I work for Sodexo (5 years) and I don't get this at all. Every full time worker where I work earns paid vacation and sick time, and has access to a 401k and insurance benefits. (My insurance costs me $17/wk, half what my old BC/BS plan used to cost and is MUCH better.) Employees get a free meal every day whether they work or not, student workers receive book reimbursement, etc. Compare Sodexo to any other service employer and they're generally the best across the board.

A dish washer, cashier or other generally unskilled / entry level worker will probably not ever earn a significant income- It's unrealistic to expect ANY company that's in business to make money to pay people more than their labor is economically worth. If I can hire someone off the street and train them in a day to do the job of someone who's been doing it for 10 years, explain to me the motivation to pay a high wage to what is still ultimately a relatively unskilled position?

The bottom line is the unions are there to make money PERIOD, that is their main motive, no different than the company. Next time you are around the union ask how much the president makes per year, then ask the shop steward what they get in return, what favors.

over one third of a million companies worldwide. I have plenty of facts but I am not going to have a debate over youtube comments. I'm not sure what the union's motive, but believe me I took that into consideration. I am a Sodexo employee myself and they gave an anti union presentation that was full of lies that anyone with a brain could see through whether you knew about the union or not. that right there shows they have something to hide or lose.

I watched SWU get increases for their workers that were behind the passed minimum wage laws in Illinois and then take dues from employees checks. The employees got NOTHING and paid dues for 5-years. During that time the union stopped not one (albeit deserved) written warning or termination.

Such an action versus such a large company is a feat in itself. There's no way you can go after every company at once. Why would you NOT start with a specific one?

2%, that's interesting because unions don't work in percentages that would be too equitable. They take (and I mean take) their dues right from the employee's checks. They make nothing out of nothing and prey on weak minded people to get in and reap their dues. All in environments that protect the employees already. Heck, the federal laws do a better job of protecting employees than unions.
