hey man nice video. I have a few questions hopefully you could answer them. Does the camera have auto focus so for example your recording something and you bring the product close to the camera will it focus on the product or do you have to do it manually like moving the lens. Also From your point of view what do you think about the video quality because most camera's out there record up to 1080p and this one only records in 720p which is a bummer. Let me know. thanks

I think Canon would be smart to do a mirrorless APS-C to compete with the Sony's - they already have a bunch of great EF & EF-S lenses they could use. I'm probably going to get a C3 as it's only $499 now with the 16mm kit lens so that's at "enthusiast point-and-shoot" prices but with a sensor 9 times bigger!

Did you forget to mention the touch screen ability of the E-P3 ? If I'm not wrong, normally, you can touch the screen to set a target and do magnifications on this point. It's quite usefull. In olds olympus (like the one I have) you must use the arrows bouttons, and it's a little slow to set a precise point . Also I must admit, it's a great review ;)

hi, i bought the c3 (im from germany) i like the imagequality very much. its sad that it has no fullhd video mode. Is there a lens for the c3 for potraits (nice bokeh etc.) that you can recommend?

@katographics depends on your budget, but that Voigtlander Kai used in the video would be a VERY GREAT portrait lens. If you want auto-focus you will unfortunately be stuck with the Sony lenses. In that case, they are all very meh since their aperture is so high. The 16mm is f/2.8, but it's VERY wide and awful for portraits

@06cdancer Film camera? A manual 35mm is great for learning and nowadays they run for low prices. You can get a NIkon F80 for under $80. I'm your age and decided to go this way.

The UK is one of the big markets for film cameras. Many labs. Cons are they you pay your mistakes and you need a scanner for digitalizing.

Then there's entry level DSLR. Look for older generations, refurbished or even second hand. Mirrorless have similar or higher prices than these.

@06cdancer I'd first look to anyone you know who is upgrading his gear, a local photographer or friend, for example. You would know the person and how he used the camera.

eBay would be the other option, or Classifields.

Unless you shoot sports, IMO you don't need many fps. It's more important to shoot once and well, don't spray and pray. As of MPx, most of them have more than 10. But I believe 6 is more than enough for most uses.

@06cdancer Nowadays all entry level DSLRs come with their kit zooms. They are fine for general use.

However I'd recommend you to get your hands on a normal prime (35mm in APS, 50mm FF). Fixed focals can squeeze more creativity and are better for lower light situations (f2 and up), and sharper than average kit zooms. You might be able to get a manual lens cheap.

I forgot to say I'm your same age. I started out with film with a manual SLR, though.

Thanks! Actually, the NEX is the best for manual focus, the "peak" is just amazing. If you find the C3 too small, go and get a NEX-3.

Or just use a Summicron-M 2/50. That changes the balance. That Voigtländer is huge!

If your are using the same lens the bokeh is the same for the same aperture... it's just a matter of how narrow the view is. In fact bokeh circles seem bigger in a camera with a smaller sensor as it is magnifying the view when viewing the pictures with the same size.... Of course you can crop the image on a bigger sensor and obtain the same results (discarding noise and image processing/resolution)
