well it'll be hot, but only if they give it some killer apps that distinguish itself from the WM/Palm/S60/Danger etc. They need to go for the WM and iPhone audience combined, they need eye candy plus usefulness, with fullfeatured mp3 and other apps. At the moment, to the average user, it amounts up to a 'generic' wm smartphone edition or blackberry- thhey need push email clients and a java emulator.

No offense to the iphone, which I really like, but Android will be an awesome platform. When actual phone's hit the market with the Android platform, I am quite sure you'll see that they will be at least as good, and eventually better.

It's a prototype from Texas Instruments based on OMAP 3 chip.

Discard the ugly shell. Mobile phones are increasingly complex. Wiring up the hardware and making it get along with the OS are the first hurdles. Having in mind this - a great start.
