I know what ya'll mean. The closest one (john deere dealer) to me is a hour away. It used to be owned by Metrac and they were excellent about getting and stocking parts. I could have parts overnight delivered to my house. Now Flint has bought them out and parts are taking a while to get.
I know you like cat, but before you buy please test a John Deere 650 first just to compare. They seem to push stronger and have more power. I have an older '98 650G LPG that would out do a newer D5G XL I rented. The rental only had 500 hrs on it and the JD I own has 2800 hrs. on it. Wouldn't hurt just to see.
@looseknot706 without a doubt deere builds better dozers but the problem for me is parts, there's no dealers close to me, they have to order everything and it takes normally 3+days to get parts and when something gets 15 years old the parts become hard to get, but when they're new they're alot better dozer
