  • Lucinda is one of the finest singer/songwriters of her generation.

  • Was tuned in that night. Wonder why Lucy hasn't been using Dougie P. much anymore.

  • This is pretty cool.

  • With Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner on bass. Go figure.

  • Lead guitar player needs to let his dream of stadium rock die- ruined it for me... Share a little there...

Don't need all the FX for good country. Rehearse your breaks and turnarounds a little more... Don't have to be the same every time, but need a little more polish.

  • Met Lucinda three times she is very good to her fans Lucinda We Love You.

  • Whether or not you appreciate Lucinda Williams is sort of a musical IQ test. How did everybody do?

  • @RoadCoder as of the ides of march 7 people were are at about a 20 level

  • great talent....should have a guitar in her hands.....that's how she do!

  • its a relove.reaally love the matchless repeat rif repaet riff reapeet rhiff repete riff

  • that looks like jeff tweedy on on the black guitar

  • @Zorbitron yeah its all part of the i don't give a fuc i'm a prima donna gonna crunch you right between my twang band thang goo

  • @Zorbitron Well i bet you have a huge collection of all the great american singers, like britney, christina, beyomce, and all the other garbage that gets shoved down people throats as art? Its laughable. I can pretty much guarentee you that most lucinda Williams fans have a much larger library of good music that you can't even rap that little brain of yours around! Its called depth!

  • I would risk the diseases to spend a night with her.

  • I met her after a concert in Cleveland years ago....she may not drink, but honey she's taking something! She was higher than I was, for godsakes

  • She's surly "multi-faceted"... lol..., that's for sure! A gem of a talent!!!!

  • @plasticworlds

bs. i seen her drink... but who's asking...

  • i think i will pass one this one.pretty lucky if you ask me but who asking..like the guitar work though..i think the vocal could have been on the more creative side of the scales if you ask me..but who's asking...

a little too much guitar and not enough good vocals..sounds like the local bands in dallas texas...

  • A high school science teacher from Winnemucca once said that Lucinda Williams is the sexiest woman in the world. I had to agree. Lucinda continues to fascinate even after all these years. That science teacher is a very close second though.

  • Man, what a kick ass band. Two great guitarists.

  • Lucinda WILLIAMS is amazing !!

  • The Moronic replies here are profoundly woeful... the "better if's" who want to change the music to their taste, the "I'm artistic's" whose comments are just a guise to try and gain attention for themselves with music/artist trivia no one cares about, the "worshipers" who want to build Golden Cow monuments.... What a freak show parade.. I just came to relax and listen to some good music. If I were a shrink I'd be trolling here for new business! :)

  • @StandardMeasurement wow someone who gets it. it would have taken me years to say that..thanx....don't feed the guppies ..they'll die eventually

  • @StandardMeasurement What the hell is your intellectual mind trying to say, idiot? When you are bored try to find a better form of entertainment if you are so smart. Let us dummies enjoy ourselves without our insignifacant follies,

  • I thought "West" was a better album than this one, although I know I'm in the minority.

  • I agree. She wrote better when she had a gun in her mouth.

  • Can't wait t hear the Ray Davies and Lucinda collaboration!

  • you are an idiot

  • no, you are.

  • Doug Pettibone is a guitar hero, just saying.

  • Not since Lucinda Dickey has a Lucinda made me so hot.

  • you gotta love lucinda, but that descending riff on 'real love' is a kissing cousin to one on a jackson browne tune. not saying, just saying (as they used to say)

  • @banjowv Good ear. The riff at 0.42 and repeated later is very close to the main riff in Jackson Browne's "Boulevard."

  • man, i've seen her live 3 times and she was drunk off her ass 2 of em. she seems a bit shnockered here too. not to say i don't enjoy her drunken performances as well.

