Bands like Cannibal Corpse, Death, Obituary, and Morbid Angel, are Death Metal. Compare their sound with that of Marduk, Darkthrone, Burzum, and Gorgoroth. They're completley different. If you can't tell them apart, then you shouldn't even think about telling anyone what genre anything is.

Septicflesh arent even a black metal band. Communion and The Great Mass are both symphonic death metal albums. Fair enough the odd guitar riff might resemble black metal but thats about as far as it goes. Absolutely nothing like Dimmu or Cradle.

actually im pretty sure septic have been around longer forgotton paths demo i believe it was titled in 1990 or 91 when did dimmu form? 93 perhaps not sure but there is NO comparison in my opinion septic flesh was and probably is the founder of atmospheric death metal, found ophidian wheel at 13 and nearly 15 years later they are still one of my favrite bands they didnt play live much back then but should have gained more recognition the other year they opend up for cof?! next time sf headlines!

Dimmu is nice but it's sounds like a black version of a soundtrack of any epic hollywood blockbuster. And Septicflesh is diffefferent, they'v got their unique sound and style. I've been to their concert once and it's pure darkness and perfection, it makes me shiver
