  • It was an alright game, I think the negative part was the hype that was around it before it came out. When it finally came out, it was a bit disappointing to alot of people. All in all, okay but had ALOT of potentional. A lesson to many game developers that just by chucking money and celebrity designers at a project wont always give you gold

  • The old man at the door sounds like lo wang, its probably the same voice actor

  • A video game doesnt have to be perfect, all you need is a lot of enemies levels and fun but a game with a really bad flaw needs rebuilding

  • Without daikatana, Ion Storm would be just a figment of imagination

Just saying without that game selling millions, there would be no deus ex

  • daikatana was not a very bad game, but, in the time it came out there was also quake 3 and unreal tournament

it still has a lot of flaws, I say its mediocre

  • Those are the best samurai animated moves i ever saw in a game. This game rocks!!! Daikatana rules fuck yeah!!!! (sarcasm)

  • Those are the best samurai moves i ever saw!!! This game rocks!!! Daikatana fuck yeah!!! (sarcasm)

  • I think you can a bit recognize the feel (and music theme maybe) of Deus Ex (next game they did), also I'd swear it's JC Denton voice actor being used here as well.

  • i like that kind of good textures vs badmodels ala q3.

  • isnt daikatana a pseudo japanese name for the longer nihonto?

  • @malevolenceXXXensues

according to TV Tropes all the names of the characters are this.

  • Daikatana Live, plz!

  • Fuck Yeah!

  • the graphics look like shit.. half life was better.

  • you mean half life was good ... while this isn't even half way decent

  • The AI is piss poor in this game even for the enemies. The first levels have some of the most annoying enemies with small hitboxes and not only one alot of them.

It's extremely easy to damage yourself with practically any gun in the first stages.

Theres even a level where the map change Starts you off with tons of enemies and gives you no time to do anything with sidekicks behind you trying to shoot enemies. You call this a good game? The level design of greece is better but not enough

  • Daikatana is a really bad game Transflash, it's sad you like this game hahaha, it's actually quite a pity the games AI is bad, yeah you can get by Sidekick AI but that itself is frustrating.

the story of Daikatana is also piss poor with a bad narrative and poor dialogue.

The game starts you off at the worst levels of the entire game. Bad start meaning horrible set up to the whole game.

Who the hell doesn't invite a old man into there house but rather walk in the rain talking?

  • Lol, so true. Today we would call it Uwe Boll logic.

  • well, Daikatana sucked pretty much in every possible way... just look at those animations, characters walk like they've shit themselves.

    It was a terrible game...

  • I'm sorry. I can't agree with that. It's a great game, for various reasons.

  • I think the game gets a bad rap. The first level isn't good but I like the rest. I have played it through about 4 times now, and multiplayer is fun (but nobody shows up on the servers anymore).

  • hahah if you want to play multiplayer I'm ready for it. just give a message if you want now after so long time^^

  • yeah, i just love how this game makes half life look like crysis.

  • @Peter5k Yeah? Look at the N64 version if you want 'bad'. They got lazier on the animations in that version. It was so bad, it's painful. XC

...and it doesn't help that it was done on an outdated Quake system. *Double facepalm*

  • lol that guy snuffed hiro right to the face.

  • Halflife = Quake1, with a minor slice from Quake2.

  • huh, i thought it was the Unreal engine

  • No, Transflash is correct. Half life is Quake 1 engine. Read the Quake Engine page on Wikipedia.

  • Is the main guy's name Miyamoto?

  • Yeah, Hiro Miyamoto

  • That dude is such an ass. Doesn't even ask the old man to come inside from the rain, what a dick move.

  • That's exactly what I was thinking.

  • Lol..something funny I noticed was.. the Ninjas seemed to just leave after they shanked an old man and deck the main character in the face, super random event... and main guy takes the punch like a bitch..got knocked out, and he's a sword training master guy? xP.. And that old man got stabbed..flesh wound..and he stays alive on the ground until the main character wakes up. XD..Love the story.

  • this intro was done by a noob ass animator they got at last minute because the core team left including good animators

  • two years earlier and this might still have had glory.

  • tnx for uploading this dude:)

  • That animation is terrible!! The game looks bad even for a 2000 game. I remember some pretty good looking games from that era.

  • Half life 1 is the quake 2 engine and it still amazes me sometimes e.g in Brain Bread or zombie panic, this is crap in comparision.

  • Half Life 1 used the Quake I engine, with additional parts of code from Quake II.

  • The engine used in Half Lide is called GoldSrc and is based on the Quake 1 engine

  • it´s not the same opening as in nintendo64

  • What a fantastic opening: watching an old guy talk about things while the camera pans around Quake-era character models. "Good" times.

  • It would've looked amazing with today's technology. Such a shame he couldn't wait until then.

  • Thanks for uploading this! =) Not bad for Quake II engine.
