I work for Starborn Industries which is the company that produces the Smart-Bit. The SB was designed so that the countersink would last thousands of drills into Ipe and even more drills into a softwood like pine. I have worked for Starborn for 3 years in which time I have not heard one claim against the SB. Please contact me so we can discuss this and figure out what is causing the issue.

Did you try it with MDF or Hardboard

I have been using this bit on Ipe hardwood decking. Works very well. I recommend the Smart Bit. Last a long while.
