Thank goodness that diamond will finally be replaced with a flyover bridge as construction has already begun. As neat as diamonds are, they often create serious congestion problems, and that one is one of the worst in the nation for causing train delays actually.

Hey Frank, I have a little bit of information for you on that pushing power on that MOW train. Herzog 184 is a what many people call a "scab" which is basically a SW1000 with a shell on it. The shell offers additional controls that the unit would not normally offer, while the SW1000 offers the pushing or pulling power

I saw the same Herzog consist at CP502 a few times in June/July. I'm guessing they were doing some serious track work cuz traffic on the Chicago Line was a bust on Friday.

I heard that Englewood was not the safest place to be. Is that true or has it changed. How safe is it?

@strobx1 actually Englewood is THE WORST neighborhood in Chicago. It has the highest murder and violent crime rate in the city, not to mention all the crack and heroin problems. Three Chicago police officers were killed so far this year here. The junction though is above the streets and pretty close to I-94 so I've never had problems.
