This balloon is now based in Ireland and the plan is to see how much work will get Sonic back in the air, hopefully for the 2012 Special Shape Balloon Fiesta in Trim, Co. Meath at Easter 2012. He will shortly be undergoing a full medical checkup :-)

@IrishHopper Thats really good news. I never saw sonic when he was on the uk circuit in the 90's Apparently he came to the royal welsh show im told, but I was too young to remember. Glad to see another shape having life put into it again :) Thanks for the info.

The balloon (or one exactly the same as it) was in Ireland just two months ago.

Anyway, Llangollen gets all the iconic children's celebs; last time I was in Llangollen, Thomas the Tank Engine and co were there!

this reminds me of back in 1992 (upon the release of Sonic The Hedgehog 2), when i randomly sighted an awesome Sonic The Hedgehog 2 advertisement blimp, flying across the horizon. it was just 'normal' blimp form, but with a massive image of Sonic leaning on a big red '2' giving a thumb up, and Tails peering behind the '2'...
