  • Even though you sold your soul, (sell out), I still enjoy your videos.

  • ahahah i thought this video was about the router you use for connecting to the internet my bad

  • 1:04 - 1:09 Thumbs up if you knew that was a clever lie.

  • can you do a chain using one piece of wood ( without breaking and gluing) ? ? :D

  • @KazimsChannel It can be done but requires a LOT of actual whittling and is VERY time intensive. Also, it's a great way to kill time and just relax if you enjoy "whittling away the hours" on a summer afternoon.

  • I noticed he had a Porter Cable Router!

  • making wooden chains is very nice, and i believe that your way of making them is very nice.

other thing i liked even more, is your polite and very fair-play way to give a honor to P&C for sending you that nice router. keep up with nice ideas, and just continue to be human woodworker ;-). yours audience is human, too,(at least i hope we are human)

  • @crabs73 not all are human, some can be real donkeys. (i'd spell another four legged equestrian relation, but my son is learning to spell and is watching the video too)(

  • Try using 2p-10 for your glueing. Much much much quicker

  • And here I was looking for some magic, then you break the links and glue them back together lol. Cheater!! Good vids. Love them.

  • i thought you will not cut the ring to 2 pieces and wait until the last second. any way , very fine work.

  • Very cool thanks.

  • Pretty funny posting here. Not sure why I'd want to make a wooden chain, other than to use my PORTER CABLE power tools. About as useful as wooden piston rings.

  • thought he was going to make a chain out of one piece of wood, lol. doing it this way seems much easier :)

  • i didnt understand how to make the chain.. all i know is.. PORTER CABLE :O

  • i love how you just put porter cable signs every where ;)

  • Porter Cable = SHIT.

  • @stevinmartin great videos , i found your 'advertising' or 'product placement' of the product name quite funny lol

  • Cover the top of the PC router and see how long it takes for the fan blades to be spit out. Trashed my PORTER CABLE replacing the fan. They DIDN'T send me a new one.

  • I really liked this, and enjoyed seeing the sense of humor you have showed up in this, in such a fun way. You were right, it wasn't in the way, but still very obvious, and even the little 'P & C' on your nails was a cute addition. I never have had any interest in making a chain, but the technique you use with the jigs is REALLY helpful with the ideas of what you are doing. I did something similar about 15 years ago, when I knew so little about woodworking anyway. Would have been better your way.

  • 中國古代玉匠'可以用一整塊玉石'雕琢出連環玉串'完全不用黏膠~~那才真是巧奪天工呢!

  • wow you just made a chain out of wood. that's awesome!

  • So what company sent you that router again???

  • Nice video and thanks for sharing, might just have to make a few links myself now, what product placement?...lol...love their tools!

  • Nice job. I wish PB would send me a free router.

  • that's a really sharp knife

  • one thing you didnt mention that might escape some people is that you dont need to break each link. in the 5 piece chain only links 2 and 4 would need to be broken to make the chain lol. probably obvious but might save someone a few minutes. Use for it.. Unusual curtain tie backs maybe? thanks for a great video as ever

  • That product placement was hilarious.

  • I think that 3 people who watched this video prefer Ryobi.

    ;-)

  • @Bear5177 no way, Ryobi should just close up shop

  • What was the company called? Poter, Peter, something like that?

  • What is with the P on your four finger? Oh and chain up the Wife with your new chain=]

  • @TRYER25 He's trying to advertise Porter Cable a bit ;) hehe, inventive (he also has a C on his other hand)

  • Make it full length and wear it around your neck like Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

  • Wow...I got about 3 minutes into this vid and thought...'what are you making again...?'. Cool project.

  • I love how you screw up and fix the screw ups on the spot. Makes your videos (and you) seem much more human. Way to go.

  • @muaddubby Haha...I'm not good enough to do things right the first time.

  • @stevinmarin Then you're just like the rest of us :)

  • @stevinmarin That may be true, but us mere mortals can relate to you.

