i saw her live in Austin. an audience member asked her to play Baby Jesus and she said she would for $5. After the song she held out her hand for the money and then carefully folded the bill and stuffed it in her bra. she play another song and then threw the $5 back out into the crowd. It was awesome.

regina spektor and fiona apple are like pollar opposites.. fiona's stuff is heavier and definately more sultry.... regina's is lighter and way more ambiguous.. fiona looks like she's suffering from an eating disorder..regina is full bodied and healthy looking.... fiona blond...regina brunette... fiona from a priviged american actor background/ grew up in manhattan.. regina from an immigrant background/ grew up in the bronx .... the only simularity maybe is that they are both piano players

I can honestly say that at first I didnt care for her voice, but its grown on me as I've listened to it more and more. She has an odd, but original vocal style ...kudos to her, however, for doing such an unusual style and making it somewhere in doing that. I think this country is long overdue for something fresh and different. Whats nice to see is she has a natural cuteness to her that keeps the public fascinated ..its not fake, its her personality.

She has quite a good voice actually. She is one of the few singers that doesn't use reverb on vocal tracks in her albums. Reverb covers the flaws of most singers, but Spektor sounds good w/o it.

Yes I am a composer. I write all styles of music in the western world and eastern world. I think that music is subjective. Many people will not like Regina's music...you'll see...she won't stick too long.
