She plays Europe too which bodes well for her reaching so many more levels to come.
She truly stuns me out as well Sting and Crow and the Beatles have in the past. I just wish she'd relax and or find some record label who could find some supporting musicians who could handle her wave and tour with her.
She's so great by herself live, but imagine how mind blowing phenomenal her live gigs would be if she had the right entourage.
I wish somebody would post a clip of how the interview went after Dave's show came back from the commercials. Was Dave courteous to Jonatha at the end of his show timeframe? Does anyone know whether it was too awkward or not?
I'm betting Jonatha charmed and enraptured the live studio audience no end that afternoon.
Just one dude's guess, is all.
Anyone, maybe You should post the entire appearance if you were lucky enough to tape it.
Just gimme a hoot back. I will do my best to help.
@tiktoffG13 I think we can all rest assured that Dave was most respectful of Jonatha, tiktoffG13. What kind of joneses have you geeks got yourselves workin on there at MIT lately, there, bad boy?
Any chance you guys got any new wicked cosmic gizmos corporations can charge us out the ass for 3 years from now?
Does it not take a truely superior artist to wear a Starskey and Hutch tee on her network debut?
This kid - this job, appearance, whatever - has me - well - nothing short of spellbound. God help us if the industry relegates Jonatha to any kinda one hit wonder passoff.
This is pure gold. And so are at least five other songs I've heard so far from Jonatha.
Support this woman folks. She's coming up with solid stuff and it's coming naturally to her.
@codevictim She IS and HAS BEEN a star, if by that you mean a creatively rich talent. But she has not been, nor is ever likely to be, widely recognized as such. Yet she's quite well known along portions of each coast (at least) and those of us who have been fortunate enough somehow to learn of her existence, know how tremendous her debut was, called 'Plumb'. It came out following the dissolution of her partnership with Jennifer Kimball (The Story) in '95. This ain't her first rodeo.
This is great... she's just amazing, as usual... yet there's something about it that makes me feel she was holding back... it's like a ticking bomb... just powerful as Hell, but restrained...
Her duet with Neil Finn (Split Enz, Crowded House, Finn Brothers, solo artist) is amazing - "New Dress" - search it out here on You Tube, it's awesome.
I've only recently found out about her. I think she should be more well-known than she is- she's totally fabulous!! First time I've hearing this but I love it already! :)
excellent. So who do you have to do to get on Letterman? just kidding. go girl. I read about you in a recording magazine. Glad I got to see and hear you. GGGGGoooooo
jonatha is quite simply the finest recording artist in the world. i have produced and engineererd hundreds of records with great singers but shes the one.10/10
I just recently discover Jonatha through a friend. WOW...WHERE HAVE I BEEN...WHAT WAS I THINKING/LISTENING TO BEFORE??? Huge, monster-badass songwriting, singing, guitar. What a chick!!
My sister-in-law played us a Story CD years ago and we loved it. Later we heard some music in Kiki's Delivery Service and Peter Pan 2 soundtracks(kids cartoons) and watched all of the credits to see who it was...Jonatha Brooke. I hope to see her in Seattle soon.
Nice of the Defranco fan to chime in - but you seem a bit naive to make such a comment? Just ask Ani, or most any other modern songwriter for that matter, what they think of Jonatha Brooke. I'm guessing you will be very surprised to know she is greatly respected in the industry, and no "jonny" come lately, either.
Love this song! You all are really making me wish I could catch a live show!

vocally her and Ani DO have very similar voices. but really who cares? it doesn't undermine either's artistic integrity.

I can't believe Jonatha isn't more popular than she is. Ear candy music, good lyrics, and a phenomenal voice.

Thanks!

She's been around since about 1990. Started a band called "the story".

DiFranco? Hah! Jonatha has been doing this long before Ani did (no disrespect to Ani, who is brilliant).
