  • A very beautiful and serene 'peace' indeed. Godspeed.

  • Were you at this recital? it looked like a very intimate setting. I wished I was there. I've only seen him perform with he Baltimore Consort.

  • Yes, it was in my living room!

  • Next time you have him over, invite me.

  • lol.....you know, dan, those were my exact thoughts when I saw this video and saw your tag. Damn, you have some cool friends!....and Ron is such a sweet, wonderful man. You must've had a great day that day.

  • This is magnificent!!!! Bravo!!!!! The voice leading is topnotch.

  • Uno strumneto incantevole ed una musica dolcissima e sublime!

  • I was hoping I would run into him here on youtube. I saw a performance of his, and decided to take up the instrument myself.:)

  • Done some reading on him. He's from WV. Wonder if he's ever played any of the really old Appalachian balads on his lute. Georgie comes to mind. goes back to the 17th century at least and is still sung in the mountains by descendants of English settlers. would be cool to hear it on a renaissance lute:

  • Purchase Custer larue's "Daemon Lover", He does an amazing performance of those ballads that you are talking about

  • On the lute? Does he have someone singing them or is it all instrumental?

  • Custer Larue is the soloist, a very talented soprano from rural Bath county in the Shenadoah valley Virginia. She also was the singer for the Baltimore Consort. She uses the consort as her back-up. Ronn Mc Farlane was also one of the founders of the consort. This CD was what introduced me to those ballads. It is more polished than Jean Ritchie but these

    arrangements are wonderful.

  • First piece reminds me of something Barrios would've written. I'm a guitarist. I mean this as a very high compliment to his music and playing. 2nd piece is thrilling, thoroughly modern and is clearly a fusion of many modern influences. I'm reminded of banjo picking, fiery folk mandolin, and a folksy quality that is so very much alive and of the here and now. All of it comes together in his playing and his wonderful instrument. Love the harmonics too. I'm simply blown away. Wow.

  • nice bluegrass (2nd. piece)

  • Ronn Mcfarlane, didn't he play with Loreena Mckenet? His name is in the credits of some cds I have.

  • The piece gives a glimpse of the composer's heart, very, very beautiful!

  • the 1st piece was moving.Definately plan on owning lute one day.love the Harmonics

  • The album comes out in November! check out his myspace page, too

  • Wonderfull sound, technique and music, congratulations !

  • Can't wait for the album!!!

  • Nice to hear some new music played on the lute, and I didn't know it is possible to play harmonics that loudly on a lute. The first piece had a medieval feel to it, somehow.

  • Fantastic pieces and fantastic playing. His right hand technique is amazing.