  • @jus2jam I just gotta say....my husband plays kik azz drums and every time someone watches a video of him playing, they think he is drunk! He doesn't drink alcohol! So unless you've seen her drinking, I would venture to say that she just pours her heart into it! In a way it is like being drunk! Confused? GOOD maybe you're DRUNK!?!?

  • @bytoriasnowdoggy ha! of course i saw her drinking...she was drinking on stage! that's cool about your sweet-drumming, non-drinking husband, but Lucinda is definitely a fan of the booze. yo, i'm not knocking her, and i'm sure not drunk, just saying it's hard to tell how much of that performance is alcohol induced. relax lady, i'm as much a fan of that angel voiced, guitar goddess as anybody...

  • @jus2jam

she doesn't drink i've known her for a long time. she likes to give that impression though

  • The ultimate rocker girl! Great song writer and edgy voice! Love her!!!!

  • raitt vs williams? feh. i can have both.

    KEvron

  • Mberry We are talking about two totally different kind of artists. Lucinda Williams is a SONGWRITER with a kick ass voice . Bonnie Raitt, is a Guitarist with a great voice but rarely writes her own stuff. When you have to write, sing , perform your own stuff it's gotta come from way deep within the artist... us "rabid" LW fans? She gives us a bit more of herself and her talent.

  • shes lookin great and soundin fab

  • i swear that "Little Honey" always has a solid group to support her already amazing voice. glad you posted this because i didnt know she appeared on letterman...thanx...it was a great performance

  • she too ya know 90's music

  • OK, now you people are getting personal and hurting my feelings and crippling my self esteem, sniff sniff.

sorry folks, I didnt know Lucinda had a such a rabid following... but remember, I didnt tell YOU not to like her.... to each his own said the farmer as he kissed the cow's ass. Lucinda cant be loved by all, even Jesus had enemies. Its all gonna be OK.... even in a world gone mad where Lucinda's "genius" isnt recognized by everyone. give me Bonnie Raitt anyday. love, Monk

  • @Monkberry50 Why do we have to choose?

  • monk - ive changed my opinion of you. I'm thinking you're just a jerk.

  • Monkberry50, your arrogance is showing.

  • Wow. Do a little music appreciation course. Nobody ever compared her to Christina Aguilera (thank god).

  • Dingleberry....er...uh...Monkberry...go away and stay there.

  • @Monkberry50 She's not a singer. She's a songwriter who sings - like Bob Dylan, Jerry Garcia, Tom Waits, Todd Scheaffer, and Trey Anastasio. You will find legions of fans who love the sound of these artists' unpolished voices. None of them would make a list of great vocalists. "Back alley bar bands" cover Lucinda's songs. So do famous performers like Tom Petty, Willie Nelson, Roseanne Cash, Emmylou Harris, John Mellencamp, and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

  • I have seen her in concert 3 times, including her infamous Las Vegas debacle at the Joint in the Hard Rock. She is always uncomfortable on stage, but that's where her stage energy comes from.

  • THAT guy is Butch! yeah!

  • My dad isn't a mexican

  • Lucinda is amazingly talented and one of my favorites, and she continues to rock-out and be a real outlaw-country Diva- if there is such a thing, but with this new-found monogamy, musically er, personally.. I long for the last album where she was begging to be fucked. And deservedly so. Anyway, all those dudes who have messed her mind up over the years and those who fucked her and fucked her mind up in the interim, ah, well you got yours, and it produced some great songwriting,

  • an LP? do they sell this here in oz on LP? in a dress / skirt is unusual but who cares - it's all about the voice - loud or soft she gets my vote.

  • She's starting to look like Chrissie Hynde, who's also a great rock chick. Lucinda played Wellington New Zealand and it was a blinding show, absolutely positively fanflippin'tastic.

Her band were wondrous as well. Thanks guys

  • is it just me or does she look really uncomfortable?

  • Well, she isn't standing behind an electric guitar!

  • Yee - Hah ! some good Cowboy " ACID ROCK ! " . lets all go down to the Ponderosa and " roll one - burn one " , saddle up !

