omars TOO good to ever become mainstream.... volta, atdi, omar/cedric fans; are some of the luckiest musical fans in the world we dont ever have to worry about sellouts
@myMTVpicks i feel more like he's the frank zappa of our generation. zappa was a genius composer and virtuoso guitarist, who released albums ridiculously frequently, and to play in his band you at to be amazing at your instrument. sounds just like omar hey?
I saw omar playing goliath live in corona music fest inside foro solo and let me tell you after you heard the guitar vs sax live you can die without problem
This song sounds like Porcupine Tree's "Ambulance Chasing" if anything. I mean the guitar tone is so similar. The riff at the begining sounds kind of similar too. Both are great songs. Check that song out.
One of the sickest songs ever made right here!!! To Kadoushe - I hope you aren't saying that after listening to this you tube version, cause the studio version sounds perfect. This version is mono so you dont get any of the stereo field placement which is where all of his guitars are placed. I'm not saying you are wrong or anything of the sort just that this is a bad representation of the song. But this definately goes up there to me with old classic instrumentals like Maggot Brain
Amazing music!! but even better, great message!! Rothschilds, Bilderberg group. Don't forget the message everyone...each one teach one...these forces cannot continue...spread the word.
ohhhh!!
@98ShinO well man, i saw omar playing goliath live in corona music fest in foro solo and let me tell you after you heard the guitar vs sax live you can die without problem
Did anyone foresee this album on the horizon? Megaritual sitting around for all the years? Releasing these two albums in the same year is uncanny. Did Omar plan on releasing them both at once? Or was it contract horse sh-t holding everything up?
the album bedlam is cursed. its cursed like blood mountain and obzen and donuts. cursed to be the best fucking music man has ever made, since the 70s when we first started figuring this shit all out. can i get a shout out to hendrix, king crimson and cynic.
@CrystalTrees5mcs.... Fuck yea you can, crimson all the way, you can hear it, and then you know. my boys TOOL as well.. Fripp opened so many doors for guitarists, as well as hendrix. but.... Omar is an FN genius. so much feeling..you hit that nail on its big fat head my friend..cheers.
@CrystalTrees5mcs if you just made a mastodon, meshuggah, and then a J DILLA refrence. then made a shout out to hendrix king crimson and cynic, YOU HAVE THE GREATEST TASTE IN MUSIC EVER!<3
@CrystalTrees5mcs wow the 1st time i saw shout out to Cynic..i saw them live like last year..they are an amazing band..and i saw the mars volta with soundgarden a few days ago..and u know what? i still havent found my head
@CrystalTrees5mcs it was a bastard..but i didnt know of any other concerts coming around besides LA rising which to me only had one GREAT band of course Rage Against the Machine..
wow just what i was thinking ive never heard this and when i did for the first time i automarically thought about pink floyd and santana, and i clicked on the more info tab and yes he was influenced by both. anyway im HOOKED NOW!
Its amazing the incredible work ethic he possesses, hes way past a point in his career where his music has just completely metamorphisized into his whole life, i personally dont think he just sits down and these records just bust themselves out i really think he applies his genius and really WORKS out all these songs into what they are..and what there are are master pices
the piper your so naive, how does gilmore of all people have a distinctive style, that's ironic cause i thought lopez has one of the most distinctive and most unique guitar styles i've heard
That's fucking stupid. Saying if someone doesn't like a certain era or something like that they are a poser fan or whatever stupid bullshit you claim...that's just ignorant. I love the Mars Volta, but I dislike Bedlam in Goliath. At least, as much as I can dislike a TMV album. That doesn't make me any less of a fan - just a different kind of fan. Stop being a lemming, cease your ignorance. Grow the fuck up.
When inthebann002 said "anything after meddle", he was talking about the era of Pink Floyd following Meddle. And all in all, what you said is incredibly ignorant.
man everybody is going to hate me for what im about to say...but though i love the mars volta and have followed their carrer for almost ten years now, i have to agree with you...i disliked Bedlam in Goliath, but well i respect the fact that they are trying to change their sound, i just prefer strongly their Tremulant-Amputechture era.
I love how everyone gave me thumbs down for speaking the truth. You see, this is why people hate TMV fans like myself, because four or five fucktards decide to act like they're starring roles in Fatal Attraction 2 - Cedric OMG. It's just fucking bullshit. Gets really annoying.
i think they are going from strength to strength personally. whats a progressive rock band without progression? nothing is what. its cool to prefer stuff tho. its only nature. never means something is shit or bad tho. i'm a huge king crimson fan but i dont like much of the stuff they did when they reformed in the 80s- now. prefer the old orginal stuff (first 4/5 albums). i dont think its shit tho. i just prefer the sound of before!
well atleast you explained yourself and didn't say "Fuck this band they sold out i hate them" i can respect that, when you get into volta as deep as i am it's hard to find a way out no matter how much it changes, it's like quick sand
hey that's interesting, way you are probably right, they do have certain similarities, what i mean with "the difference between these two eras" is just the fact that other albums had like a lot of space between each instrument, and they created "spacy atmospheres", ive heard Omar wanted to creat a feeling of "claustrophobia" with Bedlam...and thats what i do like about this new sound, he is not selling out or anything, he just does what he wants, wether i like it or not xD hahaha

I think is more likely cacophony. That albums is sometimes just plain unlistenable. I like it, but I find very hard to hear it all the way through. It's just too much noise. Maybe that's what Omar wanted, but it's unpleasant.
I find easier to hear a Meshuggah album than Goliath, for example. Or maybe it was just a terrible mixing.
And I quote: "I'm not going to help you make this record. You're trying to do something very bad with this record, you're trying to make me crazy and you're trying to make people crazy." Omar's sound engineer who had previously worked on 15 of Omar's records before his mental breakdown working on Bedlam.
kinda reminds me of the way the sound engineers treated the velvet underground. they refused to be present during the recording of their debut because according to them it was all just bollocks. 40 years later ,vu and nico is regarded a legendary record. so just because the sound engineers don't like it doesn't mean the album can't pwn like hell.
When I listened to bedlam my first impression was that it was cursed and that some person whether it be the entire band or cedric or omar were trying to spread it or tell on it. It's really bold and I don't even listen to it in the daytime now. I think it's very frightening subject material. Besides the sound and composition itself being insane.
I find it hard to listen to all the way through too because by the time I'm half way through my bed begins levitating and I start having lucid visions of a woman being murdered by a man with a long black beard. Anybody else?
Do you ever get that feeling, when you listen to a new song or an old song, it doesn't matter, the tingling goosebumps that run from the bottom of your back up, to out your arms, and you just cringe a bit in a good way, almost wanting to cry out of such happiness that this melody could be the one to soothe you at that moment in time.
