i was on my steep driveway once (in my ford contour sport) im 14 and im not great at manual, i did a 10 foot burnout all the way up, it was unexpected for a 140hp car
I hate when people get RIGHT BEHIND you at a stop up a hill... The other day a cop on a motor cycle drove up RIGHT on my bumper. I had to squeal the tire a little on my Celica to get up without knockin him on his ass. Haha.
@narlycharley dude, the same thing happened to me. and the cop gave me a ticket, which is total bullshit, so i took it to court and lost. the judge said if your going to be driving stick shift, you need to practice first.
@speacialperson12345 Nah...I was just bustin his balls. The owner of the car was on the beach with us, laughing at him too. The kid driving volunteered to go get more beers, thats all.
Poor guy! That sucks. All of us stick shifters have been through this so it's somewhat funny to watch from the more experienced end of the spectrum haha.
When it comes to manual cars, Americans suck. Just about everyone in America I've talked to doesn't know anything but auto and I find that really sad and shocking. Come to Europe where most people use manual and learn to drive properly.
Well I can and just bout all of my friends and the people I know can. And saying "Americans suck when it comes to manual cars" would be implying every American. And im not going to go to Europe where I have to a separate license to drive a manual
The first comment was partly tongue in cheek but from my experience (admittedly not a lot) automatics are much more common in America. Secondly we don't need a separate license for manuals, just one. If you have a manual license you can drive both types of gear systems, if you only have an automatic license then you can only drive autos. Fair system I say. You only need to watch this video to see why.
why the hell are u driving a wrx if u cant even make it up a SLIGHT embankment? and dont the 08+ wrx's come with HILL ASSIST. going up should be CAKE. wow/. dont deserve to drive it.
haha - i am double-clutching and he cant even drive away :)

At a hill stop the car, apply handbrake, start as you normally would and when the car seems to want to move, pull down the handbrake. That's so easy.

you know what is a hill assist? The brakes or the e brakes.. use it.

@TheZoelzer2 That's so stupid! The most experienced driver is constantly learning on a hill.

Its to bad you havent talked to everyone in America..

No, but I have talked to a lot of Americans from all walks of life and virtually all of them drive automatics. What's your point?

Fair enough. But you still need to have a license to drive manuals and autos, or you just have a license to drive autos only.