  • dear lucinda... i love you will you marry me

    circle one:

    yes

    no

  • Kind of different seeing her without guitar in hand. Great song.

  • Kind of different to see her in a skirt...

  • Rockin!!!

  • the dude on the left is totally playing a signature nick valensi (from the strokes) epiphone guitar. I find it interesting when professionals use other people's signature instruments. I guess if someone finds a good sound others can use it.

  • And please tune the guitars.

  • @cobaltjones To?

  • Love this song. Actually, I think this is her best CD since Car Wheels. Maybe better. I was a little dissapointed with West, but Little Honey?... WOW. There is not a throw away song in the joint.

  • Yea, West was pretty dull. I am starting to like this one better then World Without Tears.

  • West may seem dull because the subject matter was not the most cheery. Still a kickass album.

  • Best female artist ever.

  • i agree with smudgefizz, specially about the jackson browne part. but this song rocks. good either way, best thing since "joy" as far as simple yet cool rock. great job thanks

  • The guitar riff from 0:43 to 0:46 (& repeated later) is lifted (unintentionally I'm sure) directly from the main guitar riff to Jackson Browne's song On The Boulevard! But Doug Pettibone is a fabulous guitarist - I was absolutely blown away by his solo on Lucinda Williams song Righteously from her 2003 CD World Without Tears. I would rank that solo as one of the top 25 guitar solos of all time. World Without Tears is still my favourite Lucinda Williams CD.

  • Could be true, but to imagine that Jackson Browne invented ANYTHING musical is a very long stretch indeed.

  • @cobaltjones So he sucks?

  • Ok,

Admittedly Lucinda still has an amazing voice, no questions asked. But her songwriting is deteriorating.

I remember her singing "I think i've lost it" about 10 years ago, and how true was that. Car wheels.. was really good, Essence was OK, the three last (and the last two in particular) is close to bad. Boring, self-pitying to the extreme, and almost no good songs... To quote Metallica: "Sad but true".

She did her best work 15-20 years ago. Come on guys, you know it!

  • this new record and world without tears are nowhere close to bad, come on.

  • Astute observation. Songwriting is a mystery, where it comes from and why it suddenly goes. Just listen to McCartney's latest stuff, how far he fell--that distance should be in the Guiness book of World Records.

  • helvetehellerdaa ,

lucinda is amazing , no questions asked ... but your brain is deteriorating

  • U r stupid!

If you cannot admit that her best work is in the past, you are living in denial.

She still is an amazing artist, but her latest records aren't that good. Period.

  • I prefer West, Little Honey and Car Wheels..., and Essence over Sweet Old World. I don't have any of the other older ones, but I've heard clips and I wasn't all that impressed.

  • @Helvetehellerdaa Denial Rocks

  • I cannot believe I missed this Letterman. I knew she'd be making the rounds soon. DAMN.

  • Never too old to RAWK!

    Just great.

  • Superb. Doug Pettibone sounds great as usual on the new album.

  • Back to business! Tom Overby has made a big difference in her private life. Doug P. a perfect foil for her brand of Twisted Alt Country (or whatever the tag is?!). Honey Bee from Little Honey is back to her sexyest too. One of this years great albums.

  • where is her cowboy hat and guitar? sorry i missed this. she is awesome. thanks for posting this

  • Bellissimo! "Little Honey" is a real treat!

  • She is just the BEST! Been a fan since 1990 and she just gets better. Can't wait to hear the new album

  • Lucinda never disappoints and Doug Pettibone rocks it. She's got herself a BAND in Buiok 6. Can't wait to here Little Honey in its entirety. Peace Love and Revolution.

  • Really nice song.

The Chet and Butch, you guys rock! :)

  • Agreed. The pinnacle of awesome.

  • It's a real love. It's surreal love!!!

  • That's was fucking awesome, A+

  • God! She just gets better and better. Could be the catchiest song she's ever written. Love it!
