  • Amazing! I had exactly the same experience as mcgranc

  • It isn't often that you hear something that nails you to the wall. Heard this on Radio 3 - Private Passions yesterday and became very emotional listening to it. Never heard the lady before so I'll track some of her material down. This song speaks for many who left the country of their birth and can't fit back in even if they wanted to.

  • seems like yesterday the last time we met i was with my nephew at my grans in methil ,he was still in his nappys but he turned 13 yesterday

  • Lovely!

  • She sang this song on Prairie Home Companion once, backed by Greg Brown, Kate MacKenzie, Peter Ostroushko, and the PHC band. I saw it live (in Iowa City, 1990 -- the 4th Annual Farewell Show, when he was doing his show in NY) and it was amazing. Her voice is lovely on its own, but the background vocals really made it special. Thanks for the reminder.

  • Jean Redpath at her finest. One of Scotlands finest.

  • She's an amazing talent, and I feel blessed to be able to hear her sing. Thank you for posting this.

  • She has an amazing voice. I love her version of John of Dreams. Maybe you could post that one too?

  • Jean is the real deal!! I have heard her sing some things that will stick with me until i die. A real national treasure of the Scots. Thank you Jean!!!!

  • This is beautiful, too.
