the ratings during the 8th seasons were brutal, that's why they ended the show. It's too bad Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher had movies to do, and didn't renew their contracts with That 70s Show.
@Sisko182 Actually, quite the contrary. What actually happened is Topher Grace was offered a part in Spider Man 3 as Venom, and they were going to start shooting the movie right around the same time That 70's Show season 8 premiered. Ashton Kutcher himself was already a big star, so he was also trying to shoot movies while doing the show. They moved the characters away, (Eric and Kelso) for the entirety of season 8 so Topher and Ashton could go about their movies. The show wasn't dead, just
@DEUHDCEwh Yeah that's pretty much what I said, except I wasn't douchey about it. They both had movies to do, so they didn't renew their contracts. How is what you said any different from what I said?
@Sisko182 Actually what happened was Topher Grace was offered the spot "Venom" in Spider Man 3 right around the time when season 8 was just getting started. Ashton Kutcher was also starring in movies right around that time, so they moved away the two characters (Eric and Kelso) purposely so Topher and Ashton could go about shooting their movies. The new character Randy in season 8 was most likely not intended, but was in replacement of Eric. Fans lost interest because Eric and Kelso were gone.
@twilightshadow134 but you cant make a show like that go on forever, 8 years was still a long time and the writers were probably running out of things to write, and topher and ashton had already left
@twilightshadow134 it was inevitable that the show would end. It revolves around young adults moving into adulthood. By the time the show ended most of the actors except mila where on the wrong side of their 20s trying to play 20 year olds. They did a good 7 years and a bonus season that wasn't so good but still a good fan effort.
Not to mention Mila did quit the show in the 8th season but returned 3 weeks later. People were moving on and so were the ratings.
A 9th season would of been superb, they left the eighth season with such a cliff hanger i was outraged by the last moments of it just being them counting down the end of the decade. It really threw me off, never expected such a good director to end it like that...
actually its a good way to end the show, i mean, what else did you want ? Eric and donna are back together; the others have their own plans, it's the last day of the 70's, so for a show called "that 70s show" i would find no point for a new season starting in the 80's ...
Donna said that she was going to college soon, and Eric was probably going back to Africa.
Donna even said that she can't be in a long-distance relationship, and she said that things were alot different. So I'm sorry to pop your bubble but I personally don't believe that they got back together.

@twilightshadow134 it wasn't about the years,.they all had different plans....the main guys didn't want to do it.so it would be pointless.
