@lokomilos1 I suggest 2 options for that ticking, the bad and the worst.

- The bad: No greasing enough of the lifters because the engine has been stopped for a long time, for example; this shouldn't be a critical failure, but the lifters are suffering an unnecessary fatigue.

- The worst: One of the 8 connecting rods is bent so, if this option is the truth, the countdown for that pretty V8 began on May the 4th of 2011.

I think the valve adjustment is off. To match play between the rocker arm and the valve. The rocker arm is hitting the valve, rather than pushing the valve down. So you get the ticking sound.

It's mechanical, it hasn't got an on board computer, that is the sound of engineering not science. If you listen to a ferrari you get a similar sound (but not quite as loud!)

if the oil level is low or dirty it can cause the lifter to malfunction which will allow excess valve train clearance creating engine tapping or clicking noise. In extreme cases or when your engine has run out or close to out it can cause one of the many bearing surfaces to fail causing permanent engine damage and noise until repairs have been made...... dude please fix it or its gonna be a waste of a good car!!!
