Here is how Medical School should be. After students graduate they will work directly for the Government. No more balogny. Setting them free to causes corruption. Their charging too much causing damage to the economy. Graduates will be located to a Government Hospital. They will be paid by the Government.
Geographical correction – this video was shot in Boston, not Cambridge – the main campus of Harvard University is in Cambridge, but the Medical School campus is in Boston.
the medical profession is so crooked... the medical schools purposefully keep incoming numbers low so they can have a choke hold on higher salary. you ever wonder why a doctor who spends 10 minutes with a health 20-something for an annual body checked can get paid $5,000? it's so ridiculous. Doctors are mostly made up of the greediest people ever, even worse than lawyers, because at least lawyers have to fight for their share of the pie? Doctors just let their low acceptance rates do that.
@dalecampbl7 Unfortunately, you're absolutely right. Unlike a few decades ago, a doctor nowadays is just another employee, working either for gov or privately. So, he/she MUST follow the capitalism principles of charging what they "consider" fair for their service. Unfortunately, this problem is not only due to doctors, but due to the insurance companies and health care systems (mainly in the US) policies, together with the high lawsuit rates in the US.Sadly, Mexico is following the same path...
they are all guilty...i think even without "insurance" doctors would charge a lot because they can due to low supply and everyone being afraid...but I agree insurance just makes it worse and not better. I don't hate the idea of insurance, but insurance with highly paid middle men, was not in the plans of those who originally came up with the idea of insurance, that I can guarantee you.
@borismex@dalecampb this is due to the structure of capitalism. A physician or surgeon just as any job in a capitalist system must work for money, the sad thing is that a lot of people choose medicine for the income, this is due to the GREED Capitalism causes. If you look at countries such as Venezuela and Cuba where there is free education and health care due to socialism/communism there are a lot of doctors and ALOT and are made up of those who love helping others, not those who are there 4 $
You´re totally right, that´s why i love the socialized health system of my country :)
I feel kind of sorry for the US citizens, because it´s baffling the fact that "the MOST powerful country in the world" do not supply free medical care and it´s outrageous that more than 20 thousand die per year just because they don´t have insurance in the US.
I think i could not be a MD in that type of health system (at least for insurance companies)
@speakerdark94 Well... Public Health System in Mexico is not that good actually, mainly because, among many other cons, the system gives an enormous workload to Interns, Graduates in community service, Residents, and even working and paid doctors. This leads to heavy shifts, fatigue, sleep deprivation, stress, anxiety and even depression, resulting in bad (or not so good) healthcare services, in exchange for -almost- nothing to the student/doctor.
@borismex I don`t discuss that, actually i`m agree with your argument, we don`t have the perfect system and it`s getting worse with the new program " seguro popular" because it doesn`t cover almost any expensive illness/diseases and it is just taking money out of IMSS and they boast that it is free, but it`s not totally! Despite all problems socialized medical care systems in the wolrd could have, i prefer to have an option to choose (socialized or private) and not one to be imposed.
i have always wanted to join Harvard Med. society in my career. I am very much impressed with their students. But as now, i'm a graduate, i can't have any dream to do my undergraduate years there, probably my PhD or post-doc fellowships later. i would like to see how smart they are there and what makes everything for them to do in Harvard way.
@jfer17 How expensive is it to study there(tuitions)? Do you know if there are any scholarships for Mexican or Latin American Undergraduates? Im currently attending last year at University of Guanajuato, here in Mexico.
@borismex It really depends on what you want to do, If you want to attend a graduate program (PhD degree, the one I am) you have a stipend if are admitted . If you want to get accepted in the MD program it can be expensive, but I've heard that Harvard has many different fellowships, however I do not know them. I advice you to look in advance.
@triyodotrionina You're talking about studying for your Ph.D here so I assume you're at least in college? If so, and you're grades/records are not immaculate, you have a VERY slim chance of being admitted.
@triyodotrionina Hehe, I do think it should be kinda difficult to get in. Actually Im a med student in Mexico, at the University of Guanajuato in Leon. Visiting the place in person should be your very first step!
well first the school cos $300,000 cause my brother goes there and next thing its more about health, forensic, physics and ovcours sport but unfortunatly the preppy sport wernt a big thing there like rugby and other sports that gets u more physicly stronger.... well thats wt i have heard from my brother
it has, among other things, tons of research... and good research. a harvard researcher reverted a fully differentiated adult stem cell into an embryonic stem cell... which is basically god like.
@3xDecker Wow! I didnt know that would be even feasible! Do you have any link to that article? And, perhaps, a NEJM user and pass? hehe, i dont have one...
I want to go to harvard, for learning about forensics. Im already in all gifted classes, and I might actually make it... I hope.... Well, im only in 7th grade, I got some time :D
