God, they seem to have cut loads of this out, I bet its from the DVD version, note to anyone thinking of buying this series, try and get hold of the original VHS copies, they haven't been butchered by the BBC!
I now have the original VHS copies and you are right - they have cut loads out. They even cut the ending to the last British Information Board film where the narrator reveals himself. The film always seemed unfinished on the DVD version - I don;t know why they had to cut the scenes
No idea offhand. But he did a lot of voiceovers, and any actor who isn't pulling in millions for each appearance (i.e. most of them) has to stay in work. So he may well have done. Sorry I couldn't prove it either way though.
@slacknhash 'Twas the late, great Patrick Allen, who voiced the now infamous Protect and Survive Public Information Films back in the '80's (Which thankfully never needed to air). If God has a voice, his is it.
I wonder if many people remember the British Information Board film with the violent frying pan attack! Vic and Bob were never as violent again until Bang Bang It's Reeves and Mortimer where Bob put Vic's head into a washing machine!
I think the frying pan scene in this episode inspired Vic and Bob to regularly use frying pans in the next series.
I love watching this show and seeing how it influenced more recent comedy... the dead serious, posh-voiced commentator at the beginning of each episode really reminds me of Tom Baker's work on Little Britain :D
That's a good point, I suppose John Cleese's announcer in Monty Python is similar too. I'll have to look up Peter Sellers now, sadly unfamiliar with his work :/

I never thought of that! Sounds (and the idea is) very similar.

Posh narrators saying silly things is sort of a British comedic trope. Look back to Peter Sellers in the 1950's goon show era.
But I see what you mean.
