  • wow I'll be 40 in a few months and she looks older than me lol If one knows how to properly wear makeup shimmer is just fine. If you have saggy skin and bad skin from excessing tanning, no shimmer. Me..I can wear it. Tip...don't wear blush on the apple of the cheek please. When you smile your cheeks go up and when you stop your cheeks fall, making u look older. Bad video Imo

  • makeup is too dark compared to neck...not good video

  • Women in their forties are so sexy. The woman talking is so hot. I would love to give her a good hard seeing to.

  • This is very much like ALL of my cosmetic training way back in the early 80's! So outdated. This style of condescending tuition puts so many women off. Please, women who are over 40 are generally very savvy and know what they like. A bit of an update for their look is always good and most of us do like to experiment and defy any make-up rules. The entire presentation made me cringe. And the music??? Although maybe this was done in a shopping mall, which may explain a few things.

  • She looked younger before she put that crap on her face, women of ANY age can use shimmer eyeshadow, and her makeup looked CAKED on.. This video was just awful.. absolutely awful..

  • the model looks a lot like lisa eldridge

  • this is SO old fashioned

  • i usually dont give bad opinions, but in this occasion i have to say : THIS IS AWFUL .

    sorry and i apologize =(

  • how can i hide a sagging neckline ?

  • the model looks really unconfortable :S

  • she said don't use pink if you're pink toned, this model is totally pink toned.

  • this is a terrible tutorial, blue does NOT suit everyone, concealer just 'fills' the 'lines' therefore, at the end of the day/evening, it's like a mud creek. and PINK???? r u serious???

  • You made her look older than she already did

  • Does anyone know what kind of brush (and where it can be bought) that is shown @1:47?

  • Blue doesn't suit ALL eye colors.

  • the make up is fine but the difference in colour between her neck and face is horrendous, definately would not use this lady as my make up artist. x

  • Sorry, but did she knows anything about make up, especially for older women? YOU DOING IT WRONG LADY!

  • what a beautiful lady (the model); looks so lovely, so huggable. :)

  • No shimmer over 25 oh please!! You've lost all creditability with me!

  • GAAAAHHHHH!!! This "makeup artist" is horrific!!

  • love the tips! im gonna try this out! thanks

  • The blush looks pretty garish. I'd do without it, or only apply on the bone and not on the apple of the cheek.

  • This one is a great tribute to Asian working women! you can see it if you search Turn Around Bright Eyes garnier

  • I think this is a beautiful, natural look for everyday. I just hope I look as lovely in 10 years! :)

  • The model looks dang good for 47. The makeup artist reminds me of so many other makeup artists and hairdressers ... if you didn't know they did it for a living you would never believe it! Not their best advertisers :( ox

  • look at make up artist, she also has orange face and white neck...

  • Too much neutral on her..Im no make up pro but a 12 year old would know to give her a little pop! even if she wants to stay in the neutral family she needed a little color especially round the eyes n lips

  • She needed something to make all that neutral pop

  • Oh my gosh, this was awful. She looked worse! The face and neck didn't match and the makeup app was awful. She looked older and harsher. What a joke.

  • i have a round face and i'm 50 help me from here

  • No foundation primer? No eyelid primer?

  • I can see alot more wrinkles in her face now. Why?

  • @Jasca1000 cause its a bad job thats why.

  • thiz lookz fugley

  • U made her look like she is ready for her funeral. U r not perparing the body

  • Orange mask foundation, boring uneven makeup.... Qtip applicators? You just scared women over 40 - not ok.

  • In my opinion, I find nothing wrong with women over 40 wearing shimmery colored eyeshadow and lipcolor, any woman in any age should wear shimmery or matte colored makeup. Being limited in color because of age is boring.

  • wow you dont have the slightest clue what your doing.

  • This is hilarious.. She has NOT got a clue.

The difference between her neck and face is unreal. She uses the shitty applicators that comes with cheap eye shadows. She also decides to stay bullshit like "Blue suits all eye colours".

She wouldn't think of using a gel instead of hairspray no? :L

The shit about not using shimmer of 25 is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

  • You are extremely pretty, thank you for the video tutorial. it can be depressing i live in Stillwater for the reason that i can't purchase excellent cosmetics, however, i receive cost-free samples of make-up from "GratisMakeupSamples". i adore Max factor cosmetics!

  • You happen to be unbelievably gorgeous, thanks a lot for the video clip. it is actually sad im living in Snellville mainly because i aren't able to find great make-up, however, i get totally free samples through "GratismakeupSamples". i really like MAC cosmetics!

  • OMG!!! the woman just TALKS ALL THE VIDEO!!!!! soooo annoying!!!!!

  • brilliant pointers! thank you, anybody used Max factor's newest range of products?? it is not easy to get hold of makeup in Whitehall yet you can recieve some amazing cosmetics samples through "Gratis-Makeup-Samples"! there ace!

  • I think your model looked great afterward. Natural without abunch of junk on her. So many women go way over the top and just make their wrinkles and shadows even worse. Very nice...and everyday.

