
Excellent! I love basic recipes that teach you what's needed in a certain dish -- then you can be creative and add your own veggies and meat and stuff =]

@pastryparrot1 true. Plus, Marinarra Sauce is just a variation of sauce that you can make out of Tomato Sauce, kinda like a Bechamel to an Alfredo

When re-heating pasta try adding a little water and salt (to taste) before heating. The frig tends to mellow out flavors and dehydrate foods.
