  • What a beautiful bell!

  • BEAUTIFUL , HAUNTING , LOVELY , Thank You For Sharing

  • Are the other eleven bells (in the south tower) always pealed before Pummerin?

  • Difficult to say. This was a test of almost all Bells in Vienna, so the other bells you hear are actually from other Viennese churches in proximity too.

Before that I witnessed the Pummerin twice upclose, during the funerals of Cardinal Koenig and Austrian President Klestil (I was guard of honor during my military service) and if I remember correctly it was not preceded by the smaller bells then. Funerals may be an exception though.

  • The bells you hear at the beginning are the south tower's, not other bells of vienna.

  • On that particular day almost all bells of Vienna were pealed minutes before the Pummerin.

How can you know if the bells I filmed that moment are not from one of the dozens of churches near the Stephansdom?

  • Listen to bellschurchst video "The Bells at St. Stephen's Cathedral at Vienna in Austria", or RichardAtwoodRichard "St. Stephan's Bells". You can here the C minor chord like at the beginning of this video.

  • @Wskrzeszacz The ones at the beginning are fom the south tower. I know their tones. and compared with that, what I hear, I can say, that theese bells are from the south tower. In german, the tones are G° c' es' f' g' b' c'' d'' f'' a'' c'''.
