Graeme is a visionary for sure; a hero and a great role model for his native country; i can always remember his competition in a cycling programme of events of which I was a participant in 1992, down in Market Harborough; graeme competed in a Penny Farthing matched pair race over the Market Square; a joy to see the great man!!!!!!
@StringBitch1 Im also dissappointed at the criticism levelled by some contributors towards Chris Boardman!!!!
Chris may display some attitude on some occasions, however he can transform this element of personality through the pedals; a transformation that makes him one of the few great cyclists and personalities of our wonderful sport; his hour and individual time trial achievements rank alongside greats such as Merckx, Fignon, and Hinault.... and his RTTC record is exemplary bar none!!!!!!!
I am just a neutral fan, but I do think somehow Boardman is being villianized here, while Graeme is obviously more likeable in his humble and DIY approach, but I honestly think if we were in Boardman's position we'd all do the same, uses the same technology, ride the same bikes etc.
Couch pundits with as much experience of cycling and 'winning' as a Hollywood film is likely to give them should stop dissing Boardman. Either you are coming with your prejudices, not listening carefully enough, or you don't know the mental attitude required to be at the top of a sport. I don't hear Boardman doing Obree down at any stage, and of course, Obree is a superhero, much like his riding position.
Boardman talks like a jerk to me, big-headed, that's how he comes across on the camera, this is the first time I've seen/heard either of them, just an unbiased opinion.
I have had the good fortune to meet both these men over the years, both are un- assuming and polite, the rude remarks about Boardman says more about the person who wrote it then Boardman

Ohh my!
At 1:22 the interviewer was asking if he found the turning "slippy" not "suprising".

He signed a few for me when I was a kid, including a cycling weekly I have framed on the wall.
