@ albinoburm, hey man nice snakes! i just recently got my normal burm, what do u think is the best in feeding her? i feed her guinea pig once a week, and sometimes small rabbits.. what do u prefer for a 4.4ft burm? thank you sir!
Is it safe to inbreed snakes, if it is only going to be the first generation inbreeding? How likely is that the hatchlings would have any sort of problems?
@ARSA525 Line breeding for a specific morph or trait once or twice generally does not have any ill affects. You do not , however, want to make it a continual practice. It can have an affect if generations of related animals are continually bred.
@SLE335 Thanks Susan, this "should" be a very prosperous year for breeding. All the rains here so far this winter have really got "all" my breeder females and males very frisky. Every breeder female I have here has locked up with a male at least once or twice, and many have locked up 5-10 times. At this point, when I put a male in with a female, I am almost guaranteed to see them locked up within hours, and sometimes less than that.
@foxcompaq Usually not. "Line Breeding", for a specific morph generally doesn't have any higher rate of defects than unrelated pairs. To be honest, many morphs out there are a result of "Line Breeding". It's not something you want to continually do as a rule of thumb, but initially to create a desired morph type there is usually no measurable downside affect. Even in the wild related snakes will breed. Line breeding is done even with the most well known and respected breeders out there
@albinoburm Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me.
It makes sense now thinking abut it how some morphs may have come about this way, then followed up by breeding with unrelated pairs to get the morph once again.
@HarshDig Thanks Casey, If she ends up gravid it will be interesting to see what comes out of her clutch, depending on which male will end up being the Sire!

This may be a stupid question . . but I'm a noob.
Do problems arise from breeding son with mother, like birth defects?
