  • Cara, ele é demais, um dos papas do soul, na altura do Sam Cooke e do Otis Redding, seria muito bom poder ver um show desse cara!

  • since he's the maker of the song credit goes to him, but amii does a far better job at singing it

  • Love his music. As an aside...would anybody be able to put Eddie Floyd's version of It's Not Unusual on You Tube. I would be eternally grateful if somebody could. x

  • timeless

  • Fantastic music. Performed by fantastic musician. In spite of any set backs he may have. Unlike any of today Idol or Factors winners. This man truly loves music and it shows. I miss musicians like this. If there are any these days, unfortunately I have not seen, or more importantly, heard them.

  • @CyberOmega This still exist, you just have to dig deep. Sometimes not even too deep at all. The Black Keys are amazing and they won a grammy. Same with Arcade Fire and anything Jack White has ever done,

  • That looks like Emperor Rosko introducing it.

He was an American DJ working for Radio Luxembourg and the UK.

  • i love the horns!

  • Oh yeah he is wonderful...

  • yes don't tie me to a chair & beat me but i like Ami Stuarts ver better also.:/

  • Amii and Eddie rock both versions! Just a great song.

  • c'est chaud à jouer à la guitar ce truc!!!

  • fantastic - and (don't shoot me) but the disco cover was also very good.

  • Love it!

  • tink I bedda knawk awn wuuuuud!

  • @ImTheDaddy100 tnnnkkkk aigh bedah nawwwkkkh nnnnhh wooooaaaaddd

  • Gotta give it up for Booker T and the MGs too, love seeing a young Dunn and Cropper there.

  • I really love this song...there is even a disco version......this is hot

  • @motherlovesaman

Ammii Stewart made a disco version either late 70's or early 80's.

I remember because one Xmas my uncle told my cousin she looked like her.

  • @Micaroni715 And her Voice is the pure awesomness and matches so perfectly to the sweet beat

  • @Micaroni715 it was 1979 honey :-)

  • TRUE ARTIST!

  • mais qui c' est qui dit qu' il aime pas !! font chier les gens ... stro bien W.P

  • Great to hear Eddie sing a different version live on stage.

  • I DON'T WANT TO LOSE THIS GOOD THING...

  • Does anyone know whether a white man calling a black man "boy" carried the same tone of patronizing condescension in the UK as it did in the USA at that time? (I see that this was asked about a year ago by #tomlynch42, but no one seemed to know.) Thanks!

  • @marklackeydotnet Just noticed that, In Britain it does not have the same conotation as it did here in the US.

  • @bivmvideo Thank you! (And what a GREAT song, eh?)

  • @marklackeydotnet , No. (because the UK people were of different type of pink veal than US white people.) This allowed them to say things without fear of retribution unlike American white people at the time.

  • Echame un casquete polar!!!

ke me subido el cambio climático del cuerpo!!!

  • 1:22 AMAZING!

  • I have been trying to find out what that main riff was from for ages now! So happy to have finally found it, and a great song!!

  • Formidabile!!

  • Great story: When Eddie and this band (Booker T and the MG's) were writing this, they got stuck at a certain section of the song and didn't know what to do. Al Jackson, the drummer, said "Well this song is called Knock On Wood, right?" The rest of the guys nodded. Al then said "well, how about this" and went Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! on his snare drum. Problem solved.

  • The Markeys ARE Booker T and the MG's, but with added brass section. (Except for the original recording of Last Night, which was not by Booker T Jones.).

  • ......

  • Is that Booker T & The MG's Backing Eddie? Well it HAS to be!!!! ;)

  • No! It's the Mar-Keys. On the "Stax-Volt Tour of London- 1967".

They shared the bill with Otis Redding.

  • Oh that's right! It's because I saw two familiar faces with the MG's. Duck Dunn and Steve Cropper. Close though, same label! :)

  • I think it's the Bar-Kays

  • @REELANDSHAFT no it is realy the MG's take a look 2:03

  • that was such a poor introduction...

  • Clear soul!

  • How old is that African American?

  • Soul man!! (2)

  • I had the great pleasure of meeting Eddie Floyd a couple of years ago when he toured Australia with The Bamboos. He is a true gentleman and STILL a super-funky soul brother.

  • eddie floyd with the bamboos ? sick !

  • Soul man!!

  • That is Soul!

  • @TheKounterkulture soulfunk to be precise what otis redding really made big

  • i have seen eddie floyd a few days ago in Club Ostia (near Rome), where he was singing in front of 30 people, me and maybe 50 sitting people.

im sad, because some people dont show any respect and blind him with a laser. im also sad, because only a few (<100) people came.

  • omg that's so sad:(.

    No ONE deserves that treatment.

    Laser in the eye... why?

  • no one, yes, but blinding an old man who's bringing some GOOD music to a youth camp where you're forced to hear techno all day, is sooo retarded.

  • bastards

  • at 0:22 its funny good song!

  • pure soul, stax was great

  • Compared to this; today's soul bands are playing and singing clean and 'politically correct'!

    God bless you Eddie!

  • Is this the song from the Chase picks up the tab commercial?

  • yes it is, i have been looking for this for the longest time

  • What a blessing to listen to the great

    Eddie Floyd.

  • not totally sure you need to play the race card for everything lads

  • The original , The one and only , The great Eddie Floyd !!!

  • Im wit ya there lynchy

  • The "boy"?! Hey, lad, how about "the Man", Eddie Floyd? @#$%!!! farking Nigel! Oh,well, it must have been a reflection of the times, right?

  • ..i don't think so...maybe but Great Britain and England had abolished slavery and had non segregated areas wayyy before us...but it also might have been habit from him....it could be all those things i don't know

  • at 0:05 he says clearly "the man"

  • but he says 'the man' as well though at 5 seconds in. Id say its just cus eddie was young here, you alternate between being called boy and man-there wasnt any disrespect meant by it

  • @anna315 Yeah-I played it back a couple of times...I don't think he meant anything by it. I agree that it was probably because Eddie was young...

  • uuuuuuuuuuuhhh yeeeeeaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • Great music Thanks for sharing!

  • dbcrowns..you are kidding. no covers of any of the stax/volt artists ever transcended the originals.i was fortunate to see this performed live when eddie floyd first recorded it. no comparision....stax artist rule. anyone covering them is priveledged to have that material to sing.

  • One of The Stax/Atlantic very best acts,.ktf.

  • classic soul

  • Memphis Soul Baby!

  • isn't this just sublime ....listen to this you people who pump that tedius PAP at every traffic light....

  • I think it would be quite cool if someone approached the stoplight with this crankin' at 5000 watts.

  • i even see them ;-)

  • Must be the Stax boys! I hear Cropper and Duck Dunn!

  • GOOD LIVE! Is that the stax boys playin' backup on this one?

  • RESPECT, enjoy this song, yeah thanks for uploading!!!

  • かっこいいよエディ!!カラーとはこれまた貴重な。
