As well as testing for gas with an open flame... Do they check the electric ones by chucking water as it for a spark? "there was no spark so the wiring is safe" so odd to use a flame to test for gas, clearly people a safer way is to use gas leak spray (it bubbles up if a leak is present) or if you are cheap use undiluted washing up liquid
@atomicnortherner I guess they are wanting to be candidates for the Darwin Award. A condo complex where I once worked one guy that tried that on me after we did a tank swap out and I chewed his ass out royally. He went to the manager and she dragged me into the office where I chewed her out in the process as well regarding gas safety procedures. They didn't bother me again after after that over safety.
4:38 "They light a torch on the flame and pass it over the valve to check for little gas leaks. It didn't ignite, so there aren't any." Classic, testing for gas leaks with a match- gotta love it!!!
@dmiller531 Don't work for a water heater manufacturer. Just thought it would be fun to highlight this section of the narrator copy. How many times have we all been told to not test for gas leaks with a flame? Here the manufacturers do it as a matter of coarse!
@johneastmond I work for another manufacturer and testing for leaks with an open flame is how we do it. It can be very dangerous. Testing like this in a home could cause a fire and not recomended, If someone should smell gas they should contact a plumber or gas company.
Those welders are fascinating.

That's 10,000 amps, not 10,000 volts.

@douro20 I disagree. You don't need 10k amps to weld that. It would blow up.

@DennisOwnsMyBalls
Resistance welding equipment can generate that much current. Current is more important than voltage- the voltage itself is very low.

@DennisOwnsMyBalls Dude this is electric resistance welding, The 10k amps are easily reached in this kind of process....

@douro20 u know that is 10.000 amps? it is VOLTS..not amps..