  • I made your "chain ", and i found it VERY useful and safer, to cut off all the corners with the band saw, before routing the outside. Thanks for a very interesting but utterly useless project. I have had several " how did you do that" comments. I just tell em, I can tell you, but then I have to shoot you. :-) Oh by the way, I used a Skil router, I hope that was ok :-) BTW, I do have a Porter Cable 7518, but it is a bit heavy and bulky for this small project

  • lmao product placement on his hand! XD

  • how come you dont do many videos with your woodlathe ? its my favourite tool, loving the videos aswell :D

  • a hangin bird house from a tree using that chain would be awsome. or maybe a chain to hold a hanging light or maybe a wooded chandelier. just a few ideas?

  • ROFL! I really need that laugh.

  • nice

  • I like "CHARGER" decal on the background =)

  • So now let's take it to the next step".

I always was fascinated w/ the old guys at Scout camp when I was a kid who carve a series of links out of ONE piece of wood w/ a scout knife.

Now I'm that old guy and I'd want to do something similar using one of my 3 P/C routers and homemade jigs to rough out horz and vert links interconnected out of 1 stick, and use a knife to cut out the waste wood between the links and finish.

(i.e.) No splitting every other link and re-gluing.

  • I think that you must really like your new tool to put so much effort into thanking Porter Cable.

  • LOVE THE VID!! GREAT JOB

  • Thank you, Porter Cable, for giving Steve a new router!

  • Classic!!!

  • Haha hilarious! ;)

  • That was fun to watch :),

Man, you should get your own TV show !

  • GREAT VIDEO VERY SUBTLE ON THE PRODUCT PLACEMENT

  • omg..that's hilarious! XD

  • shower of fecks should have giving you two of them what's gonging to happen if that one brakes for feck sake

  • Who sent you a new router? LOL

  • Amazon is having a sale, $20 off orders over $100 on most Porter Cable products until Nov 30, 2011.

  • cool links what kind of router was that?

  • Thanks, Steve. I really like the way the base comes completely off the router. I need a new one...I'm going to give the PC a look.

  • hey you got the job done (paying PC back) and kept it classy!

  • the only porter cable product I have is my drill press. I did have a porter cable router but it died and I have twelve other routers to take it's place. (I used to have a thing about routers) now I have a thing about the lathe....but ther is not room in my shop for twelve of them so I guess I will have to do with one. Do you know anyone who wants to buy twelve routers? ,,,,Just kidding....as always ....really cool project.

  • As always I enjoy your Videos!

  • Oh next time you missed the music cue on this one. Fleetwood mac "The Chain!!

  • BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO!!!!!!!!!! I so loved it,Porter cable didn't send me anything I have a whole shop chocked full of Porter Cable due to great product placement like from Norm. Now lets see if we can get Delta to send you a cabinet saw!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see the "product placement" on that one!!!!

  • what was the topic of the video again? I only remember Porter Cable

  • Humm...Porter Cable - Model 1001 - Router Fixed Base - Jackson TN - MADE IN MEXICO - I'm sure that helps the US economy -

  • Steve, you're a genius! XD

  • That was freaking hilarious!!!

  • I've never heard of Porter Cable. For some reason I feel the need to look more seriously at their routers.

    Good video BTW...

  • I am disapointed you split the links... I carved a 10 link chain with a ball in a box on one end out of one piece and thought you were going to show a chain without splitting links to join it together.

After having sais this I did find it interesting... Thank you

  • Oh I get it your Pimping Chevrolet Silverado as a product placement? :)

  • Build the chain without snapping the links in your next video

  • That is great for Porter Cable to send you the new router.

I guess I missed the product placement....where was it?

  • person who carries objects.....two or more wires running side by side and bonded, twisted or braided together to form a single assembly.....a device that forwards data packets between computer networks. How's that for hidden product placement !?

  • Good video, Steve. Such subtle product placement...what was the name of that tool company again? ;-) If you work on it all year you'll have some good long chains for next Halloween. Either that or you could use the chains as a home decor element somewhere...or you could lock up that router from...uh...what's their name again?

