This is one of my favourite vids of River. It's really deep. Unlike some other people I don't think the begining is disrespectful, it emphasises on the tragedy of his loss and also empowers the life force that he had. It makes you appriciate the rest of the video more. Anyway River was amazing, and your vids are awesome. Make more River ones. :) xx

If your going to show something so shocking like this make sure its based on fact !! coz the first scene certainly isnt.

For all of us who truly love River, we are aware of the circumstances surrounding his death. The opening scene was brilliant creative license lending dramatic effect. I cried for hours on the sidewalk outside of the Viper Room shortly after River passed. Rest in peace River.
The first scene was HORRIBLE. I am not 100 percent positive, but I don't think he died that way... blood all over him. Perhaps when they opened up his chest and inserted the pacemaker, but not initally. By the way, WHO is the actor playing him in the beginning? Thanks.
They did say in the discription that teh first scene wasnt in connection. It was an artistic decision that person took and i thought it was done to great effect. (Im talking as an outsider to this whole River thing. im just a fan of boy george. If I was wanting to be a bitch-which trust me Im good at-why incorpirate a song about a homosexual excentric who died of AIDS in 1996 with this film but Im not i thought it was a good artistic peice)

this really isnt river phoenix in the video when he passed away he was still filming ''DARK BLOOD'' and he had a dark buzz cut not his long hair. the actors name is jasper bel. so this really isnt river phoenix its just a documentary.
what we want to hold onto is the memory of how he lived his life and the effect he had on many people not his tragic untimely death at least not in the way u have chosen to portray it.
Then watch another one of my videos on him. Please. People tend to take to those ones quite fondly, finding them to be more fitting tributes to his memory.

It's just artistic tragedy, I suppose. Also, obviously River is not the first, nor the last, person to die of a drug overdose, and this scene is for everyone who that has ever happened to. It's a tribute to everyone. Maybe some people find it a hard tribute to swallow, but I think that's what it is.
Excessive bleeding from the nose is common when someone has OD'd from snorting cocaine or heroine, but as far as I know, what happened with River was simply that his heart stopped--the scene was not quite so gory. It does make for a compelling clip, however.
No, that is not him, and no, it's not actually what happened to him, as far as I know. It's a clip from the documentary "American Fame pt. 1: Drowning River Phoenix", and the director used a few actors that looked like River, but hardly ever actually shows him (until the end, with some blown up pictures pasted about).
Well that's a lot of blood..