  • I just saw a bunch of tutorial videos for 120 pallettes by Coastal Scences (sp?) and others - these women were at least 48 and one was 63: heavy, loud, bold color usage but in such a brave and confident way that they looked like goddesses when they were finished. I am sad to think that at age 56 I have to limit myself to the dull quiet neutrals all the time. I am not going to either. Color is splendid. Thank you.

  • At the end of this make up tutorial, she definitely looked slightly better but you made a mistake by saying blue suits all eye colours. Surprisingly it actually doesn't suit blue eye colours. It drains the blue out of your iris, not literally. You would of been better with a peachy eye liner, or if you wanted a bit of colour, pink would've been acceptable. It was still very useful though. x

  • She looks gaunt--she looked better before. Too much powder on her cheeks, and her foundation is too orange.

  • too much makeup just makes her look like an old lady..she would be prettier with just a bit of foundation and some mascara.

  • i like the hair of the make up artist ...so lovely

  • tOO MUCH SHiMMER ON OLDER LADiES MAKES THEM LOOK OLDER....

  • all depends on how you do it... I am 41 and do use shimmer and I look dazzling... true I have never looked my age, no one ever guesses it but come on to make sure a statement that ladies over 25 should should not put on shimmer!!! I will make sure to let my 25 almost 26 year old daughter to make sure her and her friends stop doing it!!! ... I am sure they will love hearing this one, and take it as seriously as I do... I will keep watching for make up ladies who nicely do an older face

  • nice

but why do you use too much blush

and why not putting shimmer for wemen over 25??

it doesn't make sense to me

  • What is she using for Foundation to apply it?? Cotton pad? What's that LOL

  • i do not wear much makeup and i am 46,what kind of drugstore makeup can you use and still look nice

  • i agree i did'nt like the make-up, especially the foundation it was too dark for her skin tone.

  • She ends up looking like she is wearing a mask. This lovely lady just needs to stop worrying and enjoy her beauty.

  • This woman drives me crazy!!! She spend all her time REpeating everything says in all of her video's, so when it comes to for application they cut passed it to the next time she's talking!! I want to watch you do it, not just hear you do it. AGRIVATING!!!!

  • NO Shimmer if you're over 25--Why the heck not??

  • @Aunteegranny It depends on if you have wrinkles. Wrinkles look worse when they glow. If you're pretty smooth, then go for it.

  • @Aunteegranny it ages you! makes your wrickles more noticeable! but id say no shimmer after about 30-35 depending on the skin!

  • @Aunteegranny because the shimmer from the eye shadow will make winkles more obvious. It's like putting a spotlight on your wrinkles because the light will bounce off and reflect on the wrinkles, causing more shadows to appear. Not only would you be able to see the wrinkles more obviously, you'll see wrinkles you didn't think you have. Unless you don't have much wrinkles around your eye area, it's suggested to avoid those shimmery eye shadows.

  • @Aunteegranny beyonce bends that rule everyday so HAHA LADY

  • @Aunteegranny IMHO I wouldn't say no shimmer...but limit the amount so it doesn't highlight lines and make them look worse. I am 40 and not a fan of shimmer. I love matte eyeshadows in neutral earthy tones...compliments any age and just looks healthy and well rested.

  • @Aunteegranny I agree, I wear shimmer all the time, its how you wear it!

  • im 49 and never wore much makeup and never been good about my skin care. I have tons of wrinkles and look older then my years. i like learning and am now trying to care for my face. I however think this is more makeup then I would wear. its nice job though.

  • ....wow...my mom is 49 and looks MAYBE in her 30's but most ppl think late 20's...

  • and being in your 40's isn't old..thanks.

  • Nice to know I am doing everything right!

Ardell Lash and Brow will help with sparse lashes! I agree that the foundation seems a bit dark

  • Fine and well but, the color difference between your neck and the models neck is so much lighter than both of your faces....it looks circus like

  • I think Allisons videos are great-thanks for posting

  • This is a good basic video, but I'm 44 and have been doing my makeup since I was 14. After 30 years, this kind of bores me. This would be great on a makeover show, like "What Not to Wear". On You Tube, it's almost identical to the beginner videos for the young teens, but more limiting (ie. "no shimmer on the eyes"-how boring!). I find the self-imposed limits kind of depressing. It's great if it helps someone, tho'.

  • applying foundation upwards is not better, you have to apply it by following your face hair. applying it downwards will not sag your face!

  • I think her foundation is a bit too dark for her skin. You should blend the foundation in around the neckline which would make the complete head and face look more natural.

Foundation should be patted or brushed on and not swiped on. It should always be applied upwards so it doesn't pull the skin down.

No shimmer on the eyes as this makes the wrinkles more prounounced. The blue eyeliner is ok but a grey would have been nicer.

  • This is a very nice look for the 'over forty crowd'! Could you please provide the make and colour of the shadows used?

    Thanks!!

  • wooooooooow
