  • 1:56 "Unt Bob Marley is Good, I decided" The announcer had good taste in music

  • At 1:36 the pilot sit in what seems to be a Demoiselle, the first light aircraft created by the Alberto Santos Dumont, the father´s aviation.

  • Again, swastikas on the left panel of the tail and the official national flag colours on the right side on all aircrafts. That's funny. Btw. the Curtiss Hawk was an excellent sports plane.

  • this is very informative great footage unbelievable. How did they get a curtiss wright aeoroplane ?The flying was insane wow.

  • sure looked like a curtiss wright goshawk

  • When Hitler had taken power, Udet got a very important office in the administration of the Luftwaffe. However, he disagreed with the Nazi ideas and was brought to commit suicide. Nevertheless, the Nazis gave him a state funeral due to his enormous popularity.

  • Have you read the novel "The Knight, Death and the Devil" by Ella Leffland? Udet has some good scenes in that book and the suicide scene is pretty powerful.

  • Udet invented the dive attack, and invented the Stuka Ju87, inspired by the Curtiss Hawk´s diving abilities. It was Udet´s idea to design an airplane that could drop a bomb right on spot. According to his ideas, Junkers developed the Stuka. Udet was an absolute daredevil, keen on testing any prototype of plane, including the risk of crashing. After one crash, when he was in hospital, his only care was whether his first visitor would bring him a bottle of Cognac. He was also a womanizer.

  • Great footage of Herr Udet in the Curtiss Hawk II. The aerial photography in this film is very good, too! I wonder who did the photography?

  • According to IMDB:

    Cinematography by

    Hans Schneeberger

    Heinz von Jaworsky

    Franz Weihmayr

  • he was one of the few ww1 flying aces that survived the war.

  • hmm looks more like a wright more so than a taube, the taube had a canvas covered fuselage.

  • I bet 'ole Ernst would've liked to have that "Curtiss sport doppeldecker" back in '18.

  • My father knew Udet when he was a Fokker rep touring the US, nice guy, loaned money to alot of broke pilots

  • Wow - and that just confirms my belief in the type of guy Udet was. Thanks for mentioning that!

  • nice, I am just reading autobiography written by Anthony Fokker - early aviation is an amazing time :-)
