Apparently Erin Daniels wanted a huge increase in salary and Ilene Chaiken would not be held to ransom, I think Jennifer Beals earns a huge proportion of the allocated payroll and Erin's demands were unreasonable so Ilene called her bluff and showed her the door! These things usually boil down to money unfortunately.
You evil person :P L Word died with Dana's demise, it was a real stupid choice for the creators to bump her off. They ruined the show! Season 4 looks pathetic with all the crap new additions.

I wouldn't say the show was ruined... there are still some amazing actors- particularly Leisha and Jennifer, Erin demanded a huge payrise and that was her downfall - good ol' fashioned greed. Hopefully she's learnt her lesson.
It wasn't because she demanded a payrise. The writers talked about what would happen to Dana and then they developed this storyline. They chose Dana because they just wanted to show that even if you're a really healthy person, you can get sick.
If you had seen the extras that came with the dvd of the fourth season, you would have the right information. But whatever, don't wanna wine about a non-existing person, although I really think it's sad she died.
When I first heard them sinnging my heart broke (kidding, kind of...) but actually it's just a song my mom used to sing it for me when I was smal(ler)
I was told that it is a very popular (American?) childrens classic and I had heared it before it was featured on The L Word, but I just thought of the Dana/Alice scene of season 3 (don't want to spoil the experience for anyone here who has not seen it - so I'm not telling what exactly happens in that scene ; ) - watch season 3, everyone!) the second it was shown on TV and had to share it with you guys : )!
