  • I have this camera and in movie mode you can hear over the video the focusing motor, makes a hell of a noise. The photos are OK for a novice camera but don't buy it for doing videos.

  • @Macinabit You could be hearing the focusing motor due to not flicking the switch to manual on the side before you start recording...taking the shake reduction off also helps drastically.

  • Cool video Test. I guess you were using a lens with an aperture ring, unless you were turning the wheel in the back of the camera. It is difficult to focus this camera while shooting video, especially outdoors in bright sunlight, as you have to rely on what you see in the LCD screen, only. I think the overall video quality is great, however. The mic and the shake reduction are problems for me, with all the noise. I'd like to record audio on a seperate device and mix in during post.

  • a watched pot DOES boil....

  • a watched pot DOES boil....

  • Boiling eggs.... very.. abstract..

  • how many minuted can this camera record? and how much of the sd card is used?

  • how did you change the exposure? I thought it only had auto exposure

  • is there a time limit to

    video recording with this camera?

or does it just depend on the memory

    card size?

  • ouch, the clack-clack noise that the exposure blades make really screws up the ambient audio.

  • D5000 is better

  • but only shoots a max of 5 minutes. a deal-breaker for me.

  • @canadianroot it depends of your memory! lol

  • @tkandme3 not at all

  • but it's a Nikon F mount, so i can only use Nikon lenses. Or telescopes. That's because the lens is way too distant from the film\sensor. Canon and Pentax do better at this, and there are many inexpensive manual lenses that are wonderful quality.

  • Hi,

how did you change the exposure while filming??? used the +/- button?? Sounds like you were turning the wheel... I am finding a way to change the EV manually but can't even I didnt lock the exposure.

And I guess you turned off the shake reduction function while filming too right?! Coz I didnt hear the noise from that function in your film.

    Thanks

  • MAJOR focusing problems. fuzzy, clear, fuzzy, clear. any reason why? good eggs, though.

  • there is no auto focus when taking videos with the k-x, its all manual

  • do you think video is able to be reliably shot in manual? is it something that the shooter needs to be constantly fiddling with during shooting, unless stationary?

  • this video is my first shot. i was checking manual focusing. then i realized that Kx's LCD is not enough to manual (at least, in this distance).

  • during video, yes. as i found out.....just bought it over xmas....great little performer. very happy with purchase.

  • @sashah666 k-x does too have auto focus, there is a switch to the right of the lens to switch from manny to auto. i am looking at it now. cheers :)

  • @sashah666 sorry i just realized you meant in video mode, you are right. my bad.

  • @sashah666

    wrong

  • Well sorry guys for the misunderstanding....I meant to say that the pentax does not have auto focus at all in the movie mode, other than that, yes it does for sure have auto-focus for stills.

  • @canadianroot Thats not the cameras fault, its how the person was using the manual focus.