    Larry

  • Absolutely shameless product placement that was awsome as well as the chain ...!

  • For once, I disagree, I don't care what a jig looks like, as long as it works, it could look like it was chewed by my dog (witch has happened), or dropped off a tall building. As long as the finished product looks good, and it was fairly fast, the jig did its job.

  • you is nice

  • What brand was that router you were using....?

Great stuff Steve. Dont stop I wait for every Friday night to smile at your mere majic.

  • Disliker prefers craftsman...

  • ....hey.. "Porther Cable" my routher is also broken =S "crying"

  • Seriously, you can use that wooden chain to hang a lightweight ceiling lamp :)

  • RIP Pat Spielman

  • boy, YOU are a real TOOL! I mean that in a good way...good job!

  • how to made an wood dagger handele 30 cm blade with curve.

  • Who made your router? I didn't quite catch the name.

  • @harussell Octavio did in Mexico, see 4:40. Sorry Porter Cable but you, like many others, failed us all when you kept that American price on your products whilst sending our jobs across our borders.

  • @harussell Porter Cable

  • @nordemoniac Btw, love the logo on your hand!

  • man for some reason i feel like buying a porter cable tool. strange...

  • I know what I would do with that chain. I'm always trying to think of different shapes of wood to cut for my pet parrot toys....those links would make a perfect size for my parrots to turn to sawdust.

  • Great job and I'm glad they sent ya a new router :)

  • I kept thinking of the Wayne's World scene on product placement throughout this video haha. Great video as always.

I think you should make a completed chain to drape around your neck as woodworker bling. Could be a good costume for next Halloween, or if you want to produce another woodworking rap video.

  • Nice job lol Thank You

  • Now all they need to do is fire their ad company. Clearly they trust you to make a better video. Terrific! Next on celebrity apprentice...Steve from WWFMM;-)

  • i dont no why but after watching this vid i want to buy a porter cable router

  • I thought you said PORTER inch MDF.

  • were was the "product placement" i couldnt see it... but nice porter+cable router.

  • I think I need to buy a router, and for some reason I need to buy a Porter Cable router...

  • love it!!!!

  • I've got a small Porter Cable router. It's nice and light and fits places my Bosch plunge router won't go when I work on stuff in place.

  • I'm thinking if you were to get that star logo as a tat on your hand, that they might throw in a router table too.

  • If you had a Formica trimming bit, your "mistake" wouldn't have necessarily have been a mistake. The bearing is on the bottom of the bit. Although I imagine the link wouldn't have been high enough in that case.

  • Very Subtle product placement

  • Steve learned product placement from the James Bond movies. They were pretty good at it. Right Steve? ;-)

  • Viewed this video a few times, I must of missed it somehow... what was that company that gave you the router again? They sound like nice people.

  • Yeah! One question; Who sells that router you got there?

  • im not sure why, but I have the sudden urge to go to my local hardware store and buy a Porter Cable router...interesting...

  • Now I want a Porter Cable router even though I don't have space for it!!

  • I have never in my life been excited about PRODUCT PLACEMENT .....

Who would've thought product placing could be fun ....seriously do it again,,,,

  • So are you dressing up as Ghost of Christmas Past this year?

  • Dude, what make is your router??

  • Steve, What brand of router were you using?

  • Hahahaha ^^ placement win!

  • Anyone know what company sent him a new router? I'm sure they make very good routers but I can't figure out what company it is!

  • You should make a wooden lock with wooden key to go with your wooden chain

  • I can't stop thinking about Porter Cable, idk why....

  • That product placement is about as inconspicuous as an explosion :P

  • Porter Cable owns the router world.......

  • Very nice

  • Best product placement ever :)

  • Lol.... You are crazy :) (And porter cable will become your sponser now ;) )

  • hahahahahah i like the almost unseen reminders of porter cable. well done :)

  • WOOT
